I’m surprised I’ve never reviewed this place cause this is one of the few Temecula spots that is reliable for great beer and really decent bar food. Its not cheap but the service is usually great. Tried the Shepherds pie and it was great.

Sadly, the place has closed. Temecula has lost a fantastic bar. :(

I’m so sad to learn that Barley & Hops is closing
It’s such a shame, I really enjoyed Barley & Hops and have been here quite a few times since my last review. I don’t enjoy its competitors(Killarney’s, Tilted Kilt, Yard House) in the area so I’m not sure where I’ll go now. I will definitely try to come by this week to thank them for the years of great food and beer!

I have not really developed my personal taste for wine or beer as of yet but they do offer a delicious Fox Pear Cider that I always get when I visit! My boyfriend likes to try their unusual and hard to find beers from their wide variety; he is very rarely disappointed. The staff doesn’t rush you out the door if you only order one or two drinks. They are also helpful with drink selection if you are a little unsure and are helpful in similar drinks if they happened to run out of your favorite that night. This is a great place to kick back and socialize with friends! And I can’t complain about the prices either! I would say that for my boyfriend and I to get two drinks each plus the tip for the server would cost us about $ 20 all together.

Their pretzels are amazing and their beer selection is inspiring. The bartender made excellent recommendations for our group and we were all very happy. $ 4 beers during happy hour.

Their service has always been hit or miss, as other reviewers have said. But what has always been good has been their beer selection and their food. The pizza even took a dive. Beer selection is still great & hopefully they stay open as rumors keep circulating about them moving or closing. Save the Hops!

HORRIBLEHORRIBLEHORRIBLESERVICE!!! THEWORSTSEVER I HAVEEVEREXPERIENCED!!! DONOTGOHERE… I REPEATDONOTGOHERE!!! I came here one Thursday night with a few friends for a drink. This is the first time I’ve ever been here and was excited about the huge beer selection. The waitress we had, tall skinny girl w/glasses totally ignored us the entire night basically. It took her forever to get our orders, bring us napkins, bring us water… etc. I swear it took her like 20 – 30 minutes to bring anything we asked for. The water & napkins really??? COMMON! She hardly ever checked on us and didn’t even seem that friendly. It wasn’t just me who noticed, my entire group noticed and we were all pretty ticked off. We couldn’t wait to get out of that place… again waited 30+ minutes for our bill. We got so tired of waiting that we left cash and bounced. She actually stopped one of our friends when she saw us leaving. Oh, so NOW you want to talk to us? F* that! She brought my friend over to make sure we left the cash. You are so lucky we didn’t have $ 1s that night, otherwise you wouldn’t have gotten any tip at all. NEVERCOMINGBACK!!!

Food is typical greasy bar food but the corn nuggets are awesome! AWESOME selection of beers at an OK price. The staff seems to be really passionate about beer, so feel free to ask them questions. The ambiance is awesome. It’s like an old tavern. Unfortunately, SOOO many Inland Empire«bros».

The bad reviews confuse me. This is a bar, a pub, a tavern– this is not your elegant gourmet restaurant where you can expect the doors opened for you and to fawned upon. This is old world style pub brought up a few notches. They have an AMAZING amount of beers they serve– over 200 and over 40 on tap! The bartenders and waitresses always seem to be very knowledgeable about these beers, which is amazing. I have probably drank most of them but I could never remember. The atmosphere is great– comfortable booths or strong wooden tables. Sit at the bar! It’s good. It’s all good. I was trying to figure out how many stars to give them. Here in Temecula, definitely 5 stars. There is no place this good when seeking out a pub with an awesome beer selection AND good food. And then I thought to compare it to other pubs I’d been to all over the place, and still… this is 5 stars. This is GOOD. Today I came in with the man and I was trying not to load up on beer AND greasy, calorie/carb rich pub food. So I ordered the Waldorf chicken salad and a cup of French onion soup. Have you ever ordered a salad from a place that specializes in beer? Not smart. But I decided to, anyway. Oh… my… gosh. This is delicious! The onion soup is not *the best* I’ve ever had but it’s in the top 3, and that’s to say a lot. Because I LOVE onion soup. This salad was slightly overly dressed(next time I’ll ask for lighter dressing!) but it was good. Very, very good. Full of chicken, greens(and purples, whatever those are called), with some grapes, celery and walnuts. The textures matched, it was a harmony in my mouth. YUM! This is not the first time I’ve been here. Their Big Brat sammich is the bomb. So sooooo good, as is their Shepherd’s pie and pot pies. During lunch, you can enjoy a not too quiet atmosphere with their funky walls covered with randomness from all over the beer world, and in the evenings enjoy the Temecula crowd– pool, foosball, conversation. This is the place to be. I always forget how much I love it. It’s an amazing pub. It gets 5 stars because I would take people here, at any time of day, for any reason. Because I would return here as much as possible if I could. It’s that good.

Despite all the negative reviews I gave this Place a try. Don’t worry it won’t happen again! Horrible service! That’s probably the biggest reason I won’t be back. Good selection of beer but guess what so Does bevmo and for a better price! Food was ok, crrtainly nothing special. Plenty of other great options in Temecula!

NEVERAGAIN… Everyone was so friendly and hospitable in Temecula up until getting here!!! Went in late with a large party over the weekend. they did not greeted us to start. we asked for menus and did not get any. we ended up getting them ourselves. waited almost 30min and still were not acknowleged. we got up to leave and even then did not get any respond. they were not super busy but even if they were, no excuse. apparently they were not interested in our money because we were ready to drink and eat yet got the worse customer service ever… I WILLMAKESURETOLETEVERYONE I KNOWNOTTOWASTETHEIRTIMEWHENINTEMECULAIN A PLACELIKETHIS!!!

Excellent craft beers on tap and in bottles. Like them on Facebook and you can get up to date information on special taps or beers that will be tapping or pouring. Every year around February, they be tapping Pliny the Younger which is a must try beer. You can find different beers from Russian River like Pliny the Elder, Ballast Point like Sculpin, Ale Smith beers, Stone beers, Lost Abbey/Pizza Port and so on to name a few… The staff are friendly and the environment is cool. Wish they had more tv screens around the pub and bigger ones too. I gave them 3 starrr because the food is okay and basic. Expected better choices to pair with the special beers.

First try: ordered spicy pulled chicken sandwich with fries. The chicken was super flavorful and great heat on it. Fries were tasty but small side order. My gf ordered: Coronado Idiot IPA& chicken pot pie. Beer was just okay. And the chicken pot pie needed more spices(basic pub food where they lack in spices). Overall, we still like the place and their patio is dog-friendly. Good to go to try different beers and some pub fare. But don’t expect gourmet food.

This is the first place that I ate upon getting into California. My wife’s friend is the executive chef here, so I was expecting great things. I was not disappointed. Tried a raspberry ale as well as a green apple beer(or was that an ale as well?). Both were superb, and quite cool, I assure you. Though I can’t speak for actual beer beers, but the drinks I did have were anything but warm. Ordered the brie bowls, mini bangers, and steak and cheese. The first two were appetizers, and they’re more than enough to stand in as the main course for one or two people. What’s more, their garnish is actually a delicious baby greens salad, and I’d be more than happy to just get those items! But the steak and cheese was surprising: Actual STEAK on the sandwich! That being said, I can’t recommend this place enough. Very cozy atmosphere, affordable food in respectable portions. Love it!

I was in Temecula early this month. I saw the beer list and I decide to go. Everybody talks about food — I was there for the beer… we met the owner and he was so kind — the explanation about all we decided to have, and then… magic… he introduced me to Russian River Blind Pig and I was about to have a heart attack… later on I found out that this beer is considered the best IPA in the world for many critics… I tasted it… and after that he introduced me to several other amazing different ones. I’ll be back… FORSURE!!! P. S.: Don’t worry… I wasn’t driving… ;-)

During my recent trip to Temecula, I met fellow Unilocalers Kim D & Brian A here. Since I haven’t spent much time in Temecula, I relied on their recommendation to come here for some grub & Brewskies… I’m glad I did. Here’s why: — The joint has a great selection of Craft Beer… Stone IPA, Sculpin IPA, Blind Pig IPA… plus a ton of other Beer, I was in heaven! — Pints of these Craft Beers were only $ 4 each on a Sun night! — Food. The food was excellent. We shared a BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza & an Appetizer Platter($ 11.99) of Mozzarella Cheese Sticks, Cheddar Cheese Bites, and Fried Pickles. The Pulled Pork Pizza was very good… it’s served in a rectangle pan and cut in squares… like the Detroit Style Pizza at Northside Nathan’s in Vegas. The BBQ Sauce was tangy and not too sweet and complimented the Pork well… perfect! The Crust is thick and can fill you up… we ordered a Large, which filled up 3 of us easily… and there was some leftover at the end of the night. The Appetizer Platter was a plate full of fried Awesome! The Cheddar Bites were my favorite… the Fried Pickles were cooked at the right temperature and not soggy. — Atmosphere. The place is an Irish Pub and has dark wood in the interior… looks nothing like the modern strip mall it’s in. The bartenders wear kilts and it makes for a very laid back and fun atmosphere. Overall, it was great food, great Beer, with good friends… Good Times! Return Factor — 100%

Met up with some Riverside Unilocalers for a get together here. Though the place is billed as a «family» tavern, I wouldn’t recommend bringing them. Robust selection of bottled beer. Maybe too many choices to pick from. Had to ask for suggestions from the server. Because it was a special evening I sprung for Piraat on tap(6.99 ouch!). I then went for the cheaper bottles. Talent — Mix of guys and girls in kilts. Works well on the ladies, not so much the guys. Our guy was wearing seedless brand deodorant, and the service reflected that(slow), however that just added to the charm of this place. There is a side room with games and a place for a band(which did start playing when we were there). Did I mention that I hate trying to have a conversation with a loud band playing in the background? I drove up from San Diego for this event and enjoyed the place. I’ll come back again, that’s for sure.
