I happened upon this place recently and was pleasantly surprised. Apparently this place has been around for over 15 years or so. Could have fooled me(never noticed it in the 5 years we’ve been here). It is tucked away in a shopping center right behind the now closed Tony Roma’s on the industrial side of Temecula. I never gave it much thought, but it must be hard for small business owners to compete with the likes of Subway or McDonalds. Who can beat $ 5 footlong? Well, apparently Ernie B’s is trying. I’m not sure if they changed the price to match subway or what, but its $ 5 for a footlong hoagie! Whoa! And get this, it’s $ 2.50 for a six inch. Where can you get a $ 2.50 sandwhich these days? Even the Brown Bag sandwiches at 7 – 11 are like $ 3. And these subs are way decent! Okay so you don’t have all the choices of sauce and veggies like subway, but they have their own special Ernie B’s sauce that’s pretty tasty too. I thought their food was good, nothing mind-blowing, but really good and at a stupendous price! Their hot sandwiches and specialty sandwiches sound so good. I wish I could try them all. I had the bleu burger, which is a burger with bleu cheese(obvi), it was so full of flavor! This was way more pricey than the hoagies, but it was definitely a restaurant quality meal! The next one I want to try is their tri tip sandwich… doesn’t that sound good? And I could smell someone’s pastrami sandwich being prepared it smelled real good. I also had their cinnamon rolls, which is apparently what makes them famous. That is only $ 2.50. They are good cinnamon rolls, although me personally I love cream cheese frosting, and they only have the icing. But for $ 2.50 its a definite tasty deal. It kept me full from breakfast through lunch. But they also have cookies, muffins, croissants, and other baked goods. The owner, John, seems real personable and most of his customers seem to be repeat customers. I definitely say support our small businesses! Especially when it is just as cheap as the big guys! I would come here instead of subway for dinner, but unfortunately they close at 2. But it makes for a cheap lunch, if I’m ever around! Oh and they have a coupon for a free cookie with a $ 5 purchase. Serious, now the deal is better than subway.
