Pricey but you do get what you pay for. Simple items like side dishes are still expensive. Sometimes makes you have to pick and choose between certain side dishes offered with their bigger meals. Don’t come here if you want something small. Their pancakes and waffles are good in their own way. The wait staff are younger but super respective and work as fast as the food cooks(sometimes it takes a while for certain things to cook but they are always apologetic despite the disclaimer on their menu). If you’re in the neighborhood, they sell TOPH mugs for coffee refills. Their parking lot is smaller so if you’re coming on a busy day you’re better off parking down the road.

While I was in WA. I ate at this restaurant a few weeks ago with a friend. I was very impressed with the freshness of the veggies that were cooked in my omelette. The bacon was smoked, savory and delicious. I recommend everyone try this place. I was very please with the portions and with the service as well.

I’ve had two bad experiences with one of the blonde waitresses here. She served us slowly, acted like she really wanted to be somewhere else, and whispered around when she thought we weren’t looking. Otherwise, the food was great and despite the service from her we continue to eat here because it’s convenient and the food is phenomenal. I reccomend the Pumpkin Pancakes. If you go on the weekend make sure to call for a reservation because it’s usually packed.

I am THE biggest fan of the Original Pancake House. I visited them hundreds of times and enjoyed almost everything they make. This was my first trip to the Tacoma garage house. First concern, I sat there for 10 minutes with no coffee after having ordered. Second concern, They were out of Swedish pancakes better they were out of German pancake batter they were out of 49er flapjack better. «Would you like to see the menu again?» Pancake places don’t run out of batter at 7AM. 5 people in restaurant. That is sheer laziness. «will not make the batter.» Okay– cherry linage pancakes. do you want cherry syrup on the pancakes? Yes that’s what cherry kijafa pancakes come with. I know this is a first world problem, and I will somehow muddle through, but be warned. Yesterday I had the best pancake ever at Marcias on So. TAcoma Way in Tacoma.

The waitress said OPH has been in this location for about 2 years– I had no idea Primo Grill closed, that’s how observant I am. Lots of good options on the menu. I couldn’t decide between coconut or pineapple pancakes, so I ordered the special crab Benedict instead. It was very good and the service was excellent. I don’t know why people are complaining about food portions, because they seemed pretty huge to me. Food seemed fresh and made to order, unlike Denny’s or Shari’s. Husband had regular Eggs Benedict, I had the crab. I asked the poached eggs to be cooked a little longer than normal, the waitress said no problem, and the eggs came out just right. The hollandaise was buttery and salty and delicious. Good spot. Next time I’ll try the coconut pancakes.

This place was pretty good. I got an omelet with bacon in it they were not stingy about the bacon at all and the pancakes were good to!

Not very impressed with this place. It was our first time here, and my husband and 2 children were starving. For my sons kids meal I ordered him a $ 5 plate that had pancakes and bacon. I misread the menu and thought it said pancakes, bacon, and eggs, but you have to pick between eggs or bacon. So for $ 5 we got 2 pancakes which I’m sure costs them less then 25 cents to make and 2 slices of bacon. My 4 year old ate it all and was still hungry. The portions here are way too small. I wasn’t looking for a massive portion of food, but $ 13.50 for 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties and some pancakes. Seems a little over priced to me. My husband also made the same comments I did about the portion sizes and the prices. And like I said, we weren’t expecting some massive meal like Denny’s or ihop. But we were all still hungry when we left and paid $ 40 for 4 of us and all we had was water to drink and our entrees. My youngest actually only got the kids pancakes which were $ 3, so really $ 37 for 3 people for breakfast food, not to Mention pancakes which are so inexpensive to make, is a little insane. At the end I had asked about military discount and the waitress told me, well we give free coffee to military. Well now that I’m all done I don’t even want coffee, would have been nice to know this prior or have it advertised some where or maybe just give an actual military discount. I think we will just be making breakfast at home from now on. At least we will have enough food to feel satisfied and my kids won’t be hungry afterwards.

This place is great just make sure you have plenty of time to spare is on the weekends there is a long line to get in. You may want to have a snack before you go there because it sucks standing there for an hour watching other people eat delicious food. I have the eggs and the pancakes with some fresh orange juice. The bacon was really good too. I highly recommend this place.

Awesome French toast! We also tried the Dutch baby. It was great! Great portion sizes. The bacon was thick and cooked good but a bit salty. Worth stopping in! It was busy at 10:30 on a Saturday but waiting time went fast and worth it!

Pancakes were perfect. Bacon was on the salty side but delicious. Hash was good but would have liked big chunks of potatoes instead of the minced. Chicken Fried Steak was just okay. Service was top notch.

I was here on a Saturday night and they were surprisingly not busy. As other reviews have pointed out, the full meal options are a little spendy for chain diner breakfast food($ 13 for an omelette with one side?) but you do get a large soufflé — style omelette with a side of 3 pancakes, which is a lot of food. The omelette was interesting, more like a baked egg soufflé than a usual omelette and it tasted good. The side of potatoes was also nice and crispy, a worthwhile alternative if you aren’t into pancakes. For myself, my half order of blueberry pancakes(3 instead of the full 6) was enough for me to feel satisfied and it was about $ 7 for them. They came with blueberries in the batter along with blueberries mixed in the special blueberry syrup. Even with the powdered sugar left off they were very sugary. Good texture and flavor though. Service was very good, our waitress came over to ask how things were, got us extra hotsauce, and refilled drinks without us asking. As chain breakfast places go I’d put OPH as a step up from Dennys and IHOP but not quite as good as Shari’s.

This was not my original destination. My first choice was Old Milwaulkee, but they were closed and out for vacation. My second choice was Shakrabah but they were not open yet. So here I am. Just glad I get some one on one time with my friend. I arrived and my friend was already seated. The place was clean, and quiet, at 7 am. I ordered granola with fruit. My friend ordered oatmeal. I asked for a dairy free option for the milk. Unfortunately they don’t have any. The oatmeal came with milk, raisins and brown sugar. The granola had yogurt, granola, and fresh strawberries, supposed to have bananas as well but they were out. We also split a side of pancakes. The food was good, and service was meh. It would be nice if they had a dairy free option to milk.

Ooo man. My fiancé and I stopped here for breakfast before heading to a friends house for the super bowl. We ordered the pigs in a blanket and the pumpkin pancakes. They both were DELICIOUS but I just wish we ordered one or the other. The portions for one person are too big. 6 pumpkin pancakes is just too much. Lol but the quality is awesome and the prices are good! Would definitely go back!

Our waitress was polite and helpful. To my husband. She wouldn’t make eye contact with me after I told her I didn’t want anything to eat. The truth was I did want to eat. I was really hungry, and I wanted a strawberry waffle. On the menu under the fresh strawberry waffle it says that you can substitute seasonal fruit for an additional charge. I asked the waitress for the strawberry waffle(it says fresh strawberry on the menu, which I am sorry that they chose to write that because I personally don’t care in January in the PNW if my strawberries are fresh or frozen I am happy to have ANY strawberries at all). The waitress informs me they don’t have strawberries. So I ask after the seasonal fruit options(which again, nobody told them to write that on there, that was their choice) and she said just the other options that are listed with the other pancake or waffles. So, that means that not only do they not have the menu item, they also don’t have the additional options. Which makes no sense, since they write the menus for their restaurant. This was super confusing to me. However, more confusing still was the fact that on three large LED screens every third slide was advertising the effing«fresh strawberries». So, they know they don’t have them but parade them in front of your face in the cruelest form of trickery I can imagine. At this point I felt as if they were trying trick me again when she asked if there was something else I would like. What next? No pancakes at the pancake house? So I declined to order. She was very prompt and courteous with my husband for the rest of visit. She ignored me. Which was fine, I merely counted the bites my husband took until we could be free and I could have lunch. I went home and made my own waffle. From scratch. With frozen strawberries and it was delicious. No need for me to return here. Ever.

Certainly different from the OPH back home in AL. I had the pecan pancakes, they were amazing.. The tropical syrup reminds me of a liquid orange marmalade.. it’s zesty, sweet, and bright. It balanced out the pancakes with fresh roasted pecans. The bacon was thick and crispy, and the flavor was great. Eggs were well scrambled, not too done which is usually a problem

If you are ever in need of questioning where your life went wrong, get the Corn Beef Hash and Eggs. You will then truly know that ordering this dish is exactly where everything fell apart and that you’ve hit rock bottom. Once on the table, this sad excuse of corn beef hash looked less appetizing than what you’d find in a baby diaper after said baby had been fed Indian food for a week. Imagine a can of Fancy Feast cat food being place in front of you with eggs on top… that’s pretty much what I was served. If the company that made Instaent mashed potatoes also made an «instant corn beef hash» where you just add water to mystery meat flakes, this would be it. Instant meat mush and eggs. The only reason I’m giving it a high rating of one star is because I accidentally hit one star and can’t remove it.

Avoid this place. They have picnic table plaid everywhere. There are set designs built into the walls. Would you like to be a coal miner this morning and eat breakfast under a fake tin roof? Hideous Their food is disgusting. On the bright side, If you are young or naïve this might be an interesting place to drink a lot of coffee and impress your friend with some pancakes. Otherwise this place is gross. I got sick after eating here, and so did my girlfriend when she ate the leftovers. Original Pukeface House

I will give it two and a half stars but it might fluctuate to three stars. I got the Green Chile Omelet. I know full well that here in the Pacific Northwest that in all likelihood the Green Chile I always seem to lust for is just simply not present or is very, very rare here. For what it was it was ok I suppose. The food was fresh but the Green Chile tasted more like a beef gravy than Green Chile. There was no spicy heat to it whatsoever. I had hashbrowns(which weren’t too bad) as well but otherwise I wasn’t too overly impressed with the food. The service was speedy and friendly so I have no complaints there at all.

If I could have given this no stars I probably would have. There was a huge line when we got there so we were sure that we’d been missing something by not coming sooner, not so. Wait wasn’t bad considering it was a Saturday rainy morning and folks had nothing better to do. Alas, when the folks remodeled this restaurant they didn’t account for crowds so not much room when it gets busy and the door outside is right where everyone stands so constantly had a cold draft blowing on all of us. The menu looks great, lots of choices in all breakfast areas. I decided on sourdough pancakes. They come dusted with sugar so I asked specifically if they could leave the sugar off since I’m not big on extra sweet. My hubby ordered blueberry pancakes. Food came right out, a plus considering how busy they were but the pluses pretty much stop there. My pancakes were not cooked completely and doughy inside as well as covered with powdered sugar. Took two bites and set the plate aside. The server finally came over and asked if there was a problem and I said I had asked for no sugar and that the pancakes were not cooked properly. He said oh, I thought you said you wanted sugar. Sigh. While he offered a replacement I said no and that I’d help my husband eat his since they were enough for two people. Didn’t eat much of his either. While the pancakes were cooked properly, lots of blueberries inside, his came with a blueberry compote instead of syrup which would have been ok except that the compote was thin like water and way too sweet. One other aside, don’t order the hot chocolate. When I ordered I guess I had visions of Starbucks wonderful hot chocolate, not so. This was icky sweet and tasted like Swiss Miss right out of a package. Had a small dollop of whipped cream on top but the hot chocolate tasted awful and was pretty expensive. While they did take off the charge for my breakfast, it’s not worth going back to try again. Very much too bad since there are not a lot of decent breakfast places in Tacoma and I so wanted this to be good.
