Wonderful products(artistic housewares, unique toys, beautiful jewelry…), wonderful community events, and wonderful owner. This is such an important place to have in Teaneck.

I was looking for a place to meet a friend, on a Sunday, half way between our locations. I happened upon this place via Unilocal and it was just perfect. The owner is so nice and friendly. There are so many items, and there were lots of open games to play. There are tables and chairs and some menu items with sweets and coffee. Definitely way better than the original Starbucks default plan! Plus, with a little kid, adults can have a conversation while the kid is entertained. What a great find!!!

After 5 years, TGS continues to offer products that are unique, valuable, and fun. It’s hands-down the go-to place for modestly priced gifts that are artsy and interesting. The expanded game and activities section make you want to sit down right there and play. Every item shouts out«entertaining and engaging»(if not educational, too!). The light fare and comfortable seating also make TGS a great place to take a break, meet up with friends, or even have a casual meeting with a work colleague or two. A small gem you shouldn’t miss.

This store is literally a gem! My friend and I were trying to find Zoe’s Cupcake Café actually, but after a few blocks to no avail, we burrowed into this little store. When you walk in, you see a variety of items that constitute the merchandise part of the store, but after walking a bit further in(past the small tables, etc) there’s a small café in the back. The coffee was very good, we both had the Mind Body Soul Coffee as it was a bit late in the afternoon. It had sprinkles of different spices like cocoa, which made it a pretty good cup of coffee. It also came in a very homey mug. The smaller size was $ 1.85; and the larger $ 2.20 ish. The best part was that there were open board games to grab and play! Although my friend and I were just catching up, this is something I’m definitely going to go for next time I stop by! Over all, it’s a very homey atmosphere – my friend and I talked for over 2 hours over a cup of coffee – that encourages catching up with an old lost friend.

For those concerned about the complications of fair trade items, this store sells coffee from Equal Exchange, which supports cooperatives, as distinct from commercial farms getting into fair trade. If you care about cooperatives, this is a good buy.

Great selection of really attractive, interesting, and modestly priced gifts. We’ve always enjoyed our shopping experience there. Bruce and staff are super nice and helpful! Definitely worth a shopping visit and to grab a light bite.

There are a million storefronts on Cedar Lane, and this little store is a diamond in the rough, without a doubt. The husband and I trekked here after Shabbat on a Saturday night for a poetry event, and we were blown away at the store — it’s full of interesting and local baubles and goodies like housewares and clothing and kitchen goodies. It’s the kind of store I could probably do a lot of(personal, wallet-style) damage in! My favorite part? They serve coffee and pastries and soups and other goodies, making it truly a store of many wares and services. The great thing about it being the«general» store is they can do pretty much anything with it and they won’t be going against their store’s image! They host events, music, and poetry, too, making it a true one-stop shop. If you’re looking for nosh or some cool salad scoopers or maybe even T-shirts, be sure to give The Teaneck General Store a look! Note: They are RCBC Kosher!

The first review is spot on. This place is a great addition to Cedar Lane and I hope they get plenty of business so they thrive and prosper. Another reason to patronize this store, if you need one, is that they have been active supporters of Teaneck High School’s Project Graduation, a drug and alcohol-free evening designed to keep our students safe and off the roads on graduation night.

The Teaneck General Store opened up on Cedar Lane in Teaneck just across from the movie theater within the last year. The store has a little bit of everything but what makes this place special is their commitment to supporting fair-trade products and local artist who sell their goods in the store. Everything in the store is remarkably affordable and the owners are always helpful to answer any questions you may have. The store recently added a far-trade café where a barista can prepare a fresh brewed cappuccino, latte, espresso, coffee, etc in addition to fresh fruit smoothies or a variety of herbal organic teas. Where mega-marts, shopping malls and online stores reign supreme, its nice to see that the local general store concept is still alive and well.
