Cleanse Apothecary

Everything in the store, all makeup, all products are CRUELTY-​FREE!!! YAY! Love that about this place! If it’s true and he wasn’t trying to shut me up… More on that later…
One thing that really irritated me though, was NOTHING is labeled for the price, and the man at the register in the store side where all the bath items were, was more preoccupied in what he was doing, the man in the coffee side was more helpful. I had to ask about the candles price and was unsure of what I heard in his unintelligible mumblings, so I said, «$ 60 or $ 16?» genuinely confused, and he was like «.sixty.». We continued to browse some more, me having to ask several more times the prices on all the unmarked items (pet peeve for my husband, when not marked, so he just followed me around). I scoped out the clearance rack for items that were marked down to 75% off, and we ended up getting a few bowls that used to be around $ 11 and then rang up to $ 2.50 each, and we got some Key Lime chapstick by the register for like $ 5… and once my husband opened his wallet to pull out one of the 100 dollar bills, he perked right up, and had a much better attitude towards us. It was actually kind of ridiculous, crap you’d see pulled in a movie. That irritated me.
I give them positive stars for being a quaint little shop containing ALL cruelty-​free products, as said the grumpy-​turned helpful employee, despite many products not being labeled with the little bunny that signals cruelty-​free/​no animal testing labels. So I hope he wasn’t just saying that everything was cruelty-​free just to placate me and shut me up from asking about every item I was interested in’s:
–price
–cruelty free brand or not.
They did have an amazing Lavender fragrance that was divine, I might want that for lowering stress/​anxiety when traveling, it’s good to have. Maybe I will be back to scope it out and hope there is a different employee, but realistically we will probably only come back in here if we are already in the Blind Tiger that this place shares an open wall with.

Great store! Went in looking for a natural mosquito repellent and they did not disappoint! Couldn’t leave without getting a lovely bar of soap too!

Fresh and clean and spa-​esque! This store is full of nice toiletries like soap, facial cleansers, make up, scrubs, candles, perfumes, and kitchen and unique housewares.
This is a great place to pick up a nice present. They also gift wrap your purchase for you. I met the owner who was very nice and welcoming. This place will call your name right away with the bright colors of this building from the outside.

Went today for first time ever. Wish I had went before. Found some great philosophy products– enjoying the lotion on me right now. Bought so nice soaps. Great local shop.

This place has a lot of choices and its nice/​quaint. The owner/​staff is very attentive and helpful. Itself the place is clean and nicely put together… i got the summery handmade soaps for myself and as a gift and they are great. I will definitely be going back… hooray for small businesses who treat you with more friendliness and genuineness.

This isn’t really my type of place, so I’m rating it as a place to purchase gifts for my wife. They have a wide variety of fresh handcrafted soaps, lotions, candles, kitchen wares, etc. The staff is very friendly, offered good advice, and are exactly the kind of people I’m glad to give business to.
One huge plus to me is that unlike mall staples such as Bath and Body Works, Cleanse smells clean, not like a perfume truck crashed into a chemical plant.
Highly recommended, even though almost nothing here directly appeals to me.

Every time I enter this shop, I think ‘I need to come here more!’ The atmosphere is clean and relaxing. The Owner is very friendly and helpful. My last Saturday visit they even had some spiked apple cider to treat their clientele.
This is a great spot to pick up unique housewarming gifts, hostess gifts, gifts for hard-​to-​please people, etc. They have an eclectic assortment of quality name brands in soaps, body sprays, lotions, miscellaneous grooming products, candles, greeting cards, and even small housewares. I find that is hard for me to leave this store without picking up something to pamper myself with, too.
Prices are in line with what you would expect to pay for a better line of products. They do an excellent job of wrapping gifts, so I highly recommend them for easy holiday shopping. Support locally owned small businesses and come pay them a visit!

This store has everything you need to get clean or to make yourself and your home smell like sunshine. Also the owner, I forget his name, is WONDERFUL. Exceptional customer service.

Cleanse is a great opportunity to support a local/​neighborhood retailer. Shoppers will find face and body wash products, candles and some limited home goods. Common mid-​price brands are available — such as Bliss, Pre de Provence, Philosophy and Tag. A nice shop to explore for gift giving. Organized and clean.
For me, the drawback is the name — «Apothecary» — for those who have experienced more sophisticated ‘drugstores’ in larger cities you might be surprised by the lack of diversity (no cosmetics, perfume, herbal tinctures — and no pharmacist!).
So, while this is definitely a nice addition to Florida Ave and will serve locals/​those in the area well, personally, I wouldn’t go out of my way since the experience was not unique enough.

This business makes so much sense, or should that be scents? Beautiful soaps made by hand, scrumptious scrubs to leave your skin glowing and all sorts of lotions to make your look and feel smooth, soft and even sparkly are stocked throughout this one-​of-​a-​kind shop.
Despite the name, not everything sold here is for the primary purpose of leaving you feeling cleaner and fresher. There are also holiday items, scented candles, beautiful books about cooking, decorating and entertaining along with health and beauty products for both men and women.
After shopping here for the first time I could not wait to shower. But a lunch appointment and other commitments forced me to postpone my personal product test a few more hours before the pouring, foaming, scrubbing and soothing could begin. It was well worth the wait.
I tried three products and all proved to be nicely — and not too powerfully –scented and capable of making my skin look, feel and seem less dry. Bravo.
It will be a treat to continue to explore and experience the products offered here, many of which I am not at all familiar with, and, hopefully, the results will keep that glow going.

I have wanted to visit Cleanse since they opened. Thankfully my thoughtful friend Katy T bought me the best sugar scrub ever for my birthday and once I was hooked I had to come to Cleanse to get more. I love everything about this store. I’m a sucker for products but sometimes there is too much to look at and choose from so I give up. Cleanse is not like that. I love that they have a variety of quality products but the store set up is simple and not overwhelming. The flow of the store is really nice too, in the front when you walk in it is all products for your body, in the next room is home fragrance which leads into the back room which is home accessories (well done). Greg, the owner, was there when I visited and was SUPER helpful and friendly. Not only did he walk me through the store and help me find what I was looking for but he also gave me a lot of fun samples to take home (ps: I have loved every single sample he gave me and I can’t wait to go back and get more).
I came to Cleanse to get more of the Primal Sugar Whip. If you like sugar scrubs I highly recommend this product. It’s the best sugar scrub I have tried and it smells amazing. I think people tend to think that shopping local can be more expensive but Cleanse has the same pricing that you would pay online (maybe $ 1 difference). Personally I would rather support local business and have the experience of browsing in a store vs. buying something online and paying for shipping.
I also purchased a Voluspa candle while there. These candles are great and worth every penny. Not only are they very aesthetically pleasing but the fragrances are so unique and travel throughout your entire house (plus they last long). I choose the Goji Tarocco Orange and have not been disappointed.
I had a great shopping experience at Cleanse and loved the time Greg spent with me to talk about the products. I will definitely be back!

I have never been disappointed by a purchase at Cleanse. I am sensitive to artificial fragrances so it is great to be able to visit a store like this and not sneeze! Greg is awesome and I love supporting our local businesses! It is a tad pricey but worth every penny to know I am buying high quality items that don’t negatively impact my sensitive nose and skin.

I have wanted to visit Cleanse for some time now. Shame on me for living in Seminole Heights for 2 years and never venturing over.
Upon entering, I was surprised at how big the shop is and the variety of products. I had a great time walking around smelling all of the candles and bath products. I ended up making a few impulse purchases of Christmas napkins, an owl ornament, and some bath products.
The owner was extremely helpful and friendly. Cleanse is going to be my go to spot for smelly good items going forward!

Cleanse is unique to the Seminole Heights area in that it’s not a restaurant or a bar, and unique in the fact that its an Apothecary, which is pretty cool in it’s own right. They have a wide selection of soaps and fragrances for men and women, as well as razors and other accoutrements for personal grooming. I found their prices to be extremely reasonable and they carry some great imported items as well, especially if you are into French soaps. The staff was incredible, and spent the extra time to help me find what I needed. Overall it was a great shopping experience, and I highly recommend Cleanse for your beauty/​grooming needs!
