Good BBQ, I liked their take on a Yankee sandwich with pork and beef combo but was a bit disappointed with the BBQ beans. They seemed like they came out of a can and were boiled to where they were a thick gooey mess. Not flavorful at all. Overall the visit was good and I will give them a second chance

Bottom Line: Jim & Milt’s gets a 5-star in class(class being«Fixture of TLH landscape and integral part of FSU experience while providing unassuming yet foundational breakfast, lunch, dinner options for people» There’s a good reason I’m here at 9:30am on a Thursday and 75% of the tables are taken. Many local business deals are sealed at Jim & Milt’s. Many students depend on this place for sustenance. During homecoming weekend, I can only imagine the line to get in(during the«off hours»). Why? Well, primarily, because of a VERY comfortable environment. With friendly service delivering consistently good short-order fares across three daily meals — patrons can depend on leaving satisfied. The picnic benches serve as enormous two-tops as well as capable eight-tops. My favorite meal is breakfast — 90% of my visits have been in the morning. Occasionally, I’m able to get barbeque as my breakfast meat and that’s a real score. In short — come to Jim & Milt’s to experience TLH precisely as it was in 1987 when I first visited this gem.(Ok, maybe the wifi password was different back then…)

Called at 8:10 for take out, 10 hot wings. Was told about 10 – 15 minutes. Showed up at 8:30 told it wasn’t ready. Eventually get my order, take it to my car and bite into the first wing. Ice cold, it was clear I got someone else’s old order. If this place was once good, the glory days are over. If this isn’t a case of absentee owners Jim and Milt, I am shocked.

Breakfast is absolutely delicious and definitely recommend trying their daytime menu too. Took my children there a Sunday after gameday and was completely packed but well worth it. It’s busy for a reason

If you want to be impressed, this staple might leave you disappointed. If you want no-fills, good smokehouse BBQ with a tasty compliment of sides, Jim&Milts has you covered. This is actually my regular BBQ haunt, so it’s probably why I only gave it 3 stars. I’m use to it. It doesn’t wow me… and yet I keep coming back. Because it’s comfortable. It’s unpretentious. It’s good. It’s my «BBQ place». I usually get the ¼ chicken with a side of fries, letting the girls switch up the 2nd side on me from time to time. If you have gluten issues be sure to tell your server because they will plop a big ‘ol hunk of Texas Toast right on top, and it looks good enough to gluten yourself for. The sodas comes in Vat o’ Soda size so if you want smaller, ask. It’s set you back $ 10-ish/pp No more than $ 15 with drink for dinner.

Great deals and great service. The girls helped us decide and were very knowledgeable about the food. The soup was fantastic!

Jim & Milt’s is a staple in Tallahassee. It encompasses Seminole pride, traditional BBQ and gives off the sense of «we’re all in this together.» Having said that, it’s hit or miss whether you’ll find a memorable meal here. Everything is just okay. I never been at a loss of words having nearly tried the entire menu.(I used to live on Pensacola Street, and when you’re in college it’s difficult to pass up a $ 3 breakfast, cheap pitchers and .39 cent wings). A large party of mine dined in before the last home game Saturday morning. Breakfast is cheap and filling. Unfortunately, that’s about it. I’ll forever associate Milt’s with FSU football and my best friends from college. You don’t come here for the food, but pull up a picnic bench and stay because of the atmosphere.

I’ll try to not be too harsh. I’m from out of town and wanted to have some good«southern» bbq before I head back home in the morning. This place was horrible! I have my own smoker at home and I can make better food than this place. I ordered a platter with my choice of two meats. The ribs were tough the meat didn’t want to fall off the bone and had little to no smoked flavor. The«beef» was not brisket. It was simply sliced roast beef. No idea how it was cooked. Tasted boiled. No flavor, definitely not smoked. Last but not least, the sauce. There was only one kind of sauce at my table and it tasted no better than anything you can buy at the store. This place needs to up their game! Located near a busy side of campus, it could do soooo much better. Definitely not the delicious southern barbecue I was wanting.

Went to yesterday and my husband ordered all you can eat chicken and pork. I ordered ribs. Both very good. Come with 2 side. I got stew and fried corn. He got bean and coleslaw both very good. But service very very slow.

Good wings and .59 each on some days. We tried the following: Sauce is good Ranch is good Fried Corn, smushy and served Luke warm Potato Salad, sweet Brunswick Stew, not sure how it’s «world wide» lots of canned tomatoes. Fried Okra, great. Texas Toast good. Beef had a smoke ring but was bland as if steamed. Pork, I’m guessing this is what others called stale. Ribs best meat on trio combo Tossed Salad, good iceberg lettuce Chicken Wings and Sweet Tea best thing we tried and the only things we suggest.

Their wings are da bomb, they make their own dressings, they have steak fries and are super cheap. What more could you want in life?

Great BBQ!!! I started going to Jim and Milt’s back when I went to TCC in 1989. Back then I heard about their awesome steak and eggs breakfast! I ate there every tuesday and thursday morning for 2 semesters! The amount of food for the price was great for a fulltime sudent with a fulltime job, kep me filled up for most of the day. I just started going back last summer for the BBQ. My favorite is the sliced pork sandwich on garlic bread. Pork is smoked perfect everytime I go, nice lean moist slices along with there own BBQ sauce is delish!

My friends and I used to hit this place up during their all-you-can-eat wing nights. Awesome!

Excellent BBQ. Not sure what some of the other reviewers are coming from, but the BBQ here is very good and it’s a Tallahassee institution. I had the BBQ beef, which was moist and tasty. If you haven’t been, it’s a must visit.

I worked at Jim and Milts Barbecue for the Flury Family for five years of my life during my undergrad at FSU. Not only do I consider this restaurant my home and a place in my heart forever but their food is food that you cannot get anywhere else. I crave a pork sandwich on barbecue bread with cheese dipped in barbecue sauce with a side of fries and a side of ranch dressing to dip them in, at least once a month. Clearly not the healthiest of meal choices but there’s nothing like it. If you have the opportunity to go you should. Beware on game day it’s crazy busy and you’ll definitely have to wait. That’s the hazard of being so close to the stadium.

First of all if you’re coming to Jim and Melts make sure you arrive before 1030 to get the breakfast menu. The breakfast is amazing for the price. The waitresses are fast and respectful. Favorite place to get breakfast in town because it’s fast cheap good quality and locally owned. I recommend everyone try out the breakfast before leaving tallahassee.

Go for the ambiance, and stay away because of the ambiance. Kidding, mostly. It’s good basic bbq. Fried corn cob was good, with some extra salt. Had the Yankee sandwich — meat on a bun — again good, but nothing else on that. Service was fine though they re-filled my ¼ diet coke with sweet tea, which tastes kind of funny, btw. The«famous brunswick stew» was good though I doubt it’s famous outside their door. As my lunch companion said, it’s a great place to go pick up men, if you aren’t picky that is ;)

I’ve been a customer of Jim & Milt’s since the ‘70s. Haven’t been there much recently, as I’m living a couple hundred miles away now, but it’s still the same old place. Wooden benches at picnic tables, the Hobo Special, pretty good breakfasts, and decent enough Que. They’re not world class, or anything, but you know what you’re getting when you go. Pitchers of beer are still pretty cheap(tho not the $ 1.25 of my misspent youth) and the waitstaff are pretty good at keeping beverages filled, and checking for re-orders if you opt for one of the all-you-can-eat meals. The place hasn’t changed much in 35(give or take) years — they ain’t fixin’ what ain’t broke.

Great food and really friendly service! I used to go here all the time in college and was back last weekend for a football game. The sliced pork was lean and not too dry. The«yankee» BBQ has a sauce with a little bit of a kick but not too spicy which I’d recommend as well. The baked beans have a little bit of bell pepper & onion which gives them a little more flavor than you’d find most places. They also have great fried okra which isn’t too greasy. I didn’t have it this trip but they have EXCELLENT breakfast, including the pancakes. They also some of the best BBQ chicken or country fried steak around. Try the sweet tea too… sweet without being too sweet.

GREATBBQ Chicken! I never think of Florida as a place for bbq, even though its still in the south. After touring FSU I was famished and since I had been barbecuing my way through the south, I was still in the mood for more. Unilocal helped me find this place. I know BBQ is supposed to be pork in this part of the country, and its weird for me to base my review on chicken, but you don’t know the facts. The fact is that the day’s special was all-you-can eat chicken for a very low price($ 6.99 I think). The chicken was juicy and delicious, I obviously was looking for a second plate and then BAM, the waitress drops the«we’re out of chicken» bomb. Crisis! However she immediately offered me a plate of pulled pork and beef to compensate. They were okay, but not in the same league as their chicken! I loved the college atmosphere(FSU hotties), the benches reminded me of Rudy’s. If your destination is Tallahassee, check this place out!
