I’ve realized its best to rate buffets on each item and time of arrival. This was a lunch between 12 – 12:30pm. I was rung up before being seated(a bit rude and odd). Nevertheless. So let’s get started! Lunch/Dinner Bar: Mashed Potatoes 3⁄5 Just mashed potatoes. Sweet Tea 5⁄5 Couldn’t be more southern! Diabetics beware! Sausage & Kraut 5⁄5 Can’t go wrong here! Gravy 1⁄5 (Extremely thin, bad taste) Mac & Cheese 2⁄5 (a bit bland, needs pepper and sharper cheese, more of a Mac and cheese soup) Macaroni Salad 4⁄5 Good flavor, the addition of shredded cheese or tomatoes would greatly add some better contrast and flavor. Pot Roast 3⁄5 Very moist meat but under seasoned and the vegetables are cut way too large. Baked Chicken (Dry, under seasoned) Fried Chicken (See baked chicken) Southern Fries 5⁄5 Season and baked great, well done! Corn Bread 3⁄5 Good consistency, moist. Hush Puppies 2⁄5 (Too dry, even for a hush puppie) Dessert Bar: Butterscotch Pudding 3⁄5 It’s like cheesecake. Hard to go wrong. Though if you’ve ever had cheesecake from a package, you’ll realize how it goes wrong. Chocolate Cake 2⁄5 (There’s only one note here: Cocoa) Raspberry Angel Cake 4⁄5 Very moist, the topping sets it off! Over all I think changing their breading they use will help with the hush puppies and corn bread. It was okay. The pot roast was okay. The mashed potatoes were okay. Are you getting the theme here? It’s like a brand new Toyota. At best it’s OKAY. There just isn’t anything special that makes you want to come back for more or make it stand out. Except the service which was exceptional. He never told me his name(big no no if you are a server) but provided excellent service, even though it’s a buffet. I was even asked if I was done with a plate before he removed it from my table(yes, it was the one with the baked chicken) as well as if I would like coffee for my dessert/after my dessert. Checked in with my enough but not too much. Exceptional. Coming with tea or coffee included in price, I have to say their pricing is spot on. I believe with a few tweaks they could easily charge $ 9.99/person with drink. If I could think of any reason to come it’s because of the service — which his name I got, make sure to ask for JOE!
