Lunch here was nice. I was the only person in the restaurant(had the place to myself – *smile*) Ordered the cashew shrimp. Lunch was an uneventful basic chinese meal. I am not sure of the«large» portions served here, but they were moderate. The meal was nothing special – I enjoyed it. Chinese egg rolls were made like American style eggrolls – Americanized eggroll wrapper filled with lots of cabbage, you’d find in a cafeteria. Where was the Asian egg roll wraps? Overall«OK» I have had better.

One of the best places in Taft. Great food. Heavenly shrimp is my fav. The only downfall is the atmosphere, it’s always awkward and too quiet. Great people must of the time

Really good food in an old place. I was born in Taft and remember this place from the 1950s and 1960s. So it’s an old building. But the food is excellent! It’s all good no matter what you order. I eat here at least twice per week and they make an excellent meal. The only complaint I have is the place could be cleaner. The doorknobs are sticky and things like that. But the food is excellent.

Ok, I admit I was judging the book by its cover before I even ordered. I should know better too. The place definitely could be upgraded, but OMG was the food good. I love good food and this one was a very happy surprise for us. All 3 main course meals we ordered were heat hot and had just the perfect amount of kick. The best part was the plates were full of meat and not a bunch of filler sauce and unwanted vegetables. Don’t get me wrong, I love vegetables, but when I order Mongolian beef, I want beef, not a plate full of onions with sauce and a few slices of meat. I took pics of the three plates we ordered. We were very pleased with our meal. Enough so that I went back to our motel, laid on the bed and wrote this review. We did order appetizers, but I would skip them and go for the main courses because they were above and beyond good. Please don’t judge this place by appearance, it might stop you from getting an awesome meal!

I absolutely love Ongs. It is the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Ridiculous. That guy that complained and suggested the spot by Albertsons? That place is horrific.

At first I didn’t know what to think with two opposite reviews. I found a clean building and a friendly owner. Food was made promptly and my Kun Pow Beef was plenty spicy. Prices were good and the food was great tasting for the price.

Do not go here!!! First the smell as you come in is disgusting! It smells like mildew and really old building. When I walked in I literally lost my appetite! I ordered the sezchwan chicken and asked for it to be spicy. It wasnt spicy at all and it had a wierd taste to it kinda like the smell to the building! Lol. The rice was cold and so were my noodles the egg roll that came out was about the size of my pinkie and was soaked in oil. I didn’t like anything about this place and the friends I were with didn’t like theirs either they had the oarnge chicken and sweet and sour pork. The orange chicken was so bad my friend only ate two pieces. I tried it and it had a disgusting taste to it ad texture. I you are in Taft for any reason I highly suggest to go to the china Buffett by albertsons much better.
