I had heard great things about Freebirds. Some have even made the claim that it’s «better than Chipotle,» So, I had high expectations being a Chipotle fanatic. I was impressed by the choices at freebirds. I like that you can get nachos, for example. But the flavors fell short. I got steak and it was unimpressive. Overcooked in my opinion, and lacking any seasoning. It wasn’t terrible, but I feel like I could have made something better at home. The décor was cool and the staff was super friendly. So I’m not opposed to giving it another shot. But flavor-wise, it just needs more.

Overall 3.5 stars. Located on the outskirts of the mall on Winchester Rd. Freebirds is a step up from Chipotle in terms of flavor. While I like the concept of Chipotle’s more natural ingredients… they are way too salty for my consumption. Freebirds is in no way«health food», but at least it’s less salty tasting. I’ve only come here a few times and service has always been friendly. You go up and they assembly line make your burrito. Tastes pretty good. They have some food challenge if you eat a humongoid burrito super fast you get your pic up on their wall lol. It’s pretty much a self serve restaurant, get up for your drinks, napkins etc. Prices are ok. I tried getting their frequent stamp club thingie but each time I tried they were always out of it. Really? Princess Money no likey that. LOL Overall, an A-OK Temurrieta option. Update: Super cool, their customer service just commented same day thanking me for my feedback. Nice touch! Thank you.

My husband and I were both very impressed with how friendly the staff was. As a first timer, walking in and knowing where to start was a little confusing. As a previous reviewer stated, the location of the fountain drinks throw you off a bit. Regardless, the food was delicious and the(I’m assuming) manager was beyond helpful.

Back to this location again two years later and loved it just as much as the first time! They have such a great staff, patient and friendly. The menu has changed a bit, no more super huge burrito, still a monster size which is more than enough. Also not as many tortilla shell options, but more meat. I went with the tofu and veggies as well as the carnitas in a bowl and loved both. So many toppings and sauces, I got them all, it was plenty to take home leftovers for later. Kids meals are a bit small, my son will have to get a regular size burrito next time. My husband had the monster with streak and did not enjoy the meat, but said the rest was great. I tried my sons chicken(both grilled and chili lime available), both are good. It’s never full in here, but Temecula has really expanded and there are so many dining options in the area, I hope they continue to do well, a great stop while passing through!

I’ve loved Freebirds since I had in Texas! Happy they have one in Temecula! They have tons of choices and are always delicious. My fave is the steak!

My son decided yesterday that he wanted to be a nacho, nacho, man. Yes he had to be a nacho man. I didn’t want fast food nachos and I really wasn’t feeling up to hitting up any of the typical Tex-Mex chains so I decided to give it a try. My first impression was that OCC and Chipotle have a bastard child together. The menu is similar as is the way in which your food is constructed but the menu is slightly bigger. My son decided he wanted carnitas nachos and loaded them up with all sorts of ingredients. Rice, carnitas, pico de gallo, queso cheese sauce(across between Velveta and nacho cheese sauce). It’s good but I prefer nachos with actual cheese melted over the chips. I wanted a grilled chicken taco but they didn’t have either chicken or steak so I had to settle for a carnitas taco. Disappointing but not the end of the world. The taco was pretty damn decent and I wasn’t a huge fan of the tortilla chips used in the nachos but they were pretty good. I can be a bit of a tortilla chip snob so don’t let this discourage you from trying them. What really weirded me out was the choice of salsas, one of them was actually a semi sweet barbecue sauce. Definitely something looking to find a home on something, it was tasty. Over all I was pretty satisfied, a bit more expensive than Chipotle. I wouldn’t make it one of my regular places but I want to give it another try for the grilled chicken.

So many choices– from size of burritos to fillings, salads etc. Food is very tasty. Wish this location had ground beef, and it would be nice if they offered coupoms, promotions etc.

Steak nachos! That’s all I’ve ever had here. The nacho sauce is devine. I didn’t think I’d like it because I was hoping for real melted cheese, but it is so GOOD. Love everything about these here nachos. Put on it what you want. I took a friend and we split them and she couldn’t get enough of them either. I am assuming their burritos would be just as good. MUCH better than Chipotle, that’s for sure. Check this place out. I don’t want it to close down, we don’t have a lot of good food in Temecula! Also employees are all really nice.

Our department’s 2-day offsite was headed towards Solano Beach. For our lunch stop, we catered with Freebirds. We had approximately 40 people and Freebirds was supposed to meet us at a park in Temecula. However, our plans changed since we were running behind schedule and we had them meet us «in the middle of no where» while our group discussed our projects. They were very accommodating and showed up at our meeting location with each bag labeled«Steak», «Chicken», «Caritas» and«V» for vegetarian. We also had a few custom orders and they wrote the individuals name on those ones. Each lunch came with tortillas, salsa, and a chocolate chip cookie. I ordered the steak burrito and it was so good. It wasn’t soggy at all and it was still warm. The chips and cookie were also awesome. I’m glad we went with Freebirds this year(way better than boxed sandwich for a change. 146⁄100 Reviews for 2015

I got to say… I’m liking free birds burritos more than chipotle. I’ve been coming here more and more because they have more options like queso and cilantro plus many many more. Like juice, cayenne pepper tortillas. I can keep going. I love it here. You should give it a try.

Finally got a chance to try Freebirds the other night and I loved it! Love all the different selections and let me tell you, they do not skimp on the meat! Unlike their competitor Chipotle who gives a tiny scoop. I love how they have different types of tortillas too. Plenty of seating throughout and 2 separate soda stations, which is nice because you can get your drink while you are waiting in line. Customer service was nice and loved the cookies! Can’t wait to go back!

Love the vibe and the respect they give tortilla to weight ratio. Chile Mango Salsa is good but you need to really lay it on to get full taste exposure.

Love the music and décor, girls are super nice and friendly. Food is OK, burritos and quesadilla were very large. They just tasted roasted though, not a lot of flavor. Chips and salsa were good. Hard to pull into location which is why I hadnt gotten around to bother trying them for maybe 10 years or so?

the food is a 10+ normally. The last few trips have been a complete nightmare. 3 times now I have walked into a ghost town. Then when the staff finally came around they treated me like I was interrupting something. Something has changed and regardless of the good food it’s not worth being treated like shit, and no I didn’t go in a closing time.

My wife and I stopped in here the first time simply because it was closer than Chipotle, and boy are we glad we did. Once we walked in, we quickly realized just how different, and BETTER this place is. The GM greeted us upon arrival, walked us through the process of creating our burritos/tacos/bowls, and just seemed to be an all around nice guy. They have more options than the other guys, better tasting ingredients, and a friendlier staff – all of this is subjective I’m sure, but we’ve been here half a dozen times and have yet to be let down. My wife and I work from home on Fridays, and Freebirds has become our routine«after work» stop. If the staff is reading this, please keep up the good work.

Most people will compare this place to the competing burrito-building franchise a few hundred feet down the street. I’ve never really been a fan of the system these two chains use, so I won’t pick sides. Ordering was a little confusing to me – the two fountain stations on opposite ends of the counter may throw you off. The staff was really helpful when taking notice and offered a few notes about the company itself during the order. They have tortilla options. I do appreciate a Cayenne kick, so got that to start. The Hybird is their smallest size, but still packed and filling. What’s nice is how the burrito is wrapped and rolled: flattened on the ends to aid a more seamless burrito-eating experience. The food was all right, not my cup of tea, but the customization process and variety of ingredients works for a lot of people. I added their famous dessert previously known as the [pot] brownie, but didn’t taste the amazement that others have expressed. It was interesting, though, to read about Libby(the statue on the motorcycle mural) and the artist’s inspiration from the fall of the Berlin Wall. 3.5 for the food, service, and space.

First I want to say that the employees here are amazing! Very nice, helpful and funny. I can easily tell the difference in a forced niceness and a real one and you can tell these employees are genuine and are just all around nice people. As everyone else has said, this is pretty much just a fresher, more«hippy» version of Chipotle. They have some cool, unique choices, like cayenne tortillas and cilantro lime rice. I really wanted to love my burrito but found it to be pretty average. The ingredients were good just too bland for my taste. Maybe if they had a super spicy salsa or something it could be better but overall I found the food not that great.

Alright, alright… if you read my first review you will see I am not alone on my point of feeling confused and rushed by the menu and food… however, I came back(out of absolutely no reason why I could tell you or myself) but my experience this time was great followed by good food :) The girl that helped me was super sweet, she was very friendly and helpful. She gave large portions and I really liked that she asked me if I wanted light or dark chicken meat. I got a bowl and this time was able add some sauces and toppings that I had no clue about before. I also brought home a pot brownie… holy S**T this thing was not only awesome but also cheap. I’m sure I grew a third ass when I ate it at like two in the morning but I don’t care, that thing was good. They have a cool little sauce bar(that I did not know about nor was told about last time) and I enjoyed the sauces, its like a handlebar sauce bar looking contraption to play along with the whole«badass» theme. Thank you, place is pretty legit in my book now :)
