New World Child Development Center

I love this preschool. My daughter went for 2 years and she was in Ms Shawnese and Ms Sue’s class (now graduated to Kindergarten after-​school program). It’s bilingual, so there’s always an English speaking teacher and a Chinese speaking teacher at all time. Wonderful teachers and fun program for the kids. Every month there is a special field trip /​event for the kids. It is not as academic. but this school provides a very well rounded teachings for kids. There’s a theme for every month and they will learn about topics related to the theme and do special activities related to it. You can tell the teachers spend so much time preparing for each activities.
You can also sign up your kids to do other extra curricular (such as kung-​fu, dance class etc). This is separately paid to the other school. But they will help to bring your child over to the class and pick up after. And there’s a home catering that you can order (not by the school), that will deliver food to their school, so you can pick up your kids and your dinner all at once! Ms May, the director, told me that she just want to make things easier for busy families. So great!
The parent community is wonderful as well.
My older daughter goes to their after school care which is located at their Cupertino (Canon Music) location. I like that they will bring her back to this school so I can pick up from one place.

HIGHLY recommended. We really love New World CDC. We have also sent our daughter to Sunnyvale Kindercare and Happy Days in Cupertino. New World is SO much better! Our daughter loves going to school (and really, what more could you ask for?)
First, there is a great community of parents, especially if you are Chinese or Taiwanese. We chose New World for their bilingual program: native Chinese speakers and true immersion. There’s a good mix of kids — they are not all Chinese/​Taiwanese.
They have monthly field trips for the kids. These can include local attractions, like museums, parks, planetariums, science centers, etc. They also have teaching modules that our daughter really loved. In particular, she liked Sports Week during the World Cup and the Camping Week (which involved sleeping outside in a sleeping bag during afternoon naptime). My daughter regularly brings home her artwork and it’s clear that the teachers have spent time preparing interesting projects.
They have good teacher-​to-​child ratios, better than the state-​mandated ratio. This means that classrooms may get full, but I think it’s a good tradeoff. One interesting aspect of New World: the teachers stay with the children, as they get older and move up to the next classroom. Another reviewer talked about how his son was in the Red Room with Ms. Sue and Ms. Shawnese last year. My daughter had these two teachers in the Yellow Room this past year and loved them both. I believe this continuity from year-​to-​year helps the students develop a closer relationship with the teachers. The longer the teacher knows a student, the more they are able to detect changes in behavior and to see their progress. The teachers really know the children.
They also have an afternoon program for kids who go to kindergarten in the morning. We don’t have experience with this, but my understanding is that they also offer pick-​up service from local kindergarten programs to New World, as a convenience for busy parents (for a fee).
I also want to note that Miss May, the center director, really treats us like friends. She made suggestions that would save us money (less tuition) even though that would obviously reduce the center’s income. To me, this means that she genuinely wants what is best for us, which makes us trust her even more.
I was told by one of the teachers that New World CDC doesn’t advertise and yet they don’t have problems filling up their classrooms. I believe this is because of strong word-​of-​mouth. Once people have sent their children and have firsthand experience, they tell their friends. As an aside, many of the families who send their children to New World may not be active on Unilocal,which might explain the fact that there aren’t too many reviews of New World CDC. This is in contrast to some programs which actively encourage parents to write Unilocal reviews. I’ve even heard that some programs offer «incentives» for online reviews.

Both of our children go to New World CDC. Our son is in the Red Room (3 – 4 yr old) & our daughter is in the Rainbow Room (0 – 2 years). We absolutely LOVE it at New World CDC! The community is like a family, parents are involved, the activities they plan for the children are excellent and both of our children love going to school. As a parent there’s nothing better than knowing your children look forward to seeing their friends & teachers and not dreading the experience. The staff works tirelessly to ensure the children are always engaging, learning, growing, and prepared for Kindergarten.

This is my son’s first experience at a drop-​off, full-​time preschool and we love it. My son is in the Red Room (4 year old program) and we love his teachers — Ms. Sue and Ms. Shawnese. They are energetic, experienced and engaging! My son is «spirited» and strong-​willed and they provide the right amount of discipline along with care and comfort to make us both happy. In fact, my son always asks in the morning if today is a school day. He can’t wait to go to school and is always excited on Sunday night that he gets to go back. We look forward to staying here until he enters preschool.
