Fantastic cycling and TRX studio in Tacoma. The classes are difficult but accessible, the studio is in a great old building downtown. High calorie burn and cool setting.

What an awesome resource! This is the answer to keeping your fitness up through the cold wet winter months and really year-round if you are a cyclist or otherwise. I visited for a morning session this weekend and had a great time, Becky ran a focused workout that allowed all participants to push themselves to their individual limits. Much recommended to anyone interested in cycling and/or fitness in the Tacoma area.

I personally cannot say enough good things about the owner, Becky & her team. Very welcoming & willing to accommodate. I know this place will be rockin for a long time and will only continue to grow with success!

This place is awesome. The space is cool and the bikes are comfortable and easy to adjust– definitely way better than any bike I’ve ever ridden at a gym. In the past I’ve experienced some post-ride soreness in my ladybits, but there’s none of that here. The staff are also friendly and helpful– especially Becky, who’s also the owner. There are changing rooms and one shower available, which I don’t use because I live close enough that it’s unnecessary, but I can see it being a big plus for someone who wants to get a ride and then head to work. I’m docking one star for price because it is a little on the steep side. Even with my military discount(which is nice of them to offer, so thanks!!), classes are $ 12 a pop(normally $ 16), although I can get a 10-class pass for $ 100. That’s not ridiculous, but it’s enough that I can’t come more than once a week, generally speaking, and ideally I’d like to come a couple of times a week. That said– I am paying for classes here despite also belonging to a big-box gym that offers cycling classes, so that should tell you something!

I absolutely love the Handlebar. It is such a positive experience from the moment you are greeted until you walk out of the building. All the instructors are equally challenging and really motivating. You can definitely tell they want you to get the best out of your ride and will do what they need to to make that happen. I come all the way from Kent to take classes. Check it out, you won’t regret it and your butt and legs will thank you!

Quite simply — I am addicted to cycling at Handlebar and I go every chance I get. I’m new to cycling and felt nervous and unsure coming to my first class, but Becky makes you feel right at home, helping with bike adjustments and providing plenty of cues and tips on your riding form. I’ve cycled with most of the instructors and they are all top notch. It’s exciting to see my mile time decrease, my cardio endurance improve, and my legs get stronger every time I go. It’s always good. With it’s top of the line bikes, lighting, and music, this studio provides an awesome atmosphere that gives the best low-impact exercise on the market, in my opinion. With your first ride free, what do you have to lose? Just 600−1000+ calories while having a blast doing it!

The idea of riding a bicycle in place with bunch of other sweaty people had never appealed to me as my choice of exercise. Shannon(one of the spin instructors) is energetic, fun and a great motivator. Handlebar Cycling Studio is the REALDEAL. Music, lighting, and great equipment. I highly recommend it because I know I’m going back.

I have been going here for over a month now on a semi regular basis. I am loving it! The owner Becky, who does a majority of the classes I’ve been to, is great! The staff are motivational and challenging. The space is great with the outdoor picture murals, dim lighting, water station, cubbies for your stuff, complimentary towel service and bathrooms with showers if needed. They had a recent groupon that was a great deal. The prices are on par with other studios for Barre or Yoga ranging from $ 16-$ 12 a ride depending on package pricing. This range is too high for me to come 5 days a week like I’d like to but is a good supplement to LA Fitness membership. I like the process of reserving a bike as it keeps me accountable. Try it out, first ride is free! You’ll feel great and be hooked.

Finally!!! A spin studio that dims the lights. The equipment is nice, newer and clean, the instructors are friendly although I have yet to see any of them correcting improper form on the riders which can cause injury. In the classes I’ve been to the instructors are not there early enough to really go over anything with you and if they do the class will start late, so I don’t feel comfortable having to ask them to come over and teach me how to use the computer on the bike or hook up my heart rate monitor. That said the classes are intense and this is by far the best spin experience I’ve had since I’ve moved to this area. this is a studio definitely worth checking out. I do wish they would offer larger packages and at a more discounted rate, by larger I mean unlimited and by more discounted I mean I hope they drop the rates a little bit. I would love to do spin 5 days a week but I can’t see myself spending at minimum 2400(if you are military or senior) up to 2880 a year on it when I can go to LA Fitness 5 days a week for less than 400 a year. granted it won’t be the same experience but when you’re on a budget sometimes you have to work with what you got and make the most of your workouts where you can get them. I also wish they would offer more class times. I don’t know how many other people out there feel the same as me but just in case one of the owners is reading this I would love to see a 4 a.m. and a 4:30 p.m. Class added to the list :-) overall, yes I think you should try it, you’ll have a great time.

So glad that Tacoma finally has a studio devoted just to cycling! The space is modern, clean, and very well-designed. Classes are very challenging and the tech-saavy bikes let you track your progress during and after the workout. Highly recommend Saturday’s enduro ride(90 minute class) for an awesome challenge. Sidenote: Handlebar is steps off of the Light rail’s Theater District stop.
