I’ve been coming here since before I could walk.(When It was still Tim’s). The food and atmosphere is great, if you are a green chile fanatic then you NEED to try their green. Between New Years and Spring Break, do not be surprised to experience slower service and early closing. They roll with a two man crew during the slow months.

This place is an awesome little cozy joint at the bottom of the Mountain for a good bloody Mary and some nice grub. The Navajo taco was groovy!

Awesome pub with great service. Food is outstanding. Seating can get limited during peak times but the wait is usually short. Free water at the end of a hard day skiing is awesome along with the cold adult beverages. Friendly staff keeps the valley looking good. Been coming for years and always stop in at the end of the day.

We went into the Stray Dog to kill some time while waiting for snow tubing. Our waiter Todd was very friendly, and helpful and knew the beers and the menu. The service wasn’t super fast, but we weren’t in a hurry and he was the only waiter working the upstairs dining area. We ordered nachos and quesadillas to share and both were delicious. This is a good pub like place to pop in for a beer and a quick bite to eat.

We visited the Tim’s Stray Dog Cantina on our ski trip to Taos. The staff was great and worked really hard to keep up with the large crowds. The food was pretty good. The kitchen had a hard time keeping up with the demand created by the crowds. I think it is a good place to catch an appetizer and a beer after a day on the slopes.

Cool place to hang out and have a brew Very good food. Had enchiladas and nachos great and tasty. Friendly people and was crowded but good fun. If you expect quick service don’t As it took almost an hour to get food. Just have to be patient and enjoy surroundings Price is reasonable. Waitress a little light headed but nice

We ate here two evenings during July 2015 while we were staying at Alpine Vilage Suites in Taos Ski Valley on a hiking trip. It was the only place in town open during the summer and it was quite busy. This is a «bar that serves bar food» and shouldn’t be considered much else. The staff was friendly. I had a nachos meal one night and a chicken sandwich the other night. The food was EXTREMELY slow. If you can wait and don’t mind a rather limited menu, it is perfectly adequate.

The blue corn crusted chile rellanos with green chile were the best thing I’ve had in Taos! Our service was also impeccable. We will be back!!!

Great food, great service, great ski crowd & the Snow Melt(pint of beer with a frozen margarita snow ball floating on top) is the bomb.

We go for the most amazing drink called Chichicapa. It is a Margarita with Mezcal floated on top.

I am a recent convert of this place. It’s not exactly on the mountain, has no views and the benches aren’t too comfortable but ignore these details. This place has a consistently awesome crowd and $ 5 margarita/$ 5 frito pie happy hour deals. I like coming here on weeknights when I am feeling more low key. Waiters are awesome and the women’s bathroom is so well heated! A great place to warm up and drink up.

I got the Loco lata(Hawaiian burger) and the blue and green bacon burger(blue cheese with green chile). The Loco late was okay at best. It’s just a patty with a bed of rice and mush of flavors that they throw on top. The burger was also okay. I wish it was juicier but it was mediocre. It is a little pricey as well too. If you’re looking for a bar or a quick eat then this place is not bad.

tortilla soup was great. I had the huevos rancheros with green chile and those eggs were the best huevos that this gringo has ever had. Service was superb and the food was way above expectations for après ski.

Had 2 awesome meals here. Food full of chiles and flavor. Margarita was STRONG! You will taste the tequila not the mix.

When we left that morning to drive up to Taos on Thanksgiving Day, we didn’t know we’d stumble on this gem of a place. It felt so cozy and friendly and welcoming, I wanted to grab a room for the night and stay… well sort of. There was a bar to sit at as well as pic-nick style tables. The game was on TV… the planets had aligned. We ordered each a beer and I saw a blue cheese burger on the menu and had to try their version of what has become my favorite type of burger. We were offered a traditional Thanksgiving plate with turkey and the fixin’s but opted for what we wanted instead of what was expected on this day. Food was delicious! Staff was very friendly. If really felt like we were with family on a holiday. Makes me want to stay there next time and learn how to ski.

It’s Thanksgiving Day and we are just driving around sightseeing when we ended up in the Taos Ski Valley. We had no idea what was around or what we would find. We watched several people ski and at that point I wished I would have booked us a place in this area and tried to learn how myself. Oh well tis life. After watching the skiers we stumbled into the Stray Dog Cantina. It was lunch, we were hungry and they were open. We sat down ordered a few beers and watched the football games. The waitress came back and told us the whole menu was available but they also had a turkey dinner with stuffing and cranberries as well. I thought that was a great touch for those who wanted a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. I decided against it as this wasn’t a traditional type of Thanksging. I ordered the blue corn pork mole enchiladas with a side of grilled squash. UNBELIEVABLE! This was by far the best meal I had on the trip! I only had mole sauce once before and this version was better. It had a little hint of pepper to go with the choco goodness. I am still thinking about that meal 2 weeks later. I just googled it and it’s an 18 hour drive from my house and I am off work for 4 days. Those enchiladas were so good that it is that tempting.

Hubby and I have visited this place as much as we can whilst staying in the Taos Ski Valley June 2010 and June 2011. This joint is casual, relaxed, and comfy… and they serve great food! Burgers, green chile stew, pulled pork sandwiches(among others), reasonably priced beers on tap, and specialty margaritas… the menu isn’t pretentious, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. We’ve enjoyed everything we’ve had and are sad to leave the TSV! (Stray Dog also sells homemade chocolate chip cookies, 4 per saran-wrapped package, for $ 2.50!)
