This park is in dire need of attention. It is evident that is has been neglected or overlooked for some time. The lawn is overgrown, the landscaping is poor and overall lacks appeal, thus repelling any visit for the local dog owners of its own community. Please help this park!

This is a great neighborhood dog park. True, it’s nothing fancy and it’s on the small side, but there’s definitely enough room to run, chase a ball, and sniff EVERYTHING. It’s gets the job done when driving to Wapato or Point Defiance isn’t in the cards. It seems that some of the neighborhood kids have been playing on the hillside within the park and will leave both gates open, but if you are coming in, you obviously close them behind you.

Creepy place. Didn’t feel comfortable there at all. Only stayed long enough to let my dog shit, then left in a hurry. First time/last time there.

It just gave me the heebie jeebies. It is a rectangular, fenced in, pretty much just dirt lot. Not a lot going on. It is much closer than some of the other parks but its in a weird location and has no charm. When I went, there was one woman walking laps around the perimeter with a stuck on smile, and a guy sitting on one of the tables with his dog. It does get the job done, but there are other options that I would try first.

My first reaction was, «This is a dog park, you gotta be kidding it is so small». However if you are on a road trip with kids or a family pet, take them here it is a quick little stop over from the freeway. No restrooms here though there is a Shell gas station off of Portland Ave. open to public restrooms.

My Opinion: The park is in a funky location. My boyfriend and I got lost twice as he refused to listen to the navigation and find his own way. The park is a good size for fetching and the dog bags were fully stocked. The benches were dirty and the landscaping left tremendous room for improvement(rocks, boulders, bark/mulch, short grass, tall grass and mud.) The fellow dog owners were friendly and kept pretty good control of their dogs. Bruiser’s(my dog) Opinion: 100’s of pee spots, tons of friends(some a little mean), too much mud(he hates getting wet or dirty), refreshing water bowls, and was over the park in about 20 minutes. BTW: the park looks nothing like the photo. I will post an updated photo next time I am in the area.

Nice Park… Provisions: water fountain, pooper bags, covered kiosk bulletin board, benches and picnic tables around perimeter, no holes in the fence and sloped on one side to take advantage of agility training. Also, Handicapped parking space on one side… Mostly nice pets/owners. Sometimes there seems to be a grouping of tough guys that get a little too«pack mentality» for my liking, but Im a small dog owner so we just go elsewhere or walk around the neighborhood, which is really very scenic. Only gripe — Not enough scooping going on, people! You know the drill!

My pup and I went to Rogers Off-Leash park today(a Monday afternoon) and had a lot of fun! The dog park is a bit small compared to a few other«dog parks», but served its purpose of giving my dog a place to run run run and chase a ball. It is in a residential area, so space is limited and the fact that this exists there is appreciated! Other dogs(and owners!) played nice. After meeting some other pups we were able to get a corner to ourselves. A bonus is that there is a view of Mount Rainier! Park on East L St.; there is one easily accessible parking spot in the alley on the side of the park. The water was still off for the winter, luckily I had some in the car. Hopefully the water will be on soon.

I found this on a website that lists dog parks in the state of Washington, and it attracted me because it was near I-5. I thought it would be a good place to stretch my legs and let my dog get some exercise since we were on the road. The park is a small fenced park but open with grass, rocks, dirt, and wood chips. I would say its roughly the size of a half football field– don’t quote me on that! There is a small children park right next to the dog park. There isn’t a parking lot so be prepared to park on the streets. Overall– I was disappointed because the park was small. I checked the website when I got home to learn more about the park. I was ready to give it a one but I had to change it to a 2 since its the first(and only dog park) in Tacoma so far. I hope that the city of Tacoma will continue to develop dog parks and learn from other dog parks like French Lake Park or Magnuson Park. I also hope that people that use Rogers Park will Unilocal this park and defend it. I also hope that they will also help Tacoma develop more off leash parks. Well– if you are on the road with your dog, and you both need a place to stretch your legs– stop by the park. It’s also easy to get back on I-5.
