Awesome fried green tomatoes, delicious salad with home-made blue cheese dressing, and my son’s chicken tenders were made with real chicken. The fries are super crispy outside and tender inside. My daughter said that she wished all fries were like the ones at Lucky Duck!

Thank goodness we finally have a place that serves something besides Mexican food and BBQ! We visit Lucky Duck frequently, and have never been less than thrilled with the quality of the food as well as the service. My kids love the burgers and grilled cheese, and my husband and I love the fried shrimp and catfish. Always fresh, and great portions. I saw another review where someone commented that the staff and owner were rude, and I honestly had to make sure they were reviewing the right restaurant. The staff has always been very polite and friendly, and if the owner is there, she is usually out on the floor, talking to customers and checking to make sure everyone is happy with their order. Great place, and a welcome addition to Taylor!

We stumbled upon this place on our way from Georgetown to College Station. So glad we stopped! What a cool joint with really, really good food. My whole crew(me, wife, 3 kids) all really liked our dishes. I had a HUGE chicken-fried chicken sandwich. Man, it was yummy. The wife and kids had a variety of things and even though much of it was fried, it was done very well and not at all greasy. Really well prepared and the ingredients were great. The folks working there were nice too and we saw quite a few locals come in there(yes, I am absolutely sure they were locals) and they were«elderly» locals. So for them to hit this joint tells me it’s got a good track record. It’s a bit of a drive but I’m gonna do it just to eat there again… gotta get another one of those chicken-fried chicken sandwiches. Awesome!

The food was great. We had several items that tasted homemade. This was everything you expect from a home style restaurant. We loved the atmosphere of the renovated street front building.

Had the chicken fried steak dinner with salad, mashed potatoes, and toast. Slap yo mama good! Made this pregnant lady and her growing baby happy campers! This was our first visit and can’t wait to try some of the other dishes! The place was clean and oh man the sweet tea…

One of the best newer places in town. Probably the best chicken fried chicken & chicken fried steak I’ve had in town. Staff is always friendly. Foods always HOT! And they also serve beer if that’s something you like too. The past few times we went we had a coupon from the mail so that was really nice.

This is a pretty good little place in Taylor. Great burgers and my daughter loves the fish. Hope it stays around.

This was my first time in the Lucky Duck. The building is quite nice, but that’s about as good as it gets this time. It’s a simple walk-up counter order. I ordered the mushroom burger, which came with fries, and ordered a drink. It’s a small 20 oz cup so when you add ice, it really only holds about 8 — 12 oz. This cost me $ 11.13. I know this doesn’t break the bank, but I’m used to getting a 5-star quality burger for that price. No seasoning could be tasted on the meat and the bun, although not small, was of cheaper quality. Fries were decent and were crispy, but again, no seasoning. Staff was very friendly and were the star of the show. This place is probably good for Taylor, but better can be had not that far away in Hutto.

Great fried shrimp & catfish! There prices are very affordable and they sent out a valuable coupon to get a meal free every few weeks. My only complaint is the portion size on the fried shrimp plates; most other restaurants would include 2 – 3 extra shrimp for the same price.

Delicious catfish & shrimp! Catfish can be tricky, but the food here is moist, hot, tender, and crispy on the outside. Not sure how they did it, but they managed to master the art of frying seafood!

Food is awesome! The customer service is beyond amazing! They truly love their patrons, and it reflects through every fiber they’ve put into their cozy café. This is my husband and I first time to Lucky Duck Café. I picked this for my birthday, and now I plan to come as often as I can.

The hubs – who has a culinary degree – has had the hand-battered, fried catfish three times in two weeks. Enough said!

Popped by for lunch on a Monday while passing through Taylor.( Unilocal said it was closed but it was open when we drove by, so we took a chance even though the reviews were so mixed.) Restaurant is nice and clean. Food was good– it’s fried-type food, it’s not«fine dining, so not sure what the other reviewers weren’t happy with. fries were great, BLT was delish and BIG! My toddler had a kids meal and husband had a grilled chicken spinach salad. The salad was fresh and good but on the small side for the price. There is no wait service here, so don’t expect it and you’ll be pleased. You order at the front, give them your name and then take a seat. They call your name when order is ready and you pickup. Not a big deal for me… like I said, casual dining. :) we would come back.

The service here is atrocious. Everyone is so incredibly rude including but not limited to the owner herself. I guess what can you expect from the staff if their leader is a totally unpleasant herself. The only reason I even gave this restaurant a 2 is because the food is actually good. The fried fish is fantastic. But in a town like Taylor if you piss off the locals you are throwing all hopes of having a successful business away. Too bad, we need a good restaurant that isn’t Mexican food SO bad!

Taylor needs a good restaurant so bad, unfortunately this is not it. First I was surprised by the styrofoam cup they handed me for my drink. Then the bill I signed had the nerve to have a place for a tip, when you counter order and get up and get your own food when they call you. I paid an extra $ 4.99 for shrimp on my salad and what I got was 3 popcorn shrimp cut in half. Disappointed and $ 35 poorer.

I’ve only tried their fish and shrimp but it is awesome. I also love the jalapeños hush puppies.

I wanted so bad to like this place; I really did. However I was so taken back by the fact that they are using hard Styrofoam plates, cups and plasticware. Apparently the owner, nor the manager who scoffed at me, give a darn about the impact on our landfill. I guess they look at us as small town, small minded and uneducated as to the impact this creates for our wonderful town. My shrimp was very salty even for me(and I love salt). The cheeseburger wasn’t anything special. The best thing item I purchased was a nice cold Bud Light. I won’t go back until they care as much about our beautiful community as I do :-(

Came here for lunch on a Thursday while passing through. The place is no frills… you order at the counter and they call your name, but it’s clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is good. They have a variety of sandwiches, burgers, and fried food platters. I ordered a BLT with fries and my coworker got a steak sandwich with fries. The food came quickly and was more than enough. The fries are battered and cooked, which made them very good. The bacon mess thick and crispy and the sandwich was served on grilled Texas toast. My coworker seemed to enjoy hers too. The sandwiches and fries were served in baskets, which made for easy clean-up once we were done eating. I was pleased with this place and would eat here again if ever in the area.

Nice new restaurant in Taylor. Pro: Good food. Good atmosphere. Cons: Food is served on styrofoam plates. Plastic forks and knives must be retrieved on your own, along with everything else. Management on duty the night of our busy was snippy when I suggested that given the effort they have put into the décor that they should consider using plastic plates and cups and provide metal utensils. Her reply, «I’m the Manager. We’ve heard that complaint multiple times but it isn’t changing.» Also, they close at 7:30 during the week. We didn’t know this, arrived at 7-ish and were surprised as they started putting chairs on tables and mopping floors while we were still eating dinner. So, cute place with good food(really good catfish). Seems like they are still working through customer service challenges though.

Great restaurant with lots of menu choices from sandwiches to burgers to fish plates and fried food. Appetizers, beer, wine and a kids menu make this a complete place. Additional party room and future ice cream parlor for other events. Located on 4th downtown with plenty of parking!
