One of the best sushi restaurants I’ve been to. From the service to quality of the food, everything was perfect. I would recommend this restaurant any day . Keep it up the deliciousness.

When I lived in Tehachapi, this was one of my favorite spots in town. By far the best sushi around with a large menu, friendly staff and fast service. Nice place to dine in for lunch or dinner, but I generally got my order«to go». I’m a vegetarian and everything I’ve ordered has been spot on, but my seafood loving SO enjoyed their shrimp sushi and shrimp tempura roll. A must if you find yourself in Tehachapi.

We’re from the Seattle area, and frequently enjoy good sushi, so we were really pleased to find really good sushi in the hills outside of Barstow. Now that we have found Tehachapi and this Sushi Grill we will never stay in Barstow again! The sashimi sampler was beautiful, fresh, generous sized pieces and the godzilla was not only delicious but also loaded with tasty, freshly made french fried onions and lots of roe. Yum!

Extremely overpriced, very small portions of teriyaki chicken. Not worth $ 18 for god sakes! Other than that, the only pros were that it’s a very nice place and the people that work here are very very nice

We love coming here for lunch or dinner whenever we’re in Tehachapi. Food is always excellent. The Tehachapi roll is a fave of mine. Soooo good!!! We’ve had to wait on occasion, but it’s worth it. Definitely a must if you love sushi! You won’t leave hungry!!!

I was in Tehachapi last week visiting family and we ate here. the food was delicious!!! Not only was the place clean and inviting, it was also relaxing and welcoming. We all had a variety of different meals so that we could all do the«taste test». Everything from the the salads, noodles, and sushi were on point. The staff was friendly and the waitress was also informative by letting me know about each dish as I had never had the majority of anything on the menu. Next I go visit, I’m definitely going back.

This place was pretty good. Our service was pretty quick. We ordered Calamari and a couple really nice tasting rolls. We also got some strawberry mochi that I really liked. The set up of the food was pretty. In my opinion I found it to be kind of bland compared to ichiban but that’s me.

Have been here a few times, & since the first few weeks it was opened, the service has improved. I have never had bad food here and some of their rolls are very different and quite good. Quality is always good! As for refills or sides, just flag your waitress — it is customary not to intrude on diners, so they take orders, bring food and clear dishes. Some of the highlights are the monkey balls, the sensual pleasure and country girl roll and the California beach roll is a MUST if you love scallops… yummy!

Sushi in Tehachapi… well even in the dessert you need sushi, right? And this actually isn’t bad. They don’t have a website(that’s like an epidemic in Tehachapi… it must be like the least plugged place in all of California), so I can’t look up the menu to tell you what we ordered. But we liked our selection of veggie sushi and California and shrimp rolls. They were not the best I’ve had by far but honestly, it was probably the best meal I had in this little town. One odd thing… one of my shrimp rolls(a shrimp tempura roll possibly?) had a layer of lettuce leaves. That is a sushi first for me. A special local touch perhaps? Regardless, if you find yourself in Tehachapi and are craving sushi or just pretty good food, this is a solid choice. We didn’t dine in — got our order to go… but I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Parking lot — natch.

I’d say that right now this is the best Sushi place in Tehachapi out of the three. I’ve not had the extreme service problems that some of the other reviewers claim to have had, though I know it was a bit rough when they first opened. I come in frequently now and have not had any issues in the last 6 months other than one time one piece of our order went missing and as promptly rectified when I brought it to her attention. The sushi is good, salmon tastes fresh and the ramen offerings are decent. Like all rural Sushi restaurants it is expensive, but you really have no choice. They don’t have the foot traffic or competition to lower the prices. Some menu items are very overpriced(bulgogi and other red meat items) so look carefully at the prices when ordering. They do have a LOT of stuff so if you’re not feeling like sushi that night but your friends are, you can always pick something else. The décor is tasteful and the restaurant is always very clean. The one big downside is that there is nearly nowhere you can sit where the large TVs above the bar are out of your view. I don’t come to restaurants to watch TV. The young lady servers are very nice although not too helpful with specific information about items on the menu. They always have to go ask. I grew up in Silicon Valley so I am pretty spoiled when it comes to asian food. Living out here now this place satisfies my Japanese food cravings nicely.

I went twice and both times I ended up walking out because we waited for over 20minutes and still had no server ask for our orders. One time it took too long to be seated and the second time when we were seated waved the waitress down multiple times saying can we get our order in. Water please and we still haven’t gotten our order in. Finally we walked out and I’m almost positive they didn’t notice.

Haven’t had really bad or slow service since they first opened. Most of the time the waitresses are very good(however has been the same two ladies most of the time). Unfortunately — it’s a roll of the dice with the food. There is never the same sushi chef twice EVER. Sometimes the food is outstanding and sometimes it’s only edible. Would love to love it all the time — they are just way too inconsistent.

My experience was lovely. Staying at the Best Western across the parking lot — at 9:15 pm on a Friday night. Serving Staff gave me a booth as requested(even though I was by myself). Food came in proper order — starting just a few minutes after ordering Bowl of Miso soup was flavorful, steaming hot and delicious. Salad with ginger dressing was very fresh, NO little wilty bits of kale or silly veggies that do not belong. Had mixed veggie and shrimp tempura. Enjoyed all of it I could eat… had some left over… Like my shrimp a bit more cooked… HOWEVER I did not tell the server this when ordering — so that is on me. Staff made a polite«last call» at the sushi bar as I was paying at 9:45 pm. Left a $ 10 tip for the young lady who served me respectfully even though I am heavily tattooed and look like a demon… When visiting my amigo who is incarcerated at C.C.I. Tehachapi I will visit Midori again.

For a place thats practically in the middle of the nowhere, the food they prepared is decent. Especially since they’re kinda of in a desert… and they’re supposed to serve fish. I’ve only stopped here once or twice on the way to Vegas. I’ve gotten their Una-don and their New York roll. The Una-don bowl was a relatively good size for the price and the eel was flavorful and tasty. I ordered the New York roll because it had apples in it and i’ve never had apples in sushi. It was interesting… but it wasnt good. i only ate 2 – 3 pieces. My friend got their bento box and our chef was able to substitute sashimi instead of cali rolls for $ 1 extra. The service wasnt too bad. Waitress was accomodating and nice. Chef was patient with our orders and questions. Everything was quiet and clean. I would probably come here again if i wasnt on a busy time-schedule and if i decide to drive to Vegas again.

We waited to try them After they first opened. Heard horrible things but thought, why not try them? Got Togo food, tempura and a bento box. Took almost an hour! Then the food was very bland and boring. I’ll stick with kasagiri a and ichiban, midori should stick with LA folks and take care of their restaurants there.

Went here for lunch. Immediately was seated. I like to visit places that have long, exaggerated bad reviews. Any review that says they’ll never go again, usually is bogus. My experience was great! I have pretty simple expectations. 1) Is the staff friendly and do they try to offer good service. 2) Is the food edible. I don’t expect it to be the best of my life unless that’s what they advertise. Here, the food was good. 3) Are the prices fair? Here they were. I find that most bad reviews are the cause of unreasonably high expectations. I never go in with high expectations. I usually like to just experience what the establishment offers. Here… I Highly recommend!!! Good bang for the buck and great food! In and out in 38 minutes. Perfect for lunch

DONOTGOHERE! I read the reviews and thought«I’ll be smart — I’ll just order it to go». Yeah… Well, fellow Unilocalers, my sincerest apologies for doubting you and thinking I was smarter because I got burned. Yup, Midori’s service really sucks. You were right; I was definitely wrong. I ordered two rolls to go, was told by the server it would be 15 minutes. I run back to the hotel to unload my stuff and came back expecting it to be ready or a few minutes late(they were a bit busy…). Now it’s a bit shy of 30 minutes later and I was told they were out of sushi rice and of course, no one told me until I asked about the progress of my food. Argh!!! Burned! At this point I don’t care about the taste. This could be the best freakin sushi in the planet and the chef could have just returned from catching it in the ocean himself and I would still never visit this place again. Take my advice and also the guidance from the other Unilocalers, do not eat here. It’s a waste of your time. So sad… :(
