We are all Islanders. Two rinks but one is regulation size the other a practice rink.

First off, the only reason I gave this place any star was because of a sales associate by the name of Sean. As far as the rest of my experience there it as like being a typical NY Islander fan… Great expectations followed by a major let down. I was directed there by a major figure skate manufacturer. Sent Ice-works an email regarding a particular skate and received a response of «we do it all». OK. so off we went. Well forget about going there on a weekend cause the peeps qualified aren’t there. We were ok with that, so my wife wanted a NY Islander winter classic hooded sweatshirt just to have some bearded kid, who I guess is another employee who’s slurping on a Panera bread soup bowl snickering to his buddy… And I quote…“who spends $ 80 on a sweatshirt?” Really??? Later on Sean recommended that we make an appointment during the week. Excellent, no problem, So I tried. Still waiting… Oh by the way went to an awesome place in Great Neck. No waiting, no snickering.

The official practice facility for the New York Islanders, located in Syossett. There are two sheets of ice, one full sized and another junior sized rink used for practices. The place is very clean and well kept. They offer hockey programs for all ages and skill level from beginner to travel level players as well as youth to adult. The instructors are excellent and enjoy what they do. My personal experience with the hockey programs here has been with the adult clinic here on Mondays evenings. A clinic for beginner to intermediate level players looking to improved skills. My son also practices here with his bantam travel team. The main parking area is a bit cramped, but there is an overflow lot right next door, so there is usually somewhere for you to park. The pro shop is OK, they’ll occasionally some equipment displayed(or for sale) that have been worn my NHL players… if you are into that sorta thing. They have most of the standard items you would expect a pro shop to have. But the prices aren’t anything to write home about. But the service is good. There is a concession stand here, but it’s hit or miss whether it’s open or not. So if you REALLY need coffee, I would hit the Dunkin Donuts just down the street before coming in here.
