Obed is my new go-to for amazing service and delicious Mediterranean food. My boyfriend and I came here on a whim a month ago and have plans of coming back frequently. The staff is extremely polite and their service is impressive. We get Kufta Kabobs and are always very happy with the whole experience.

Visited Obed from the rave Unilocal reviews; it didn’t disappoint. Great food and great personal service. I felt like they truly appreciated my business. Definitely will be back.

This has easily become one of my favorite local mediterranean spots. It is quite small with pleasant décor and soft lighting. The service is great(very polite and attentive) and the ingredients are high quality. We started with the vegetarian sambuseh, which isn’t technically an appetizer but we really wanted to try it in addition to a couple of entrees. It’s served in a delicious tahini mint sauce. It was so good we used the rest of our bread to sop it up. For entrees, we ordered the saltani with kufta kabob and the mansaf. The saltani comes with two meats cooked to order, vegetables, and rice. The vegetables are caramelized brussel sprouts and squash which are cooked to perfection, still a bit firm. we substituted the regular rice with the barberry saffron rice. It is quite delicious but you will get charged extra for the substitution. The mansaf was the best mansaf I’ve ever had. The sauce was incredibly rich and the lamb very tender. For dessert we had the baklava. The baklava is pretty good but the portions are quite small for the price and the chocolate sauce just tasted like hershey’s syrup. I would pass on desserts here.

The lamb shank was too pricy $ 18.XX for the taste/value it offered and the rice dry… Other than that, the person behind the counter was warm and friendly.

Amazing! Great price and great good and a smaller cozy atmosphere. The falafel appetizer with tahini sauce was so delicious(especially with a little bit of the spicy sauce). I got the chicken kabob which included some Brussels sprouts that were to die for! Others got beef kabob and lamb shank, both great flavoring as well! We’ll definitely be coming back in the next few weeks!

First timer but was gladly surprised by the food. Aroma, presentation and taste– Obed scored well in all three categories. Ordered Falafal in red sauce– yummy, served with yellow rice. Vegetarian Sembusah — triangular shaped crunchy, wrapped sandwich — was tasty! Will recommend and visit soon!

So good! And reasonably priced too. I’ve been lunching at this strip mall since 2005, and I don’t know how I missed Obed. They must be a recent addition. The service was absolutely fantastic. They dropped off our menus and waters very speedily and multiple servers came by to fill our water glasses at least 5 times during our visit. The only thing that they were slow on was the bill, but it may have been that they wanted to let us continue our conversation. I had high hopes that this would be my new go-to Persian place, but I would say that their cuisine is really a mix of Mediterranean flavors. The side of veggies are not something I am used to seeing with a traditional Persian dish(rice, roasted tomato, grilled meats, maybe a side of raw onion), but it was a very welcome addition. The photos show a blend of onion, spinach, carrots, but on my visit just after Thanksgiving, we were treated to a roast butternut squash and brussel sprout combo instead. The sprouts were SO good, coated with some sort of lightly sweet glaze, and they were crispy and tender and I could eat a whole bowl of those alone and be very happy. The rice was a bit different too, all yellow rather than the usual plain white basmati rice with a sprinkling of saffron rice on top. And the«rolled beef» kebabs themselves were very juicy and flavorful. The dish also came with half a roasted tomato which was fine, if not particularly flavorful in comparison to the rest of the dish, which was so well seasoned. Portion sizes are good, if not huge. After eating the complimentary wheat flatbread with dipping sauce, I wasn’t too hungry. They don’t give you a huge mound of rice, but there are still two kebabs, which made plenty of leftovers for the next day. They were quite busy at lunch time, with every table taken, but there was no line as the turnover seems pretty quick, especially for a sit-down restaurant. I will credit that to their super friendly and efficient service. Of note, I noticed that several other patrons had ordered the mansaf, which I know is a huge favorite at Dish Dash. I am curious to try that on a future visit, as their version looked just as tasty, and is probably much more affordable. Come to think of it, their bread and dipping sauce were very similar to that offered by Dish Dash as well, but even better tasting because the bread is toasted! I’m not sure I can consider this a true replacement for Piccolo when it comes to my traditional Persian food fix, but I will definitely return soon!

Service was excellent and it’s a nice change of pace to have a sit-down restaurant for a reasonably priced Mediterranean meal(as opposed to cafeteria style). The interior is finished enough for a casual date. The food though was disappointing. I did not like the steamed vegetables at all, I’m not sure what part of the Mediterranean or Middle East the restaurant specializes in but the flavors were way too garlicky and not bright like I expect from a Mediterranean meat plate with rice, salad, and protein. I had the rolled beef(koobideh) and it was WAY too salty. Overall the meal was so salty and garlicky I felt my tongue pucker and I needed to drink a lot of water. There may be other items on the menu that are worth ordering but not sure I’ll be back.

While on this current and forever Mediterranean Food binge, I’m looking to try just about any place in the area where the food is good. Enter Obed. Great customer service; Granted we were only one of two active tables in the restaurant but the server was attentive, friendly and nice. Food was awesome. The lamb shawarma met my expectations and I like how the fries were seasoned with«sumac»; its not a spice I’m familiar with but our server informed me on what it was. I think i’ll look to add it to dishes in my culinary forte. I’m not sure about how lively this plaza gets around lunch or dinnertime but I feel like the location is a disservice to a quality establishment such as this one. Until next time, Obed keep it 100

Stopped by here for a lunch with a friend, and although I was expecting a smaller area with a counter to order, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the interior is, and it made me feel like I was underdressed in my t-shirt and jeans. In any case, our server was very pleasant, and I opted for the lamb shawarma salad. I should have expected this from the over $ 12 price, but that salad was enormous. Bigger than my face, I definitely wasn’t able to finish all of it. The lamb was packed with flavor, and I appreciated the heaps of feta cheese inside, as well as the abundance of greens to soak up the juice from the lamb. We also ordered the babaganoush, which was also quite tasty with the pita, but probably a little ambitious for a lunch with that huge salad. I want to come here again and try some of their grilled dishes b/c they look good, but now I know about their portion size :)

Great hidden gem behind Fry’s Electronics. Their wraps and appetizer sampler were great. The food was just fresh and light. Such a cute and clean restaurant and even with a small team the service was pleasant and fast. I hope they stay put in this neighborhood!

Food was delicious. Went there with 3 couples before going out for a birthday celebration. Everyone really enjoyed their food. Note: they DO have wine and beer available. It doesn’t appear on their online menu, but they do have it.

Love! Keep in mind this isn’t a fancy date night spot, but you’ll want to come here for a date night anyway as the food speaks for itself. Everything we tried — hummus, baba ganoush, falafel, tabbouleh, lamb and beef kebabs, mint yogurt drink — lentil soup — was on point. Even the pickles on the meze platter were awesome! My four year old daughter proclaimed the tabbouleh«better than lollipops» and said it has«flavor to the sky» before proceeding to eat almost the whole appetizer portion herself. Rave reviews from her! The lentil soup is a dark horse. Probably overlooked by most, yet if you’re in the mood for a perfect chilly weather soup, this is a great one. I’d return for the soup alone. Add in the kind and friendly service and we have a winner. We’ll be back!

Very nice owners. Off the main routes; cheaper rent. Fattoush salad: favorite salad dressing; lightly acidic with pomegranate juice. Not overly sweet or creamy. Samosa: different version; like pyllo dough; crunchy on outside. Baked fish: some white fish baked. All food was reasonable; great bread and appetizers. Food not oily or fried. Good value.

Damn good food and excellent service. The chicken breast kabob and koobideh were both delicious. The salad was fresh + the dressing was perfect.(Not too heavy.) I also loved the veggies — not your typical, bland, steamed /grilled vegetables. I’ll definitely be back for more…

Ok so this gets a 1 star for ambience… But the service and food were terrific. I was recommended the Chicken Zerehsk and it was super flavorful and tender. Rice was a great side, perfect plate of food. Great lunch option if you’re in the area(Sheraton). Enjoy!

This is a great little spot in Sunnyvale. It’s a very small restaurant, and I don’t think that many people know about it yet. But once word gets out, this place will be packed! Prices are great, the food is amazing, and the servers are so so friendly and attentive! For some reason, whenever I eat Mediterranean cuisine, I always order something with lamb. This time, I got the lamb shawarma plate. There’s another lamb shawarma dish, I believe, but the plate version comes with rice. Good old amazing basmati rice. Overall, the lamb shawarma plate is a very well rounded dish. The lamb was very good! Flavorful, perfectly seasoned, and just the right amount to go with the rice. The dish also comes with vegetables(tomato, carrots, spinach, etc.) that make you feel slightly better about all the meat that you’re eating. I would highly recommend using the sauce that they give you(the greenish one). It’s sour and slightly citrus-y but it goes very well with the lamb. Service here is also fantastic. Our waitress was super friendly and checked up on us throughout the meal. She was easy to talk to and made us feel very valued and welcomed as customers. I’ll definitely be coming back!

This place is that hidden gem in a sea of garbage! WIll be coming back & back & back again! *This restaurant is amazing. Food is delicious, perfectly seasoned & so flavorful! The service is extraordinary, the waiter was so nice, attentive & informative. He kept our waters filled, gave genuine recommendations & checked in on our meals. (Located in a little ghetto strip with some run-down stores and a really old building) BUT don’t let this ghetto complex fool you, OBED is definitely my go-to restaurant for any type of Mediterranean/Afghan/Middle Eastern type of cuisine!
