Meh. Had to send the potstickers back as they were still frozen in the middle and while the Happy Family had good portion size & came out sizzling — zero flavor and undercooked squid(what’s the deal with not cooking anything all the way through??) so I guess if you MUST have Chinese food, and it MUST be here, maybe specify«well-done» on your orders.

Took an hour and 15 min for food to be delivered last night, and we live only 4 min away from the restaurant. Food was good, but not hot. Probably won’t order again from here.

food came out super fast. although, it wAS AWFUL. I ordered the birds nest seafood platter or whatever and the scallops were undercooked, the shrimp chewy, and the«squid» didn’t even look like squid. the veggies were clearly frozen and thawed out in a microwave. I can put away food like a champ, but I couldn’t eat the second half of my plate because the food was so blubbery. never eating here again. update: decided to give them a second chance and it wasn’t bad. the boxes were smashed upon delivery and got sauce all over my kitchen while carrying bag to the counter

They say 45 – 60 minutes for delivery. I waited closer to an hour and 45 minutes. My food was cold. The almond chicken was tough and rubbery. The chow mein was 90% cold noodles. The egg rolls were the only good thing. I think the pot stickers would have been nice but they arrived cold. I’ll give one star for the egg rolls and I would give half a star for the pot stickers if I could. As it is I don’t think I’ll be going back.

They have clearly changed up procedures in the kitchen. The menu is the same but there is a difference in the quality, taste and preparation, all for the good. I can’t speak to the brick and mortar but the delivery is prompt, accurate and arrives piping hot. This is a nice resturant to put in the rotation for those rainy nights.

I am truly not a fan of this cook. We ordered 6 dishes. Every item was below mediocre. The friend rice was dry and tasteless. Soy sauce could not save it. The egg foo young, was the worst ive eaten. I have eaten in Canada and San franciso. And other cities around country. Nothing was good, nothing was worth leftovers. I tossed it the next day because the kids and wife hated it. I am in agreement with them. I gave it 2 stars because there is a possibility the cook had a off day, or he was a replacement cook. At least i hope that was the case.

Horrible place! Food is overpriced and greasy, and delivery takes an hour and a half. Customer service does not exist.

North China Garden is my favorite spot for Chinese in Tacoma. The only reason they don’t get 5 stars from me is that they used to deliver to my home, but apparently don’t any longer. The food it’s still worth the trip, though! I ordered online via Eat24(for pickup), paid in advance, and picked up my food fresh and ready right on time. My favorite dishes are the excellent almond chicken, the spicy and savory Mongolian beef, the sweet and sour chicken, and the chicken chow mein. The pot stickers are more than generously filled with seasoned meat(and cooked perfectly), and the BBQ beef with hot mustard is delicious. I highly recommend this great restaurant for delicious food and super fast, friendly service! I’m just bummed they no longer deliver to me!

We pass by North China Garden all of the time and never give any thought to trying it. We decided on Saturday that we wanted Chinese food and rather than pass by we decided to give it a try. I checked the reviews, they were a bit mixed, but we wanted to find out for ourselves. Glad that we did! We had a very good meal with plenty to take home for the next day. We tried the pork egg foo young, almond chicken and triple fragrance. Both the egg foo young and almond chicken were dishes reminiscent of Chinese food of our childhoods and that’s exactly what we were looking for. The triple fragrance was filled with vegys and great flavors. We will make this our go to Chinese place and even better that they deliver. Only thing that I would ask them would be to check the freshness of the fortune cookies.

This better be the best damn freshest Chinese food I’ve ever had. I ordered my food for delivery. After waiting an hour(I only live 8 blocks away) I called to check the status. Was told another 30 minutes. I came to pick it up. Still not ready. Place is empty. This should tell you all you need to know. The hot and sour soup was not good. The tofu in it was gray. Not a fresh cream color. The lemon chicken was decent. The Mongolian beef was delicious, too bad it was cold and the sizzling rice was stale. Not crispy at all.

This place is a joke. Don’t waste your money. Overpriced and not worth it. They send you home with only«8 oz» of rice for a $ 12 entrée and the size of the container is laughable. We measured it out and it was actually only 6 ounces. That isn’t even enough for a ¼ of the entrée. When confronted they were rude and argumentative. Also, I’ve never been to a Chinese restaurant in my life that doesn’t have fried wonton strips to go with your soup… If I would have known this I wouldn’t have even ordered it. Overall we were incredibly disappointed with their food, portions and the prices were unreasonable. Never going back and I do not recommend anyone else wasting their money on overpriced subpar food.

The food is great and at the end of the day that’s what matters. The ambiance could use some updating, but I rarely eat in. Eat here you will love the food.

(NOTE: would have earned 5th star if I didn’t have two minor issues, but I hope I can bump those stars UP on my next visit.) Anyway, I just found my NEWESTFAVORITE Asian food place!!! Stumbled across this place when using my coolest new smart phone App, EAT24(a Unilocal company) while looking for a place to eat that takes PayPal. North China Garden was on their App! I browsed their menu and it seemed huge! Sure, I would prefer Teriyaki over Szechwan, but I still found several items I love, such as Shrimp Fried Rice, Orange Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken, and more. I decided to place a order for pickup, since I was only about 7 minutes away according to my GPS. I chose their Beef Chow Mien, an awesome deal at only $ 6.95 I felt. To my surprise, on a busy Saturday night, the night after Christmas, my order was ready when I got there! Even though the place was packed! WOW! I then drove to a nice quiet place with a view to enjoy my to-go meal in my car while I jammed to some music. First thing I noticed when I opened the bag: NONAPKINS! Greasy, slimy chow mien noodles and NONAPKINS? You gotta be kidding! Oh well, I had some in my glove box. Jus’ sayin! Anyway, even though it took me probably 10 minutes to open the box, it was STILLSMOLDERINGHOT! YAY! And I really like the to-go box they use here! Not that typical styrofoam, but some newer, more sealed kind. I was VERY happy my food was still so hot! Then, when I started eating it, within the first bite or two I KNEW I had just found a NEWFAVORITEPLACETOEAT! The noodles were cooked to absolute perfection! Nice and moist, not dry, and cooked to the perfect consistency. The vegies(too numerous to figure out just how many different ones they put in it) were cooked nice and hot, yet were crisp and crunchy, even in the cooking oil. Excellent! The beef was hot and delicious too, but(my biggest complaint, or more like a suggestion) the beef could have been cut/chopped into smaller pieces. Just sayin’. It was sliced into pieces about the size of a 50-cent piece. Although mouth-watering and tasty, I would have preferred it cut into pieces that would have allowed a little beef in most bites, not having to fish around in the noodles for a piece of meat. I devoured that entire order of beef chow mien, which I had not had in years! And believe me, I’ll be going back for more within days! I think they have VERYREASONABLEPRICES, and the fact that I can order through EAT24 using my PayPal account almost certainly guarantees I’ll go back! EXCELLENTFOOD so far! Again, only two«issues» I had on this first visit? No napkins(a must-have for chow mien) and the beef was cut in too big of pieces. Not bad for only my first order! LOVEDMYBEEFCHOWMIEN! OH, and the staff seemed very friendly! Bonus! UPDATE: Went back 2 days later and tried their CHICKENCHOWMIEN, and loved it! The chicken was chopped into smaller pieces, making them easier to get into a bite mixed with noodles. Was equally as hot and moist as the BEEFCHOWMIEN was. BUT, on my second visit, I once again walked away with TWOPROBLEMS: as before, NONAPKINS! This might be a small issue for most people, but I was going to eat it right down the road in my car while it was still hot. Thankfully I had some napkins with me. PROBLEMTWO? The 2 «egg rolls» they charge $ 2.95 for were absolutely the SMALLEST I’ve ever seen or eaten. EVER! So, if YOU love egg rolls, you may want to pass on them here and stop by 7-Eleven on your way home. They were not only ultra small, but overcooked and rock hard. The shell pretty much crumbled with each bite. I could have gotten egg rolls twice the size AND less overcooked by just stopping by Walmart, Safeway, WinCo or even 7-Eleven instead. And probably got 3 times as many for less money! The worst part was when I went in for chicken chow mien and egg rolls, there was NOTONECUSTOMER in the place, so it’s not like they were slammed or anything. A little less cooking of those little«Egg Rollettes» would be nice, and how about some napkins with to-go orders? SOFAR: Beef chow mien was awesome, but beef could be chopped smaller. Noodles were superb! Chicken chow mien pretty much perfect, like their beef chow mien! «Vegetarian Egg Rolls» get 3 thumbs down! Smallest and crunchiest I’ve ever had. I hate to be so harsh on my egg roll opinion, but seriously, for the price charged I would expect them to be much bigger AND a lot softer. As a former restaurant cook myself, I would be embarrassed to be the cook who served THESE! And I still can’t understand why with so many meat, poultry and seafood items on their menu, they only offer vegetable egg rolls. UPDATE #2: On 1÷16÷2016 I again ordered beef chow mein. ONLY got napkins because I asked at the counter, but did NOT get the fork & knife requested through the EAT24 order app! However, I asked if they could chop the beef smaller, which the cook did! SO, apparently the cooks rock but NOT front counter people. STILLSTUCKAT4STARS!

Solid Chinese food with friendly service and I like that they use fresh veggies. I mostly do take out(which usually only takes 15 minutes at the most) but if I want to dine in with it, they still provide free jasmine tea.

Delicious food – especially the wontons! The sauce for lemon chicken came on the side and I would rather the chicken soaked in the sauce, but it was still delicious. Fast service and friendly staff. I ordered from Unilocal and showed up 15 min later(right before close – sorry!) and the girl behind the counter was super sweet. I will definitely be going back!

They are the only place that will deliver to my work. The online ordering was nice, and they came quickly even though it was a large order. I like Spicy food and at most restaurants five stars is still mild. These guys know flavor and don’t mess around. Hot means hot so if you want mild say so. The food was so well packaged and anything I could have needed was included. The entrees were so amazing too. Just look at the walnut shrimp picture I took. It’s beautiful! I also ordered vegetarian food and they crushed it! The tofu was cooked perfectly. Many places are so lame to vegetarians and only offer a salad and stir fry. Not these guys. They have a creative variety of satisfying dishes from vegetarian kung pao to mongolian tofu. Thanks for saving lunch you Chinese culinary hero’s of the delivery world!

What a difference 3 years makes. I’m updating North China Garden to 4 stars because I can’t give 3 ½ & I’d rather round up than down. That’s the way I roll.(Roll, get it? It’s food pun) Anyways, Tacoma is severely lacking delivery choices & not wanting pizza decided to give NCG another shot. 1. Food was delivered quick, about 40 minutes. 2. Food was hot, piping hot actually, I think they are using new containers. I little leakage, but that’s the chance you take ordering out Chinese food. The photos posted of leaked containers do nothing to sway me from ordering. 3. Crab Rangoon, excellent! General Tso’s Chicken was as good as it General Tso’s Chicken can be I guess. Mu Shu Chicken had fresh veggies but needed 5 times as much Hoisin sauce than was given. All in all we were pretty satisfied with the delivery & food. I am also rounding up to 4 stars for not looking up my previous Unilocal rating & then spitting in my food. I’m hoping.

I went here on a night last week and ordered general tsos tofu which is different from what I usually order which is steamed broccoli with the general tsos sauce. I decided to add my favorite broccoli in with the tofu. I was charged an extra $ 2.00 but was okay with that I just wanted my broccoli. I ordered egg rolls as well(i love egg rolls with my duck sauce). Turns out they do not carry duck sauce. When i had gotten home I realized my tofu was very rubbery and they never gave me my broccoli or my rice! Such a waste of trip :(
