Taos Gems & Minerals

I’ve been shopping here since 1989 when i first rolled into Taos. As time has passed rock shops and lapidary supply shops have slowly been fading away. Taos Gems & Minerals has stayed the course and has not changed over the years.
Quick to offer advice or order a stone they might not have in stock (you’ll have to try real hard to fine something not in stock). I’ve purchased rough and finished stones here as well as lapidary supplies.
It’s worth a look and you’ll get an education on what the good earth holds that is shiny and nice!

The staff are amazingly friendly and knowledgable. I went in with a group of students and the owners were so eager to help us out, to answer our questions. They have a huge collection of stones and minerals, and the store is perfectly organized. I loved being there, and wish I were in Taos more often to pay this store a visit.

This is a fantastic little store chock full of gems & minerals from around the world.
It is extremely interesting to browse around in this place.
They have cut stones, tumbled stones, specimens for collecting and some finished jewelry. There are also nifty gift items carved from different types of stone. There are display cases and drawers and drawers full of stones all nicely organized. You will love it !
It is on the main highway coming into Taos from the south and is on the east side of the highway.
Their prices are very fair.
What really makes this place unique is that the owners really know their stones and they will be glad to help you out and if they don’t know the answer they will look it up in one of the books or online. It is a relaxing kind of place with some chairs and couches to sit a spell. Everything is nice and tidy and displayed well.
Dog friendly too.
