There is a lot of stuff there. We went to buy something to treat water that might not be clean as we are going to be traveling and they had several options. I found the price a bit high but that is only an opinion as I have nothing to compare it too. It was hard to find and there are 2 addresses online which causes confusion.

Honestly, it wasn’t impressive. Loads of common items you’d expect to find at a surplus store, and nothing that would put it above anyplace else. The staff was relatively friendly but became less so when I pointed out a mismarked AK bayonet in the display case(it said it was for a SKS). One actually debated with me about it, obviously he wasn’t aware that there was never a detachable bayonet made for the SKS rifle. Everybody makes mistakes; but if they don’t care enough to correct such an error, I won’t be bothered to stop by again. About the only thing that would even remotely motivate me to do so would be the taco place next door! I also visited another military surplus store in Tampa with similar results. Are good surplus stores a thing of the past?

I have visited this shop a couple of times to pick up various items. While I am not in the military yet(planning on becoming an Air Force nurse soon), I love guns and hunting, and Army/Navy stores are great places to get supplies. Here are the pros and cons of Headquarters Army/Navy as I see them, in no particular order. Pros: 1) CAMO! If you are in the market for a uniform(do not wear one unless you have earned the right via being in the service) or just love camo like I do, you are in luck. They have a ton of items in various CAMO patterns. 2) Large selection of patches and bumper stickers. As a former EMT, I was glad to see they include fire/EMS/police patches and stickers in addition to the military ones. 3) Lots of camping/survival supplies. They have tents, canteens, shovels, MREs, camp stoves, emergency water packets, and more. A lot more than you’ll find in your average Wal-Mart, that’s for sure. They even have the official military survival manual(1970 edition). Great place to stock up for hurricane season! 4) The staff is friendly and helpful, especially the woman who works behind the counter. 5) Cute little gifts. Look by the register and you’ll find a variety of small military themed gifts. As a female gun owner, I love the bullet necklaces. 6) Nice selection of knives and paintball gear. Cons: 1) The place is a bit small. I don’t suffer from claustrophobia, but the store is a small space with a ton of items packed in. Some anxiety suffers might feel overwhelmed. 2) Some of their items are pricey. They sell used and rusted 30 cal ammo cans for $ 20. I’ve seen clean, brand new 50 cal(bigger) ammo cans for $ 18 at a store less than 10 mins away. I’ve seen new 30 cal cans for around $ 15. Overall, I like this surplus store very much and plan to go back again.

As Mike S. said in his review, most Army — Navy surplus stores are a dingy collection of used military goods, but this store is quite the opposite. The name is actually«Headquarters Army Navy» and they specialize in brand-new clothing, boots and equipment. Most of the customers are paintball aficionados, and they’re looking for camouflage clothing, military boots, and paintball supplies which Headquarters Army Navy has in abundant supply. You can also find a great selection of camping and hunting gear, as well as some knives, canteens, cooking supplies, and other equipment to add to your hurricane supplies box. Finally there’s also a collection of military and tactical gear including pants, shorts, jackets, holsters, and other specialized equipment. This is one of the few places in town to find PROPPER-brand tactical pants and shorts, along with some heavy duty t-shirts. You’ll find Headquarters Army Navy at the little triangular-shaped intersection where Skipper Road meets Bearss Avenue, just to the east of Nebraska Avenue. Watch for the military jeep parked out by Bearss Avenue, and turn into the gravel parking lot.

This is almost an upscale Army-Navy store compared to most, some of whom still have a big inventory of surplus, worn goods from all nations and eras. This one has mostly newly-manufactured goods, including uniform pieces, boots and a deep variety of cammie oufits. Also good on decorations, insignia, brass, unit patches, etc. Also much brighter, cleaner and less cluttered than the venerable Army-Navy claustrophobia cave downtown. Also plenty of parking in the triangle where Skipper Road meets Bearss.
