Save your money… Overpriced low quality food for a buffet. If you want a stomach ache and be $ 30 poorer this is your spot. Prediction: They will be closed in 6 months. Just horrible.

This is the restaurant that turned me on towards Oriental foods. Now I can’t get enough of it. Any time I can, I’ll go here for lunch. Great food, especially the Mongolian grill, good sushi, great chicken and beef, and of course, great crab rangoon. And for the price, which is about $ 11(cheaper for military, which is awesome), you really can’t beat this place. Great food at a affordable price. It also helps that this is definitely one of the best buffets I’ve been to when it comes to being clean and keeping the food fresh. I have never been here and thought that the food didn’t taste hot and fresh. The only reason why it’s a 4 star is the service. Most of the time I go the waitresses barely say three words to me. So the food is mainly what’s tying me in with this place, although I’m sure other people won’t be as kind and will turn this away because of the poor service.

Really great. Available room for kids and a lot of choices from the buffet. Go as much as we can.

My wife and I enjoy an occasional dinner at this huge buffet. Last night the service was excellent. We had a very friendly and attentive waitress. While there’s no way to sample everything, what I did select was very good. Let your eyes be your guide. The sushi is always a great way to start. The atmosphere isn’t the best. They should spend more time on housekeeping and replace the worn and rickety seats. It is usually crowded and loud but tolerable. I don’t know if they use MSG but I strongly suspect that they do. This is worth a try and you shouldn’t leave hungry.

This place has gone drastically downhill since they opened. Not impressed with the service or the food! Will not go back, the food made us sick and all the meat(except at the grill) is pressed meat and terrible!

Went for Lunch on a weekday with my husband and had a really irritating experience. The server was very rude to me and the hostess and it created a very negative space. My husband is hard of hearing and so I typically speak for us at restaurants to help. Every time she came to our table she would stare at my husband and never look at me despite being the one talking with her. When I personally paid our bill she returned the check to my husband despite me sticking out my hand to reach for it. I felt very disrespected and didn’t understand why I was being ignored. I watched her then stand next to the hostess as she sat down other customers and impatiently ripped the ticket out of the girl’s hand before she was even done writing. My husband brought me here to cheer me up after having a bad day and this visit did not help. The food was fine– no real complaints. But I won’t return and be apart of that experience again.

My husband, daughter, and I just left Hokkaido Buffet. The food I had was pretty good. I came for the crab legs and was satisfied. 15.99 is a decent price for all you can see. The beef in the beef& broccoli was very tender. The pot stickers where good. The pineapple chicken was very tasty. The servers where fast at getting refills and removing plates. My only complaint/complement was the fried chicken. I had to wait a while for new chicken to come out. When it finally came out there was only one wing. The chicken was good and worth the wait. If you like wings watch for them to bring out the chicken. Also some older lady got the last piece of cheesecake lol. I’d give it an A– and I will be back

The sushi was warm, the food was cold… and the best thing on the buffet was the cheese pizza. YUCK! I am so sorry we wasted our money and felt sick after eating that gross, greasy and bland food!

The food here was very good. LOTS of choices and the food was hot. There were many different items that I have not seen on a buffet before and just had to try.

We live right down the road from this place but don’t really like to go there often. food is ok same thing all year around other then they have crab legs on the weekends. they are tricky when it comes to military discount. they will give u discount only if u have the id family members are not considered in discount. lol and also no military discounts on take outs. funny policy but whatever. if u wanna give discount just do it the right way i think. food itself is not that bad though.

Price is nice, a little more on the weekend, Military Discount. It’s a buffet. Nice assortment of foods for different Asian and Not Asian cuisines. As someone whose lived overseas and consumed their fair share of Sushi in both Japan and Okinawa, I can say the sushi they serve here is not too shabby considering you are in the midwest. Their salmon along with the other classic sushi are good and seemingly fresh. Their sushi rolls are tasty. Hibachi grill is average. Their fried section is average, although the breaded shrimp is below average, still eat a few though. Their Asian dishes are pretty standard fare and tasty. A small salad bar does the trick for some healthy options and 3 soup options(egg drop, hot and sour, and clam chowder). Crab legs on the weekends, and crawfish usually everyday(I like it). Dessert options are good as well. Staff: Caucasian Greeter at the front with glasses seems a little rude. Asian staff while English may be limited were always nice and polite. Depends on how busy it gets but usually plates are removed, drinks are refilled, and plenty of napkins.

Probably the best Asian buffet on the ‘East Side’!(besides the one in Alton by that farming place) When it comes to selection, Hokkaido has it all. Great sushi, appetizer/finger foods, noodles, meats, vegetarian food, you name it. Well, except for the dessert part, but nothing can be that perfect! Wish this place was closer to me but now I have a great reason to go to Fairview Heights again!

Ok this place is ok but I think $ 20 for one person is a little high considering I dont eat seafood. They have pleanty to pick from and I’m sure everyone can find some way to get fat here lol. Service was weird our waitress didn’t speak English and that made it difficult to order drinks but lucky that’s all we had to order from her. I do wish they could have filled empty food stations faster I really wanted lo mein but it was out both trips I made to get food.

This place has horrible food and a horrible staff. I went in with some friends and I just ordered water and they tried to charge me $ 15 for food I didn’t eat and then threaten to call the police. I tried to explain to them I only had water but they didn’t understand me because they don’t speak English well. So I had to eat a plate of food before I could leave without the police showing up. It was my first time and definitely my last time there.

First off… I hate buffets!!! Buffets are disgusting! You never know who touches the food! This place is average to good! Pros: flavorful, good variety, has seafood, my dad is a Chinese restaurant chef himself and thinks the food is good. Cons: 1 star off because we once found a spider in the scallops. The dead spider was already cooked into the clams so it was crunchy. Yes. Disgusting! Never been back every since. I’m sure they were unaware of it. Spiders are everywhere they climb all over and I guess this one decided to commit suicide that day. Another star off lack to service. English speaking employees are more prone to get better tips. We still tip average but they would make more of they communicate with people. Ask them how they’re doing or something. I gave this place a try. A matter of fact I’ve dined here multiple times. But I’m done with buffets.

Horrible service, not many workers speak English. The air inside is terrible, no exhaust. You come out & clothes smell like smoke. Food was OK, $ 12 for dinner is not bad. Most people who reviewed must not know real Chinese food. Huge variety, but seems like most dishes are just thrown together!

I have ate here several times and up to now have been good Chinese food. My wife and I have changed favorite Chinese to this establishment. But to day I’m a little teed off. They advertised for Fathers day crap and lobster tails. When they advertised«LOBSTERTAILS» This is what you expect. The«LOBSTER» tails on the line AFTER a FIFTEENMINUTE wait was just that, never seen anything like it. It was the«TAIL» not the whole thing, just the flipper(lack of a better word) and one fork full of lobster. I will continue to keep this as my favorite Chinese for now. BUT if they ever do this again I will never step foot in this restaurant again! Does have the biggest assortment around. Great Mongolian BBQ. other than this I find it a good place to eat.

The food is horrible. When they first opened up they did a great job. They have went down hill quick. The grill didn’t even have teriyaki sauce for the food. I asked several times and they all looked at me like I’m stupid. The place needs to be cleaned and they need to get back to customer service.

Just when I said, I’d never go to another Chinese buffet, Hokkaido opens up a few miles from where I live! If all the Asian buffets in the area were like Hokkaido, I doubt I’d have ever made the aforementioned statement! Hokkaido takes the Asian buffet concept to an entirely new level! With the exception of Thai and Vietnamese, pretty much all of the traditional flavors are represented. They have a sushi bar that serves legitimate sushi, versus an obligatory product that only has the rice and seaweed wrapper in common! As far as a buffet is concerned… the food is good, the service is good… and the restaurant itself is clean and appropriately decorated. If you’re in the mood for«asian» food, but not quite sure what you really want, try them out. They have a little of everything!

I’m going to be THAT girl. Why? Because I would give this place a 1 star because of how entirely rude that hostess was to me when I came in to grab food to go. But my husband and his office has been here more times than I can count and had decent service and the food is good, for being in Illinois. First, I’ll tell you about the rude hostess. When you become a parent you have those days where you child is about to drive you bananas and you realize that going to dinner isn’t an option unless you want to drive the entire restaurant bananas as well. I run into the restaurant and ask the hostess if I can get food to go. «No, you sit, «she said. OK. «No, do you have a box and I’ll just pay the buffet, price, «I ask. «No, you come sit.» Ok seriously woman. I don’t want to sit. I just want my food and go home and deal with my kid. After this merry-go-round went round and round I said F it and just left. I was pretty heated when I left. I come here with my husband as a going away lunch before we moved to Hawaii. The lady that waited on us was nice. Somewhat attentive although I ran out of my water twice. The food was always fresh and hot. They had good quality food and not really fatty. The ambiance of this place was a lot higher scale than the normal buffet place in IL. Clean tables. Clean carpets. Clean workers. Workers that actually smile and not snarl at you. If I stayed in IL I would come back. Not just because I seemed to find the only pissy hostess(who I really hope either worked on her etiquette skills or quit), but the rest of the restaurant seemed A-OK.
