Since my freshman year of college, I’d sit back, relax and enjoy America’s Pastime at Dick Howser Stadium. It’s a gorgeous ballpark with excellent shade coverage during those hot, dog days of summer. And as of 2016, beer is now sold on premise! What’s better than cold beer, a hot dog and the crack(or ping) of the bat? You guessed it, nada! The Noles have some loyal freakin’ fans, too. I’m talking about fans who cheer/scream/shout for every single pitch of a nine inning game. It’s a magical place. Even those who aren’t FSU fans can appreciate its beauty. Florida State, Florida State, Florida State. Woooo!

College baseball, while it doesn’t get the same national recognition as football or basketball, has a loyal and passionate following at Florida State. The folks at FSU recognize this and have built a facility that is among the best in the nation. Capacity is just over 6,700 with the majority of the seats included in the grand stands stretching from first to third base. Park dimensions are 340′ to left, 400′ to center, and 320′ to right. The power alleys are 365′ to left-center and 360′ to right-center. To compensate for the short porch in right, a 30′ screen(aka«The Chain Link Monster») stands between batters and the famed«circus shot». The FSU Circus Complex sits just beyond the right field screen and is the bench mark for big home run shots. Aside from the field, the fans themselves can be as entertaining as the game. «The Animals of Section B» frequently serenade opponents with anti-fight songs and alternate versions of baseball classics, like«Take Me Out of the Ballgame» when a pitcher struggles. Baseball superstition dictates that«O’ Canada» must be sung prior to the Seminoles at bat in the fifth as well. Season tickets are sold out in the grand stand, but are available in general admission for $ 70(adult) and $ 35(youth 5 – 18). Children under 4 are free. Single game admission is $ 7 for adults and $ 5 for youths, with all admissions on Tuesdays being $ 2. For college sports, this is as fan and family friendly as it gets!
