Time For Wine

We came to Tampa from Punta Gorda and decided to try and find a winery. To our great surprise this place came up. While not a winery I HIGHLY recommend you stop if in the area they have wines you won’t find just anywhere. Cheryl and Charles were the most pleasant and EXTREMELY knowledgeable and so helpful in our selection we bought 6 bottles of wine. I would make a special trip just to come back !!

They’re fun and laid back too — perfect when wine tasting. I love that they offer many wines from smaller vineyards around the world.

We’ve all known about pairing wine with cheese and fruit, and matching your wine to a nice meal, but had you ever thought about pairing wine with chocolate?
A select group of Unilocalers got an education into the versatility of wine during our visit to the Schakolad Chocolate Factory this past week. Schakolad’s owner, Archie Bourne, invited Charles from Time For Wine to be our wine consultant for the evening and guide us through the complexities of matching the sweet taste of chocolate with various wines. My first thought when I heard about the idea of pairing wine with chocolate was a nice cold glass of German Riesling, but beyond that I was lost.
Charles took our palates on a tour of the major wine-​growing regions of the world with four different wines, and took the time to explain how each wine complemented the flavor profiles of white chocolate, milk chocolate, semi-​sweet chocolate, and dark chocolate. He taught us how the wines were crafted and also talked about using these same wines while cooking. Very educational.
As Charles kept talking the idea clicked in my head that this must be the same guy who has been hosting occasional home wine-​tasting parties for my business partner, and sure enough it turns out that Bill and his wife have been using Time For Wine for many years.
Time For Wine allows you to mix and match bottles of wine from their imported warehouse and purchase a case of assorted wines. They can customize the label on your bottle of wine for special occasions or corporate functions, and you can even have them laser-​etch a special message on a bottle of wine.
You’ll often see Time For Wine staffing a booth at many different events around Tampa, but if you’re a wine lover you should call them now to learn about hosting a home wine party for friends.

Time For Wine– What most people do not know is that knowledge is power and no industry is this more important than the wine industry. There is nothing more important than having a bona fide wine consultant that can pave the way.
Wine consultants should be thought of as tantamount to an investment advisor except your wine consultant is even more important. If you were to add up the number of times you visited a restaurant and ordered a bottle or two or three of wine and were a bit uneasy about what was the right price for the right wine, what would that have cost you? Even if you regarded this as a tax, this tax could add up to be very expensive should you make this common mistake over and over again.
Knowledge of how to read a wine list or discuss the listings of wine with a wine steward or sommelier can save your wallet from significant expense. Firstly there is a lot of mark up in wine particularly at a restaurant and the ability to decipher which wines on the list are good, who the good producers are, which years or vintage were decent in that region of which country, are enough variables to spin your head and wallet collectively. Wine consultants can educate you and save you from that embarrassing moment when the sommelier is standing by your tableside waiting for you to choose while your guests await your response as well.

I was recently at a wine tasting featuring a Time For Wine. Charles, the owner, was knowledgeable, friendly, charming, and best of all, passionate about wine. I really loved that he tried to have a variety of unique wines that I’d never heard of, much less tried. I asked about purchasing some of the wines I tasted and discovered that they were also reasonably priced. I ended up purchasing 4 bottles from him and will call him when the bottles run dry!

Personal touch and good service are unfortunately rare these days. Charles and Cheryl are so passionate about wine and so excited to teach others. Whether you want to host a wine tasting, just want a wine to drink that suits your style, or simply want to give a gift, they do it all. They do great custom labels and packaging as well. Charles has introduced us to several wines as well that we would have never found in the stores, and that have become favorites of ours and others whom we have introduced them to.
