I brought family members from the west coast to Bubba’s today based on reviews. Unfortunately they were unhappy with the flounder. It was thin and the skin was left on the flounder which they did not like at all. They had to peel it off which destroyed their sandwich. We had clams and fried catfish which was good. Sweet potato fries good but we would not recommend the flounder. I am sorry to say it was disappointing bringing our family here.

Mediocre. None of the fish is local. Our server apologized for the slowness as he said they only had half the staff the night we were there. I am sorry but I could only manage half the tip because of that. Unlikely to go back.

Everyone at our table enjoyed their food. Very yummy! This was our first time visit but we will be back for sure!

One word describes the food… delicious! The peel and eat shrimp were delicious, not at all overcooked which happens often. My husband’s fried oysters were perfectly cooked and he sweet potato waffle fries were crispy and good. The side salad was much larger than what most restaurants serve. Other items our party ordered were the clam strips, shrimp po boy sandwich, chicken strips and wings. All items arrived hot and quickly. This is definitely a place to visit again on our next trip to Myrtle Beach.

Tasty food(gotta try the fried pickles), good kids menu selections, great service(even catered to our screaming 2 year old), and good family valued prices. Would definitely recommend!

Good fried food, fun service, cool atmosphere, reasonable prices. Really, what more do you want? I’d definitely go back and recommend to friends.

The view is OK. The place is a bit cozy and a bit filthy but not too bad. The food was meh and the prices are a bit unjustified for meh food. However, I like the swings below the restaurant.

The hush puppies are AMAZING! We tried coming here during Labor day weekend and the place was packed. Instead we came for lunch today and let me tell you… I would come back again. The hush puppies have me sold! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Very casual, brown paper on the tables. Reasonably priced. A little slow on initial drink service. Grilled Mahi sandwich(on special) was very good. The blackened Grouper sandwich was a little too spicy and the piece of fish was small, only about half of the bun. Popcorn shrimp and hush puppies were a highlight.

I had the shrimp basket the first time I was here and the small house salad the second time. The food was delicious. I look forward to coming here anytime I visit the Myrtle Beach area. Bring a permanent marker to leave your mark — they encourage it. :)

First of all, you are invited to write a little signature or note so BRING A MARKER and you will be able to write anywhere at all on the building. TOTHEFOOD. I had the Chili Glazed Shrimp and my gosh that was the BEST glaze ever and the shrimp was nice and crispy(pleaaaaase dip them in Ranch it’s amazing) not too spicy, it’s actually pretty sweet. The shrimp are a normal/large size as opposed to my sister’s tiny popcorn shrimp meal, so the chili glazed shrimps were a large portion. The atmosphere is so friendly and bizarre(massive amounts of fishing accessories and décor, dim lit) overall, service was very fast and friendly, I can’t wait to return!

Fun place to have dinner and drinks with outdoor seating! Out waitress was a bit cold at first but warmed up later on. We ordered several fried items, the best being the catfish. The fried clams were small, the grouper was a bit dry, the fried green tomatoes and the french fries were a bit soggy. The oysters were huge, came with a side of horseradish which was nice. Never had hushpuppies before, tasted like a fried condensed doughnut that came with honey butter. Would come back for the catfish and the outdoor seating.

This is a very busy place, your waits can be long. The food is very good, mostly all fried. Mixed drink selection is limited, predominantly beer and crazy mixed drinks. Wait staff is very friendly, service can be a little on the slow sid3 due to the volume. Worth giving them a try.

Our waitress offered service with a scowl, but the food was good. The hush puppies were divine and easily the best past of the meal. Fresh-fried, sweet, not to be missed. I had a shrimp po’boy. Normally this is more than shrimp, onions, and lettuce on a bun, so I had to dress it myself(put the cole slaw and some tartar sauce on it and it turned out well). The shrimp was fresh and the bread was fresh, so it worked out. I was too full to eat the fries, but I ate one and it was fine. Wife had shrimp basket, she was disappointed that they were popcorn shrimp and said they were OK, not the best. Oldest kid: Fried calamari with jalapeño jelly, she said it was very good, everything tasted fresh and the fries were amazing. Youngest kid: Kid’s popcorn shrimp basket, she said it was good. I think there are better seafood places, but this was the only one open late on a Sunday night. So that’s OK.

The place has really fun decorations and the fans are tight but that’s all it has to offer for atmosphere. We have been here for an hour or so and have been listening to a talk radio show(not sports) in between pop top 20 hits… Not much for atmosphere Sat at the bar for $ 2 natty lights and pbr which is what drew us in but the bartender/server was AWFUL. I mean the worst in the business! My bf works in the restaurant business and his first remark was«she should be working in the kitchen, not dealing with people» He asked for a shot and she responded«this is not a shots bar» to preface that scenario I should add we are calm hippies with dreads and obviously not club goers so this struck us as incredibly rude. What bar doesn’t serve shots? After she brought us our food, she didn’t check on us or provide napkins or another beer until we finally waved our hands and yelled for her attention and she sulked over and gave us the bare minimum of what we asked. Then we waited probably 30 min before telling her to cancel our order of fries pickles that never showed up. Never coming back and really sad because we pass it all the time and have always loved the other«Divine Dining» establishments

Great service. Ample product. Lots of fried foods. The catfish was great! Flakey and a good breeding. The hush puppies a wet equally good! Get the pickle nickles! You’ll be happy with yourself. The prices are reasonable and won’t break the bank of you’ve got a family of five. The atmosphere was a collection of things that they have collected over the years. Feel free to write on the walls and leave your mark. They let us keep our car parked in their lot and walk out on the public pier. That was very cool of them. Pros: Free off street parking, good food and tons of it. I’ve had better food. That being said this was awesome. A five comes with the absolute best. This would be a 4.75 if possible! Cons: not a whole lot of healthy food here.

We had lunch here one day during our vacation. The inside is fairly small so we had to split up our party of 10. Most enjoyed their food but my cod in my cod basket were fried very hard and wasn’t as enjoyable. The hushpuppies, onion rings, fried green tomatoes, and sweet potato waffle fries were good though.

Lots of fried food, particularly fish of course, next to the beach. Bubba’s also has a full bar, free wifi, sports on TV, and a large open patio with seating, and drink specials. The décor is shabby chic. The servers and staff all well trained and polite, as well as efficient. There are things on the menu that are not fried, and I should have tried them, though a place that boasts all you can eat catfish any time should have amazing catfish, right? It wasn’t bad, though it wasn’t as good as a few I’ve had around Chicago. The hush puppies and crab cake were very good, and the sweet potato waffle fries were decent. The seating is close, so be sure you’re on good behavior!

Mediocre. That pretty much describes the whole experience at Bubba’s. They’ve got a prime location close to the beach, and where most people stay. The parking lot is small and I imagine in the summer finding a place to park could be problematic. Food was ok. Service was ok. At least they had a TV So I could watch the game…

I just LOVE this place from the hush puppies to the catfish and even Bubettes Good Doins salad. There isn’t a bad thing on the menu. The wait staff are all extremely friendly and efficient and if you are lucky enough to be seated in Kim’s section get ready for some special treatment, you will feel like family. I gain 5 pounds on every visit to Surfside Beach and I know Bubbas Fish Shack plays a good part in that, it’s just that good.
