Davis Tree Management

My project was construction of a new detached garage structure in Carnelian Bay. The garage foundation was placed for location very close to a few very large old growth pines which I wanted to preserve. If I could not preserve these trees, the garage project would be cancelled. JD not only designed the system to protect and irrigate the roots during construction, but he also was a key team member in determining the exact perimeter of the foundation, clearances from the root systems, permanent protection under ground for the root systems, and the boundaries of teh paving area. He was always on-​site as needed to work with the contractor and make sure the contractor and workers understood the priority I had placed on keeping these trees in place, alive and healthy. Now, almost two years later, the trees continue to thrive and I also have the new garage structure I wanted.

Owning a home in the Tahoe area means tree management. Over the years I’ve had other tree companies work on my property, but I am happiest with the work that JD did for me.
JD is a solid arborist and can recommend care as needed, or whether a tree needs removal. He doesn’t make unnecessary work and suggest topping trees that might simply waste your money. He is very careful with his workers, and everyone involved is going to be properly insured, protecting you.
What I liked best though, is that all of the other tree services have simply wanted to take down the trees. If it’s convenient, they might split the rounds but mostly I’ve ended up with rounds and branches left. JD arranged for splitting of some enormous rounds left over from a previous tree I had taken down and was having difficulty getting cleaned up — the previous company didn’t want to deal with that and others I talked to said it was too difficult to get a splitter to the property. His crew cleaned up the area extremely well of all the debris from the trees he took down as well as the debris left by previous companies. He also gave me a recommendation for a company (the Family) to finish up the rest of the property cleanup including very old rotted rounds that would have been excessively expensive for his crew to take care of. He provided solid, complete service.
I’m quite happy I called him, and will keep working with him in the future to manage the trees on my property.

I contacted JD Tree Services to do some defensible space work at my property in Alpine Meadows. After accepting JD’s bid, I inquired when was the earliest that he could do the work. Amazingly, he said 8:30 the next morning! His crew was fast, professional, and courteous. They also cleaned up nicely, stacking the wood to the side of the property and removing all debris. Top service on all fronts — highly recommended.

I had a tree fall and needed some others taken down. Jeff was prompt in looking at the site, providing a competative bid, and getting 7 dead trees down in challenging conditions and when promised without additional charges.
Jeff was professional, honest, timely and on budget. After dealing with several other companies on the project I’m glad that I choose JDtree and would highly recommend them.

We have a second home in Dollar Point near Tahoe City. One of the fir trees on our property died suddenly and we needed to have it taken down. It was a huge tree, about 2.5 feet in diameter. A friend staying there recommended JD Tree, and Jeff Davis had looked at the tree and bid on the job.
I contacted them through their online form, received a response that evening by email, agreeing to do the work last Wednesday. I live in Walnut Creek, so drove up first thing in the morning, looking forward to watching the crew at work. I arrived at 9:30 and watched them clean up – they were done in two hours, left the property immaculate, including sweeping the street before they packed up and took off.
I’ve had quite a bit of experience with tree crews and have to say this is the best I’ve dealt with. The whole team was totally professional, positive, and high energy. Jeff, the owner, puts customer service and employee safety ahead of money. It’s obvious why this guy is successful. He’s also very knowledgeable about trees and their diseases.
