First place We ate at when we moved to Suttons Bay Four years ago. Good food, fast service, inexpensive. Don’t tell anyone about this place! Sshhhhhh.

Best almond boneless chicken I’ve had. Great crab wontons. Shrimp lo mein has nice big shrimp. Super quick service. Consistently great food.

My favorite Chinese food in Northern Michigan and the best General Chicken I have ever had. Great Chinese, great Thai, a must if you around Suttons Bay and well worth the drive if you are in Traverse City.

Terrible service. I asked for my dish to be spicy and it wasn’t. Ordered fried rice and instead of being fried rice with veggies and egg it was just white rice that had soy sauce dumped on it. Don’t bother with this place!

We were recently on a week-long trip to Traverse City and just happen to stop in through Suttons Bay. Nice little town. We happened to notice Hang-On and chanced it for some takeout dinner. And we LOVED it. The food was great. I think also were getting tired of just eating sandwiches, grill food, etc. on the trip. It was a great change of pace. Food was great and the hot sauces made it even better. Finished it ALL up! I don’t know if we’ll ever go back there, because we’re not from the area, but if you’re in or around Hang-On, definitely give it a try.

THEBESTFOOD. I may be biased as I was raised in Sutton’s Bay and had the privilege of frequenting Hang-On. The hot and sour soup is a favorite and i’ve yet to find an egg roll elsewhere that i like as much as Hang-On. Do yourself a favor and stop in if you’re in the area.

Five stars for the sesame chicken! There is none other when it comes to this dish! Owners are great local folks and remember faces and names well, which is a plus in my book. Service is very good and the wait times are pretty short even during lunch time when they are rocking!

Had thai garlic stir fried noodles. It was good. A bit on the sweet side though. Steamed dumplings were okay. Nothing special. Service was all right. Not warm but the server was attentive so it’s okay. It’s a table service but seemed like an eat and run restaurant because the place was so small –only has about 10 tables(?) — can’t really hang around for a long time when somebody’s waiting to be seated. All in all, good food and good value.

What a delicious surprise in a small town. We were coming back from Tandem Ciders in Leelanau and stopped here for a quick bite. The other three in our party ordered the $ 6.99 special of Chicken Pad Thai and I ordered the Beef Pad See U. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes and found them to be very flavorful, and not in a salty way where you feel the need to drink tons of water afterwards. The entrees also came with soup, and the hot and sour was fabulous with chunks of meat and not just a little broth. The service was speedy and friendly, and the waitress spoke perfect English, which you don’t often find in these smaller mom and pop shops.

Surpassed expectations! We enjoyed Gang Curry, Pad Thai, and Pad See Ew. All were delicately seasoned, very flavorful, and good level of spice. Prices were reasonable and staff was attentive. A gem.

My chinese craving was satisfied here the other day. I ordered the lemongrass chicken off of the spicy part of the menu, it was not that spicy, but it tasted darn good. Came w/a ton of rice, you have the option of either fried, white, or noodles. Portions are practically family-style, or made for sharing. I’d return, though self-control might be a wiser course of action. Pretty reasonably priced, most lunches for take-out, in the 7 – 10 $ range, more for seafood. Pretty much only asian game in town, as previously mentioned.

I know — you’re on the Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan’s foodie paradise, surrounded by roadside fruit stands and artisan food shops and four-star-plus restaurants touting their locally sourced foods — and you’re going to eat in a hole-in-the-wall Chinese joint with nary an organic cherry or free-range chicken on premises? Well…yeah. Because sometimes you just need to. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food we enjoyed on our first visit to Hang-On. We returned today for a quick lunch. My Thai chicken fried noodles were absolutely delicious — subtle coconutty/peanutty Thai goodness on a plate. My partner, who enjoys almond chicken, ordered that and was also more than satisfied with her dish — light and tasty. She also ordered a cup of hot-and-sour soup that we(I stole a spoonful or two) think is one of the better ones we’ve ever had — just the right balance of hot and sour, with a surprising sweetness, and a pleasing texture;a true soup, not that goopy, too-much-cornstarch consistency that you can stand a spoon in. Prices were very reasonable, especially for this area. Service was polite and prompt. The dining area is very small, but in our observation this restaurant does much more takeout than dine-in business. Hang-On’s menu is fairly pedestrian — not a lot of choices — but the quality of the food is well above the curve. And if you’re visiting the Leelanau Peninsula, Hang-On is the one of only two Asian restaurants in the entire county, so if you start feeling a need for some princess chicken, this is your go-to place.

This is a great oriental restaurant … The best Curry in Suttons Bay and the absolute best Thai Fried Noodles I’ve ever had … awesome. I recommended an order of Spring Rolls because they are made fresh and are great. The price is exceptional, the portions are great …

The only game in town when it comes to Chinese and Thai in the lovely little bayside town of Suttons Bay. But that’s OK, because the food is really pretty good, the service is great, and it’s such a pleasant place to be and enjoy the whole experience. Both the Chinese and the Thai dishes are good. The bellwether item for me for Chinese restaurants is egg rolls: good egg rolls pretty much means good food; greasy, tasteless egg rolls pretty much mean… well, you get the picture. Hang-On Express offers up good egg rolls, I’m happy to report, and my bellwether doesn’t lie in this case. So, go, and enjoy! And remember to wait 30 minutes after you eat before you go jump in the bay.
