Great! experience! The staff here is friendly and very welcoming. The woman who greeted us, gave my 3 year old a little glider plane and even let him sit in the cockpit before takeoff. Exceptional service and welcoming family atmosphere. My pilot Paul, was very informative during the flight, answering my questions about the local area. I took the 30 minute flight at 4,000 feet and it was awesome! Incredible views! The pilot even let me fly the plane for a few minutes after some instruction. Great experience and definitely something out of the ordinary. Highly recommend if you are in the area!

I got a gift certificate for a «best ride in a high performance sailplane» for my birthday and it sure was an awesome gift! When I called to schedule my ride, I let them know I was a pilot and had hoped to actually get some«stick time» rather than just taking a ride. When I arrived, they introduced me to Paul, my glider instructor, who took me back to the briefing room where we had a nice chat about flight experience and differences between flying powered aircraft and gliders. He was very thorough and treated it more like a fun introductory lesson than just a glider ride. We took out a Grob 103, which was a well maintained and nicely equipped 2-seat high-performance glider, and chatted with Ken, our tow pilot. Ten minutes later we were on our way up to 8200 feet where the ride really began. Fast flight, slow flight, steep turns and general sightseeing — it was awesome. We were up for a little over half an hour, and Paul had me do most of the flying! Whether you’re looking for an awesome sightseeing ride around the Tehachapi mountains, or want to get your sailplane rating, Skylark North is the place! Pro Tip: April thru October are the best months for taking a ride.

A truly unique place where you can just stop by and have lunch at the little café, or learn to soar!
