The food at this place is okay, not the best Mala Tang, but the worst part is the delivery guy from this place got such bad attitude, fucking rude to say the least. I would have come back to this restaurant if wasn’t for the delivery dude, but after my delivery service that time, I would never go back to this restaurant. I can’t believe why the owner fucking hire these douchebag, have no basic concept of providing service. fucking hate these ppls, bring down the level of Chinese cuisines.

This is one of the few places where they let you customize your plates to your own liking. You pick the ingredients that you want in your in your dish. You also get to pick how spicy you want your dish to be. Beware their food tent to be on the extremely spicy side. If you do not want to run to the bathroom later on and suffer do not order the maximum level!!! You cannot miss the store they have a huge red chili as their sign. You also get to control how much you want to spend by choosing which ingredient you want, each ingredient has a different price attached to it. Plates can range from $ 6 to $ 20+

冒菜。 This is the place where I had my first BBQ fresh water fish in the states. The boss was really nice when we didn’t want the vegetable. Really spicy taste and noodles.

TBH Brooklyn’s original chinatown has recently lost it’s spark. So when someone told me a new spicy hotspot opened up around there, I wanted to go try it out. When I got there, I saw they incorporated their name into a huge chili logo and I thought it was pretty cute(I wish I took a picture!). Anyways, onward to the food. They have a general menu with apps/entrees and a check off menu where you can add different ingredients(as to your choosing) together into a hot spicy bowl. My girlfriend and I ordered the spicy beef tendon appetizer and one of spicy bowls to share. The spicy beef tendon was pretty good but I really enjoyed the spicy bowl. I would describe it like a dry hot pot but spicy. The serving size was much bigger than expected and for $ 20 dollars we were more than stuffed. Would I come back here? Of course! I saw a bunch of people ordering these huge soup-like casseroles so I definitely want to try that. They also gave us free boiled peanuts to munch on while waiting for our meal. However, I would suggest bringing a mandarin speaking friend since the waiter’s english was lacking a bit.

Very flavorful food. We got our pot in mild and it was on the spicier side. The spicy pot comes with free peanuts and free white rice :). It was so much food that we expect 2 – 4 more meals to come out of our leftovers. Customer service was a little lacking and the waiters were a little rude. English seemed to be a challenge for the waiters so please be aware. Overall a 4 star!

I give the one star because a terrible terrible terrible staff. Of course I didn’t mean any staffs. I just want to mention the stuff that served us. When we walked here, she served us without any smile, okay, that is okay, but she treat every customer as they owe her money. Also, we sat there for a long time without any drink. This is not a way to earn tips. Can u enjoy ur meal if your staff treats you with impatient?

Spicy food is life. Spicy food is love. Spicy food makes me happy. This place was first introduced to me by my sister who sent countless of photos to me regarding her late night snacks. Today I went cause I finally had time to try it and my mom offered to pay — so why not. Upon arrival this place was packed so I opted for takeout. It also smelled divine. The ordering process is easy, check off what you want in your spicy pot and they cook it all together with your preferred level of spicyness. Service was nothing to marvel at, I spoke in mandarin so preferably bring someone who knows mandarin. The food took 15 – 20 minutes, I didn’t mind the wait because the place smelled soooo good. It took me 45 minutes to get home and the food was still piping hot. 20 $ got me a big tray full of food along with 2 pints of rice. It was so flavorful with just the right amount of spice(I got less spicy). They had said medium spice was still really spicy but next time I will try it. I will return because it is so close to the N train and it is inexpensive for an ample amount of food.

Came here afterwork for dinner with a group of friends craving some some spices on our tongue. I live close by in the neighborhood(the restaurant is in a convenient location, close enough to 8 ave but not in the heart of it so there is not much leg traffic) in 7th avenue down the street from the train station. I had expected a wait since there was a group of us, however once we walked in we had a table right away.(Perhaps because it was a Thursday night.) I had expected this restaurant to be a mala hot pot restaurant judging from the outside, but upon ordering the menu didn’t provide a hot pot option and I didn’t see any patrons getting hot pot either. Instead of hot pot, the restaurant offered a stir fried mix bowl with your choices of veggies, seafood and meat. You choose and check of which items you want in your mix bowl from the menu. Every veggie you choose is ¼ lb and meat is 1⁄3 lbs, and all stir friend together with your level of spice.(We choose mild, but that was suffice for us.) We also order the FJ fish head and tofu soup, which was lip smacking good. Tasted authentic and something that you would expect in the home of a family that reside in the villages of China.(Fish head soup is highly recommend because it usually creates a sweeter broth.) That was the only non-spicy item I saw on the menu. The staff was nice and accommodating and gave us free herbal cooked peanuts. I had a horrible time communicating with the staff because they were all native mandarin speakers, but luckily I had mandarin friends that saved the day. HEADSUP: Bring a mandarin friend with you to make ordering easy! :) The decoration of this place is cute which is why I had been eyeballing it for a while, the outside have a catchy chill pepper with a Chinese name as the name of the restaurant(which I couldn’t read), but the menu is in English and Chinese. For those that don’t know Chinese would still be able to order. I was slightly disappointed that this place didn’t offer mala hot pot… the quest continues!

Very happy with the spicy seafood soup: for just seven dollars, a large hotpot-style soup of four kinds of mushrooms, tofu skin, seaweed, cabbage, and your choice of seafood(i had clams and mussels). As other reviews said, the lowest level of spicy is still spicy. I tried the medium and could barely walk the next day. They’re not kidding with the stylized chili pepper over the door! The menu is bilingual, Chinese and English.

A decent, somewhat cozy hotpot place that clearly gets the Favor Taste overflow.(Wait at FT looked like an hour; here, about 20 min., on a Sat. night.). The«dry» hotpot is a nice option for those times you want to pick your own hotpot ingredients but don’t have the energy to do all the dipping and cooking. Chose the lowest spice level, and it was plenty hot, so be forewarned. Weaknesses:(1) they haven’t yet figured out how to manage seating. I was a party of two; there was another waiting; and I had to talk the waitstaff into letting us share a round table that they said they were holding for a larger party, though none were waiting(or arrived later). And why were they letting two kids — the overflow from a huge family table take up another table playing w. their iPhones but not eating?(2) Ordered beef and fish slices as the«meats» in our Hotpot. Plenty of beef — to much almost — but nearly no fish, few small bits only near bottom of bowl. That said, servers were nice and quick to refill water glasses. I’d try it again, especially if you don’t like the volume at Favor Taste and Mister Hotpot.
