Friday dinner buffet — when was the food cooked? The food was bland and cold. Chicken was dry and stale. Naan was hard and somehow undercooked in the middle. Service was ok, water refills timely, used plate pickup organized. But the floor was dirty, especially around buffet. Turn off. Bright spot: fish curry was really good. Unfortunately rice was not. Need really good rice at buffet. It’s what holds it altogether. Veg items, nothing special, simple flavors. The gulab jamun was mushy and too light. Dissolved instantly in my mouth — not good at all. And, not that it matters, the women servers all seemed to where too much lipstick and men had too much oil in their hair.

Went there for Sunday dinner buffet. The service and ambience were great… unlike the food. It was somewhere between awful and mediocre. A lot of the tomato-based dishes tasted like someone just heaped ketchup into them. The saag was incredibly bland. Some of the dishes were ridiculously salty. The tandoori chicken was probably the only decent entrée there and it was just about average. There are much better indian buffet options in the south bay.

Came here with a bunch of my friends after spending a long day at Maker Faire at Hillsdale. It was my first time being at Sunnyvale and my friends suggested this place since we were all hungry and could use an AYCE. Yes, AYCE. Tumeric does Indian style buffet and I was stoked. I have been to a few Indian buffets back in Toronto and never had a bad experience so I had fairly high expectations for this place. Tumeric did not disappoint. They had a wide range of selections, most I have seen from Indian buffets. Surprisingly they only had two type of curry(fish and goat) but it was honestly all I needed. Their goat curry was probably my favorite dish at Tumeric. As for desserts they have the typical sweet dough balls which I was told were sweeter and harder than typical ones, but nonetheless I loved it. I was also very happy with their service. They were very active and taking your dirty plates and refilling your glass. And for a nice touch they also gave us complimentary garlic naan! Overall really enjoyed my time at Tumeric. For an Indian buffet dinner it was fairly cheap, at the end it only costed us ~18 dollars including tax and tip!

We originally drove to downtown Sunnyvale for a kabob place which happened to be closed for some reason. After a long day unpacking book boxes, and too tired to stay home and cook, we needed some good food and it was fairly late, about 8:30PM. After a short walk down the block, we saw a sign for Indian Buffet upstairs, and decided to try it. We were very happy we did! From the sweet, friendly hostess, to the young people serving drinks, this is one wonderful establishment! The food was excellent! My favorite being the cauliflower curry with peas, the chicken mahkani and the tandoor chicken. However, everything I tried I liked, with the only drawback being I should have stopped after the first plate, as going back for seconds put me over the top of being stuffed! And yet even being stuffed did not stop me from trying the Gulab Jamun which was so sweet and delicious, I think the best I have tried anywhere. I am actually craving this even as I write! Oh, and not to be forgotten, I had a wonderful Mango Lassi which complemented the entire meal. We will definitely go back for more of this wonderful food!

We went for lunch buffet on a Sunday. The hosts and the servers were very gracious. The buffet had a huge collection of items and seemed cheap for the price. However, the food tasted alright. What made it worse was that everything was pretty cold. The Naans were also on the buffet table which didn’t leave them fresh for consumption. I wouldn’t recommend this place, definitely not the buffet.

Definitely worth a visit. Had their weekend dinner buffet with family few weeks back. Good spread, good taste and reasonably priced. Better than many other Indian restaurants offering dinner buffets.

Pros: The food is good. Cons: Everything else. Showed up around 8pm and it was very hot inside the restaurant. In the hospitality business, you’d expect a comfortable environment. Either turn on the AC or at least have a few fans blowing. Service was the real issue here. Our ‘server’ took our order and that was the last time we saw him. We had a few random waiters/bus boy individuals that would come every now and then to get us waters but we had zero attention from a waiter. He was too busy sitting in the corner with his friends playing cards. We had to ask for the check 3 different times with 3 different employees. There were 2 other tables that came in after us that both were served before us. I don’t see myself ever going back nor do I see the family I was with returning as well. It’s too bad because the food is tasty.

The worst buffet ever!!! Came here for dinner today, did not find even one dish that was decent. This place keeps even the rotis pre prepared for buffet(hard chewy burnt) unless asked. Will never come again. Would have given –1 stars if it was an option.

½ star for ambience. ½ star for the food. Sunday afternoon 12.45 pm. Lunch buffet. Restaurant is nearly full. Food variety — limited variety. Half of the food is cold. Stuff I tried– Appetizers — Choke bature — semi warm. By the time you research your table the food is cold. Bature are flat. Chole lacks flavors. Chicken 65 — cold and chewy. not worth trying. Baby corn Manchurian — too tangy and cold. Seekh kabab — good! Main course — Naan — warm and nice. Saffron rice — cold. Spinach with paneer — ground finely. Lacks flavors. Creamy. Paneer with peas — spicy! Paneer is supposed to be creamy and rich. Potatoes with peas — potatoes were not skinned. This is good much they care. Uncooked. Punjabi kadi — below average. Didn’t taste like kadi. Tasted like the kadi that is sold at bus stands in Punjab that is ten days old. Pancharatna dal — a dish so completely off that it is indescribable. I was taking a break from eating the bad food. Husband was trying the dessert. Hostess brought us the cheque and reminded us in 2 minutes again. Great service guys(not!). I take my food seriously and am disappointed with food + service here. P.s: the waiters are very attentive and care about the customers.

They have reduced their standards badly… I had been there before 4 – 5 years, that time it was one of the best buffet restaurants in Bay area … Now service is pathetic, Food is below average, and comparatively lesser options.

Came here last night, we were hoping for sit-down, but they had the dinner buffet, so we went with it. This is some seriously good Indian food. It wasn’t the same-ol-indian buffet selection either. The selection was great, and did I mention it was seriously good? Need to come back for regular dinner service so I can try the samosas that have been raved about.

Their Vegetable Biryani and Jackfruit Curry are amazing! If you are a vegan just ask them to substitute the yogurt sauce for the biryani with something else.

$ 11.95 for this quality of food is such a steal. Unlike other buffets, the quality was definitely there — I would even argue that it tasted better than other top Indian restaurants in the area. And for the price, you really get the best bang for your buck, since most restaurants for just a plate and a piece of naan is already in the $ 9 – 11 range. I had a bite of everything and I will personally say my favorites were the tandori chicken, chicken tikki masala, the saffron rice, and buttered up naan. I went for 5 full rounds and definitely came out extremely stuffed and satisfied. I did wish they had spice levels labeled as well because some of the curries were a little too spicy for my liking. We did come a little after it opened and the place was already half full, and by the end of our meal it was packed. So if you don’t want to wait in line for the food, try to come earlier. Will come again in the near future.

Wow — I can see why Tumeric is so popular. For $ 11.95, they offer a full fare of meats and vegetarian dishes including chicken, goat, fish, saag paneer, dhal, palak, and others! Not only were the dishes well-prepared, the selection is also varied and plentiful. The queue can get rather long at lunch time so be prepared!

We used Turmeric for catering our 200+ person Indian wedding and they did an awesome job. When you have a caterer for a large event, they are expected to be working in the background and the only thing you want to hear about is how good the food was. That’s exactly what happened at our event– there were absolutely no issues, everything was very well handled. We ended up adding a bunch of stuff to our initial menu closer to the wedding and Aravind was very reasonable in pricing as well. He is truly a «food artist» not just a caterer. Our menu consisted of chaat, some appetizers for cocktail hour, 3 vegetarian curries, 1 chicken curry, a salad in a papad bowl(I know, awesome right?) and rice/roti. The dessert was pretty awesome too. Definitely recommend using him for your wedding/large event!

Had skipped several invites for meals here in the past year, since my last visit wasn’t the greatest and was really irked by the drink I got really late in my last visit. Still a lot of the options are hit or miss, but some of the items I really hated on my first visit were much more tolerable this time around. Tandoori still wasn’t as charred as I prefer and the flavor was a little weak, but wasn’t as bad as my previous visit. Same with the butter chicken. Still a little too sweet for my tastes, but after the initial bite, it tones down and it was actually pretty tasty this time around. Came for lunch buffet, so was sad to see there was no potato curry this time around. Goat curry was still strong, but most of the vegetarian options didn’t cut it for me. Service is always fantastic here and they are fairly quick to refill your waters and to tend to your table, even though it’s a buffet. A nice change of pace from the usual let’s turn over these tables as fast as we can mentality that is often prevalent at Indian buffets. Small improvements and more like a 3.5 now, but no where as good as my first visit from years and years ago.
