I rarely get my hair done but was tired of my grown out old dye. After TONS of combing through reviews I decided to try Willow. My appointment was easy to make and they had good availability, the woman on the phone was able to give me an approximate cost and the stylist i’d be seeing, Shelby. When I came in there was one other person waiting as we were the first appointments of the day, the front desk lady immediately greeted me and offered me refreshments. My stylist was ready to go and definitely took the time to listen to what I wanted and offer suggestions to fit my desires and she definitely delivered! I didn’t want anything too crazy and she listened too that, the balayage color is perfect, it lets me feel more girly without being kind of out there and she didn’t take a ton off when she cut it after telling her I really wanted to keep my length. Overall wonderful experience and she was personable as well as very knowledgeable and made the time fly by!

My very first time to Willow. Peggi did my haircut and it turned out wonderful!!! I went to Supernova a couple of times before and it was BAD… very BAD. I had to come back again to get my haircut fixed. Here, at Willow, the service is great, girls are very professional and talented. The location is nice too, you can find some spots to take pics of your new hairdo ;) Will totally come back again! Thanks, Peggi!!!

I have been to Willow four or five times and each time I leave with the feeling that I have been part of a fun creative experience– even when I’m just getting a trim! Every person I’ve met there has taken the time to make sure I am comfortable, relaxed and having fun. Alexis is insanely talented and so much fun to work with! She takes the time to really understand the look you are going for and walks you through the whole process. She is incredibly knowledgeable and talented. My last experience was the best. I slept through my appointment(I know, I know) and Willow called to politely remind me. I apologized thinking I would have to reschedule but they said if I came in within the next 30 minutes Alexis could still help me(even though she had another appointment and I’m sure she was skipping a break for me). And when I got there no one made me feel bad for being late or tried to rush me in the slightest. I think I was offered water or coffee 2 or 3 times and, as always, left feeling like a million bucks. That’s the level of service at Willow Salon and Spa.

I got a partial balayage & haircut last Monday by Sarah and was super pleased! I always keep my hair long and expressed my concern to her about getting it cut short again because every time I chop it off I hate it and don’t know how to style it. …but I wanted to try an asymmetrical bob this time. She took the time to understand exactly what I wanted my hair to look like at the end and also explained AND demonstrated how to style it several different ways. I have never felt this satisfied with a hair cut. I left feeling super excited and confident I could easily style my hair! I also have had my hair balayaged by Dori a few times and she does a really great job as well!

First salon I’ve been to that I’ve been 100% pleased with my hair walking out. Adri was great and listened to my requests and picture I brought was taken into consideration. She didn’t rush me out and explained everything well. I’m impressed and will be back.

This is the deal-I have been to so many different hairdressers. My hair has been every color and I have naturally curly hair. Shelby has the X Factor. She’s gorgeous, talented, a super hard worker, she would do anything to make sure that I was happy, she takes the time to really understand what I want, she’s entertaining and delightful! She’s like part of my family now. I love her!!! Shelby Shelby Shelby!!! And Willow is reasonably priced. The whole staff is super nice! I also like the fact that if I am not happy with my color that they used, I can come in for free to get it redone or touched up. My first experience with Willow Salon & Spa, I was in from out of town last year and I needed my hair done BIGTIME! I had 2.5 inches of roots and my hair was super unhealthy; it looked like a rat’s nest. I couldn’t find an appointment anywhere at the highly reviewed salons nearby in Gig Harbor or Tacoma except for Willow Salon and Spa. Good thing, since I got Shelby! I had low expectations and high hopes. Just keeping it real! Shelby is one of the most talented hairdressers I have ever met. She turned my old reddish brown yuck and made me a blonde with so many beautiful hues of blondes and browns. That was last year. My family goes to her now to shut me up because I wouldn’t stop talking about her mad skills! So now its been a year, I wanted something different. Shelby turned me effortlessly into a super hot red, brunette head with a splash of violet. I trust Shelby and would want no one else. I would take a picture but I don’t have my make up on!

I was able to make a same-day appointment which is nice! I went in for a dramatic change to my long hair. Sarah was very patient in listening to what I wanted, and great at explaining how she’d do it. She checked in with me while cutting it and did it in a way that was slightly less dramatic than going from waist length to shoulder length could have been! I love my new longish bob! Sarah gave great styling and product tips as well! I deduct a star only because I am a bit tall and had to hunch down in my seat while she cut certain parts so that she could see everything since she was kinda short and the chair would only go down so far. This wasn’t anyone’s fault, but it did make my experience less enjoyable as my back started to hurt from the wierd sitting position. Next time I will request a taller stylist to avoid the problem.

I cannot say enough great things about Willow. I usually see Allison for haircuts & colors and she is about as amazing as it gets. I have seen many hair stylists in my day and I can say, Allison is by far the best hair stylist I’ve been to. I’ve seen a few of the other girls at Willow and they are all extremely talented. I have not been disappointed yet. Highly recommend Willow.

I went in to brighten up my dirty blonde hair and left looking exactly the same — minus $ 100+ in my wallet. Initially booked a partial foil, then during the consultation talked into a balayage, because the stylist stated I could get just as blonde but without the hard line of grow out. Maybe I should have stuck with what I scheduled. This stylist has cut my hair a few times before and each time has mentioned in conversation how she doesn’t make much money. Odd thing to casually say to someone you don’t know. Am I supposed to do something about it? Kinda made me feel weird. She finishes my hair by putting a toner/gloss on during the shampoo and I think this is where it went wrong. The toner made my hair look grayish and mousy. I wanted bright and I got boring. I looked at photos of me a few weeks before my appointment vs now — and you can’t really tell anything has changed. The only thing different about me after my Willow Salon appointment is my bank account.

My experience here was great and I was able to walk out with a great haircut. Willow has their own private parking so you don’t need to find a parking space. I walked in and was able to make an appointment same day within the next hour. The clerk was very helpful and gave off a happy vibe that made me feel welcomed here. When I wasn’t sure what cut to get, the hair stylist suggested great styles and were able to help me. My hair stylisyt went great lengths in perfecting the detail. By the way, her name was Alexis. It was a really great experience

Service: fantastic Adorable and slightly edgy feel-great staff who are personable and take their time… and the first time I have ever left a salon and not wanted to throw my hair into a ponytail! Great overall experience!

Just went here for a cut and color. My stylist was Sarah and she was great! LIKES: — Sarah really took the time to listen and figure out exactly the look I was going for. –Their hair gloss was ammonia-free and didn’t have that stinky hair dye smell — I went from having long hair to a long bob — drastic haircut, but it turned out AWESOME — Sarah showed me several different ways to style my hair at the end of my cut — They gave me a FREE Paraffin hand dip –Everyone there was incredibly friendly and polite. GRIPES: –The floor is slippery. I absolutely love this place, and will definitely be back!

Shelby is amazing! I am paranoid about my hair and she really respects my desire to keep it as long as possible. She just styled my hair for my engagement pictures and I got so many compliments! Thank you!

Just got done getting my haircut by Janette(sp?) and am very pleased with the results! I just moved to Tacoma and have been desperate to get a cut to adjust a rough grow-out. We talked for awhile about what I wanted before she started cutting, even consulting with a senior stylist to help figure out how to keep as much length as possible, update the cut, but not just give me the same thing that wasn’t working. She is also in the process of growing her hair out and trying to have fun cuts along the way, so she knew exactly what I’m going through. She was very meticulous cutting the back of my hair and at first I wasn’t sure why. After she dried it, I 100% understood. Holy moly! It’s beautiful! I don’t think I’ve ever loved the back of my hair so much. I didn’t know I could. To quote her, «you’ve got the Pinterest cut.» Totally true. But the best part is she was able to only lightly go in on the side, leaving as much length as she could, but layering it out so it wasn’t just the back that looked good. I’m super pleased and honestly, wasn’t expecting a lot since I got a day-of appt and purposely chose to work with a level 1 stylist because I knew this was a stepping-stone haircut in the long process of growing my hair. But Janette was fabulous-easy to talk to, really considered what she was going to do before cutting, and took her time to make it right. I will return!

I am in LOVE with this place. Seriously. Let me start off by saying I haven’t had my hair cut in over 2 and a half years because I have been horrified of anyone cutting my hair because of a previous bad experience elsewhere. My hair was past my waist and had a lot of split ends. It was basically unmanageable and I was tired of trying to do anything with it. Dorrie took her time to figure out what I wanted and it came out PERFECT. I mean, honestly it was just a good two inches off but she blended it so amazingly and now it looks even longer and not to mention healthier. I am so happy and will definitely be back! Thank you Dorrie!

I got one of the worst haircuts I’ve ever had here about a week ago, but the customer service that followed was stellar. Describing my hair trauma will be therapeutic, but if you just wanna know about the customer service, you can skip to the last paragraph. Willow came highly recommended by a trusted friend with challenging wavy/curly hair. It has always looked great and her cuts have grown out well, and since I was getting desperate to shape a 6-month old grown-out bob, I went for Willow. I am growing out my hair from a short bob. I have been for about a year. I had only trimmed it and was just centimeters away from my past-the-shoulders, layered dream hairstyle when I just couldn’t handle the triangle hair that it had become and scheduled the cut. I showed my stylist 7 photos– all very similar. One was even of me from a time when I had the hairstyle I wanted.(My profile pic here!) «I want to keep it as long as possible everywhere, but add layers. I’m dying to grow it out long.» We discussed my routine. Low-maintenance. No regular products. I want to let it air dry and wave/curl on its own. We talked about where layers should begin since I had none. Jaw-length for the shortest in front. She noted that my hair was really thick. True. She said she could thin out some bulk with layering and thinning shears. Never had that done before. Sounds great. It’s really hot out. Do it. Pause: what I DON’T want is one of those haircuts that’s way shorter in the front than the back. I show her my pictures again. Everything seems clear. She was so so nice as she started cutting. We had good conversation. She has great hair herself– that was one of the things my friend said–«Everyone there is really stylish but not a weirdo. You trust them because their own hair looks really good.» This was true. She trimmed up my baseline. Perfect length. I barely lost anything, but it was all even. Things were going well. Then instead of sectioning off the rest of my hair and starting layers, she started grabbing chunks in the back and opened her scissors and ran them from about two inches away from my scalp to about the middle of the length of the shaft. I should have stopped her then, as this is one of the things I realize I’m most unhappy about. Imagine holding up a comb and cutting about two thirds of the teeth off half way. Now imagine those teeth are the hair on my head. I have a really large, limp, flat-ish frizzy section on the back of my head. My ponytail is about the width of my pinky now, when before it was about three fingers around. If I run my fingers through the back of my hair, I can actually feel all my thick hair at my scalp, but then there are these long mousy chunks sticking out helter skelter, and it is not pleasant. She dried and flat-ironed my hair to continue the cut. Once it was dry and I shook it around a little I realized how thin it was and I mentioned that it was surprisingly short in some places. She assured me that it would stay long and the layers would help bring out body.(I realized once I got home that she never showed me any angles of my hair. I only saw it for the front at the salon.) She let everything down on the sides and said she’d cut my front layers next. Jaw line, right? In seconds, what would be my bangs and my crown was trimmed to cheek-bone height and quickly thinned with shears. It comes about half way down my ears. It’s almost a bowl cut. There’s a definite line all the way around my head, but it’s as if the bowl was off center, so one side is about an inch and a half shorter. It’s like planetary orbit or a tipsy Florence Henderson. STOP. This is not what I was going for. Much too short. And uneven. Please don’t match the longer side to the shorter side because it’s already too short. We discussed what she was doing– all very kindly. She was so apologetic. I asked if there was anything she hadn’t been clear on or anything I could have explained better. She said no, and again that she was sorry. We finished up, I paid, I walked out to my car and sat in it, weeping. I lost about six inches off the front. I actually found a tiny strip of hairs that she’d missed and compared them. I ended up with just what I’d said I didn’t want. It’s really short in front, and longer in the back. I feel like there’s a sad little hair octopus sitting on my scalp, leaning to the right. I went home. My husband was shocked. I cried more. Lots of ugly, scraggly crying happened and then I called Willow. I have never called a salon after a bad hair cut. I’ve just not returned or been too shy or embarrassed to talk to anyone. The owner, Jolene, answered. She had actually been there while I had and had observed what was going on. She was tremendously kind. She listened to my woes, immediately offered a full refund and a cut with a more senior stylist, and was very apologetic and understanding. I happily accepted the refund. I don’t want to cut any more off. It’ll grow back eventually.

I love the atmosphere of Willow. It’s so cute and relaxing. They start your services with a scalp massage. I’ve never been to a salon that offered that to all their clients! It was a wonderful treat. Shelby is so nice and sweet! She did an awesome job styling my hair! LOVE it! I would definitely recommend her. She has a super easy going personality!
