In the interest of full disclosure, I’ve gotten to know the owner and most of the staff. That I go here once a week or more should tell you something about the store. I’m surprised that so many people I meet have no idea that Rummy’s exists. It’s a neat little neighborhood bar, grill, and pizza/pasta restaurant. Locally owned and you’ll very often find the owner in the kitchen or on the grill. I can be a bit of an odd duck when ordering. At Rummy’s I get a salad called the Bob. It’s actually their very good Cobb salad with Buffalo sauce-dipped grilled chicken, sided with mango-habanero hot sauce. Yes, I do put hot sauce on salads. And breakfast eggs, And most other stuff, too. I’m not sure what it is about the lettuce here — it’s always cold and crisp. In many, many salads, I’ve yet to be presented with sub-standard lettuce. My partner is partial to the Wedge. In the full portion you get fully a half head of iceberg lettuce with generous servings of dressing, tomato, and bacon. We usually opt for the Gorgonzola. House made and consistently good, this would make my shoe taste good. One can also a Wedge side salad, portioned as ¼ head of lettuce. Rummy’s also produces some mighty fine wings. I get them Buffalo hot and ask for Chicago style, which gets the wings tossed on the open flame char-grill. That’s some darned fine eating there. And Rummy’s still serves large wings, not the little chick wings some restaurants are peddling. The menu includes several sandwiches, pastas, and a large pizza selection. My partner(a self-proclaimed pizza expert) that Rummy’s has some of the best pizza crust she’s had. Hand tossed in the open kitchen, it’s thin-crisp and chewy. Select a house pie or build your own. I’ve had to give up wheat, so I get sandwiches plated with no bread. The hot Bradley sausage link is excellent, char grilled and topped with peppers and onions. I also get the Rummy burger, all the way sans bun, and ask for crispy fries as my side. Rummy’s still hand cuts their fries, and they are indeed delicious. But so are the cooked to order potato chips. Decisions, decisions. Service is usually top notch. We’ve settled on a few of the wait staff as our favorites, but really, any of them we’re had have been good. Any food problems are quickly and courteously taken care of(on the rare occasion we’ve had an issue). A full bar with daily happy hour specials draws a consistently large crowd. And with the warmer weather, dining al fresco has on the covered patio has become popular. There are several games for the kids, too, to help ease any wait time. I guess it’s obvious I like Rummy’s. It’s not fine dining, but it’s not a dive, either, just a comfortable place with good food and friendly people. And that’s why we continue to go there.

When they are on, they are on, but if they are off, well it turns me away! I really like their Cobb salad, but the wings are hit and miss which makes me stay away when I hit the miss. The last time I went, the wings tasted like they were sitting around a while, and from the looks of the lunch crowd, maybe they thought there were going to be a lot of people at lunch, and fried up a bunch. Bottom line is, I won’t be going back any time soon. Attention to consistency would be my suggestion to keep the same people coming back for more.

Food was really good, great menu, large selection of pizza. However, the ceiling is major need of cleaning. The high open ceilings haven’t been cleaned and dust is caped up on the rafters and ductwork.
