Really like this midweek Farmers Market. They have a large variety and great prices. Tend to have some different things than the other area markets.

This is a really nice, small, farmer’s market. They can take cash, credit cards, food stamps, and senior vouchers. They have a nice variety of items: Seasonal fruits, vegetables and flowers; ice pops, ice cream, and baked goodies; spice mixes, soaps, honey, and other pantry items; Beef, pork, smoked salmon, and seafood; and some live entertainment. Bring a big shopping bag, have dinner and catch a show.

Small farmers market. There are more knick knacks than fruits/vegetables. There was one stand with apples and two with asparagus. I saw two stands with flowers and one with olive oil. I called it quits and went to E9 for a beer.

This is one of my favorite markets in Tacoma. They have a great selection of organic produce and beautiful flowers. Buy a lush bunch of dahlias, sunflowers, and others for $ 5. Buy plants from L’Arche, a wonderful farm that works with and supports people with developmental disabilities. Buy produce from Mother Earth Farm’s local organics. Eat Indian food or soup for dinner and follow it with amazing ice cream from Ice Cream Social or a popsicle from Hilltop Pop Shop. Best days of summer!

I love this market. First of all, I love that it’s on a Tuesday evening. Get just what you need at your local market on Saturday, then come replenish your fresh fruit and veg here on Tuesday! Second, it’s got a great mix of awesome farmers, artisans, restaurant booths, and miscellaneous other booths. But a great sell for me… come with a big basket… do your shopping… stop in at E9’s patio for a beer they brew on-site…then grab some din-din from Gateway to India and enjoy the rest of your evening at home. LOVE!

The 6th Avenue Farmers Market is getting ready to open up for its 2nd season on June 2nd and I am ready! Located at 6th and Pine, last year’s market was about 3 blocks long & chock full of goodies. Aside from being located near my house, I also appreciate 6th Market’s hours: 3:30 to 7:30PM.(Being a night owl, I frequently have trouble making it to the downtown market, which closes at 2!) There were some really great small, local farmers last year & I hope to renew my acquaintances. I found killer heirloom tomatoes at one little table — I think this woman would sell out in the first hour every week. Prices? cheap cheap cheap! Larger local produce stalls are there also — Terry’s Berries set up a gorgeous space every time I was there & Brady’s Oysters always had a nice selection of fresh seafood at great prices.(nice, fat wild salmon for around $ 12/pound? sold!) Even 6th Avenue merchants represent in the stalls — check out Old Milwaukee’s great baked goods before they sell out! Flowers, chiropractors, breads, honey, crafts, Mexican food… it’s all here & then some. After a particularly wintry NW winter, I’m heading for the Market — see you there!
