Came here for drinks and music and loved the vibe! Didn’t try the food(which I heard is great) so I will definitely be back for that! I thought it was so cool how you cook your own steaks on their giant grill(it looked clean, don’t worry). Super fun touch. The staff was also extremely friendly and helpful. The décor is warm and cozy and I loved all the oil rain lamps– reminded me of my grandma’s house c; haha

A concept steakhouse I’ve been to before where one cooks their own food. The price is very reasonable, and the steak was actually very good. We ordered the 18 ounce bone in prime rib. The restaurant is little short on appetizers, and they could expand by adding a filet mignon for those who enjoy that type of cut. The mac and cheese was undersized and needed seasoning. But overall it was a very nice experience, and the ambiance was that of a New York steak house back in the 1940s. Service was very good too. I would definitely go back.

We stumbled upon this place while waiting for AAA. Great retro atmosphere/ambiance, loved the alter to David Bowie. The grill your own steak is the perfect way to get your grill on in the cold, dark, wet, winter. Comfortable place to have a drink and get your grub on!

bar tender went out of his way to disrespect my friend. Lee was the bartenders name. my friend(who’s visiting from out of town) was showing us his bands music video and the bartender came up and watched with us for a few seconds then out of no where pressed home screen on my friends phone forcing us to stop watching the video. After confronting him about it he said its because he didn’t get tipped well, when we all had tipped him $ 2. Then he said it was too loud. I told him he could have easily asked us to turn it down instead of doing what he did. We all felt pretty disrespected by the whole situation. He went out of his way to be a dick to a stranger. not cool.

Found this fun place via a Unilocal search and, after reading the rave reviews as well as posts from the restaurant announcing their win for Best New Restaurant in Tacoma for 2015 title from King 5, checked it out for a mid-week dinner treat. The staff were very friendly, and we loved the mid-century boudoir/burlesque theme and décor, as well as the FREE jukebox that features an extremely eclectic mix of music ranging from Aretha Franklin and James Brown to Elton John and Queen to The Clash and The Rolling Stones! The unique drink menu features creative tiki punch bowls for sharing with friends. The food menu is very non-traditional in that you cook your own main course, as well as some of the sides(I opted for a marinated veggie skewer), on a giant grill that dominates the wall of windows at the entrance to this 21+ dinner club. Our steaks were very reasonably priced and of excellent quality. There is a seasoning bar to one side of the grill that offers many flavor profiles for your«naked» steak. We had a blast grilling our own meat, assisted by a how-to card at each table that provided helpful hints for cooking your steak just right. Last but definitely not least are the made from scratch desserts featured on their daily fresh sheet. The key lime pie was amazing, and definitely worth saving some room for! This is not a snooty steakhouse or hipster bar — just a fun, casual place to dine out with friends, a significant other, or even fly solo while enjoying good company and a great vibe. We will definitely be repeat customers!

Friendly staff, very unique place. I really dig the art. I love the fact you can season and grill your own steak! I’ve been twice and I’m a big fan. Pearfect cider and a nice steak dinner for under $ 20, can’t beat it.

Absolutely wonderful. Fun tiki drinks, wonderful kitsch décor, and a free jukebox that is heavy on the Lou Reed and David Bowie. You cook your own meat, share your large tiki drinks, and generally drink in the delicious vibe.

It is with great sadness that I am here to proclaim my deep and undying LOVE for The Zodiac Supper Club. *sigh* You know how it is: you have this really great thrift store or club you go to… and you really want to share it but — selfishly — you *don’t* want to because you don’t want it to get wrecked by overcrowding, overshopping, hipsters, etc. etc… This is a retro-style dive with excellent cocktails, big booths and a fantastic wide-ranging juke box. When I said I was a whiskey drinker who gravitated towards Sazeracs, the bartender created an excellent Sazerac– style cocktail using Aquavit in place of the Pernod. It was extremely well made, very smooth, and well priced at under $ 10. They have food but we haven’t tried it yet — there’s a huge grill in the front of the bar for steaks($ 9-$ 25) and sausages. They advertise tacos. You can get your grub on if you need an excuse for another drink! I have to mention the art in the Zodiac. They have great velvet art, sad eyed waif prints… but also huge, incredible prints by one of the owner’s friends, Jackie Dunn Smith, a well-known tattoo artist from San Diego. Her work reminds me of Marcel Dzama. I am entranced. (Also…check out the bathrooms for the far out constellation murals!) We met one of the owners, Suzanne, and she is so charming. Her excitement for the bar is infectious. Along with her partners, it sounds like they’ll be doing a lot of fun events(a Wigstock Party is in the works). I wish them great success! Okay, I did the right thing… I told you all about my new favourite bar. It’s more important that I spread the word about Zodiac and just deal with the repercussions… I’ll just prove my love and go there a lot and be the true president of their fan club… they’ll see!!! I will love them most!!!

The Zodiac is a new secret retro mixologist venue in Downtown Tacoma. Worth checking out. The place is 60s and 70 themed.
