I live super close to Trappers, so they’re kind of my go-to sushi place. They have some pretty good rolls, but there’s so many to chose from that I always forget which ones I liked. It can be pretty loud and crowded sometimes, so often I call in and take them to go. If you’re ready for All You Can Eat, this is the place to go for sure [but try to make it for lunch, it’s a better deal than dinner]. When we eat in we usually sit at the bar, and the chefs are very attentive. Plus, it’s fun to watch them work.

I’ve been coming here with my boyfriend a few times a year for the last nearly two years, and I’ve been meaning to write a review and just haven’t gotten the chance. The first time I ate here, I just let my boyfriend make all my selections for me, because I had no idea where to start. Since then, however, I’ve chosen a few of their rolls and other menu selections as my favorites. My very favorite roll is the Thunderbird, which comes with avocado and lemon slices on the top, followed closely by the Trump(which my boyfriend and I usually start with). The Trump comes with this fabulous torched garlic sauce that is as delicious to eat as it is entertaining to watch the process of making, because when I say it’s torched, I mean they literally torch it. I’ve teased a couple of the chefs that I don’t understand how they can torch the sushi and not laugh maniacally the whole time. Other excellent rolls include the Dragon, the new Vader, the Mountain, and the Covington. I also really love the baby octopus, the eel nigiri, and their plum wine. We actually went there this past Monday and the place was packed, other than a few seats at the bar. The servers were having a little trouble keeping up, but nothing major. Service was pretty fast, and we didn’t have empty drinks for too long before a smiling server came to ask us if we wanted more. I also love walking in and immediately feeling welcome. We’ve been in there enough times that most of the employees recognize us, and always take good care of us. The only real drawback here is that parking is at a premium. It’s a small parking lot and when things get busy like they were Monday night, it is hard to find a spot. Still, this is and has been one of our favorite places to go for some pretty good sushi. We can debate until we’re blue in the face about whether or not it’s authentic, but does it matter? Good food is good food, and Trapper’s has got some pretty amazing food!

Went after work on a Friday night. It was great! We ate at the bar and had all you can eat. Our favorite roll was the Puyallup roll. We also had the combination tempura and the sauce was good. The service was good and everyone was very attentive to our needs. You are only able to eat the all you can eat at the bar. It was $ 26.95 for dinner. We will be definitely returning to try their sake cocktails next time.

I tried to visit a new sushi restaurant while conducting other business in Tacoma. I found this place which is in a very odd location and small parking lot. I think the building was an old auto shop judging by the construction and the building adjacent to it. We found a table right away. This place is quite small, looks like a sports bar. Tables are very close together, and it feels like a cafeteria. The menu looks OK and the portions are fine, however the sushi is not that great. Great decoration but the taste is monotonous, lots of sauces and spices. The quality of the rice is fair, it does not hold together.

We came here because our favorite sushi joint is all the way in Puyallup but figured we stay local to be honest the all you can eat lunch on weds all day for 17.00 is a great value but the costumer service along with the quality not so great. I came in and had waited to be seated as I was waiting the waitress was cleaning our spot and never said anything and went on helping like 5 other people 2 were pick up orders and 3 were seated costumers which had came In way after us it just would have been nice for her to let us know that she didn’t forget about us. The menu is quite repetitive with the ingredients and almost everything has spicy sauce in it and tampera wrapped in the center out of maybe all the rolls the only one really worth it was the mountain roll. Overall not a great but not terrible spot.

Well, definitely good for the all you can eat lunch for sushi. Good deal for sure. About 15 – 20 rolls you can choose from. Down side is they double up on the rice to roll me up to try and fill you up faster. Still didn’t stop me from eating 5 rolls. Gotta get the Timmy, and Puyallup. 5 minute wait time. Like the service also. Good for groups.

Great rolls and nigiri at an affordable price. If you can avoid a weekend rush, this is a fantastic weekday destination. The sushi is as good as the service. At the bar, we were greeted as if one of the owners. Simon, sushi extraordinaire, offers an attention to detail and an opportunity for small talk rarely seen between customer and chef.

Ok so lets get down to business. Initial thoughts, nice place, clean and courteous Disappointments: semi family friendly The AYCE is only available if you are seated at the bar. Being from California, and favoriting quite a few AYCE sushi joints, we were surprised that it was only offered when seated at the bar. This was obviously issue for us, where would our 8month old sit? The waitress, offered to pull up a chair for us to put my daughter car seat, but with limited space at the bar it just didn’t work. Food was great– no issues there, well except for one of our appetizers arriving after we finished all our rolls and were ordering dessert Ordered tempura ice cream, its was ok. Definitely not fresh. We just ate around the batter. Over all our experience was ok. I really think this place would really benefit from not limiting the AYCE to bar seating for those of use who have little ones. Or at least make an exception and offer the deal at table seating. Seriously, what if a handicap patron cant sit on a bar stool? The food was great, would i return? Ummm probably not, which makes me sad because i really enjoyed their selection. Family friendly establishment is important to me. With all that said, based on the food i would recommend it.

I have to say it has been a very pleasant experience at Trappers. From my beginning experience of poor service, I have definitely noticed a change. Waittresses have become more talkative as well as more aware of their customers. Even when it is their busiest hours, the level of attention and calm has been a pleasant thing to witness and experience. So much so, my friends and I have returned at least 2 – 3 times monthly!!! We may be a little addicted but trust me when I say it is not just to their well crafted sushi. Truly a community establishment.

They have a great selection of foods here. The wife loves it and therefore gets an automatic 5 stars by default. They could be serving salmonella with a side of e. Coli and I’d love it because the misses loves it. Gentlemen, «a happy wife is a happy life.» In all honesty… this place is truly great. The staff has always been friendly and the establishments at any locations have been really clean. There isn’t anything here that ever has been in question. The prices are generous and everything about this place is 5 stars. One complaint, the Tacoma location is a little smaller than I’d like, so there is limited parking outside.

Yeah, it may not be the finest or highest dining for sushi in Tacoma or the surrounding metro area but the sushi is affordable, fresh, palatable and tasty. It is also very convenient to for me to get to since it is right next to my home! The place is always packed and there is often a wait unless you go in early enough. The service has always been good and the wait staff are always friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is very casual so if you are going for ambiance and atmosphere you won’t find it unless you enjoy sports(which is on the tv). Again the food is not necessarily the most authentic but it is good and solid and won’t make you need to declare bankruptcy by ordering five or six rolls. They have different specials every night. I recommend the all you can eat sushi bar nights!

I’ve been here twice now. I think my first time here was much better. I don’t remember what I got but I remember thinking it wasn’t too bad. The last time I went I got a Baja roll and a spicy tuna roll. I usually like spicy but I don’t like it when its over powering and I can’t taste anything else. I might come back again to try some of there less spicy rolls, but there’s other place I like getting sushi from more. I live really close to this one so I’ll eventually be back. I got my sushi to go so I couldn’t say much about the service, they seemed friendly. One thing I did like a lot was there to go package. It was a little different then most places. I walked home and it held together pretty well.

Hmmm… well my friend kept going on and on about this place so we drove up after work to check it out. The parking lot is small and the actual restaurant is even smaller. It appears that most people come for the all you can eat at the bar as several people were waiting on the benches inside the doors. The general layout of the restaurant is very simple and the fixtures and furniture are also just as simple. Not that sushi restaurants should give off the feel of the area in which the cuisine is from, but this place has more of a sports bar type feel in my opinion. That’s only because of the big screen TV. The menu is simple and easy to read and as a vegetarian usually I have to scan the whole menu to find something I can eat. I know I know… why go to a sushi restaurant if you’re a vegetarian? Well there are several places that have very nice sushi sans the meat. This is one of them. They have the menu sectioned so that you can find the vegetarian and gluten free items easily. I got the«Asparagus» and the«Veggie». We also go the tempura vegetables for an appetizer. The batter on the vegetables was very good. Golden brown with the perfect crunch. The vegetables also tasted fresh. Nothing was soggy, which sometimes happens to fried food if it sits for too long. The Asparagus and Veggie rolls were very nice. The rice wasn’t overly sticky and almost a bit drier than normal but I actually like it that way. Again, the vegetables were perfectly cooked as well as paired within the rolls. Very nicely rolled sushi rolls. I liked that they have outside seating as well just in case it gets too crowded inside. The pricing wasn’t too bad either and kind of in line with what one would expect from a sushi restaurant. One thing I didn’t like was that I ordered the green tea and it was terrible. The smell was off-putting and kind of smelled fishy. It actually tasted like barley water as opposed to green tea. Also, the rolls come with a small portion of ginger and wasabi. I like when the ginger/wasabi bowls are readily accessible so that you can get more ginger quickly if you want it as opposed to waiting for someone from the wait staff to bring more.

Trapper’s is not the best sushi around but it will get your sushi craving satisfied. This experience was better than the last. I had the monster roll the Seahawk roll and another I cannot recall and the order of wontons. Everything was nice and fresh.

Best all you can eat prices around. Consistent sushi, but it’s consistently more rice than sushi. Enjoy this place and it’s worth a try. Be prepared to get full with these huge rolls. Sensi Parvis
