Sad that this place didnt last. I dug the Cinematic themed sandwich names, and it was run by great people in your mom & pop style. RIP Godfather pastrami sandwich

Awesome Place… but for not much longer! :(They are closing their doors — the cost of the lease is too much for them. I will miss them — last day of business is Friday, January 18th2008!

I found this place through Unilocal and was very happy I did. It is a bit pricey for a sandwich, but the portions are so huge, and the sandwich is so delicious, that’s its more than worth it. The place is somewhat small, but the people will go out of their way to accommodate you. We came in and they moved tables around to seat us all and instantly started chatting us up. The only problem was that I asked for no onions and still got them, but anyone can make that mistake Pros: Amazing Sandwiches Great Service Cons: Really small place and kind of hard to find If you make changes to your sandwich, make sure to repeat them

While visiting from Boston, my dad, knowing that sandwiches are my all-time favorite food, insisted that I check out Lou Lou’s. And I’m sure glad he did! We had the Apocalypse Now(reuben, basically) and the Rebel Without a Cause(roast beef and gorgonzola cheese) and split them ½ and ½. Both were excellent — flavorful, stuffed full, and on fresh bread. They also serve a variety of wine and beer — even lambic! Sure, $ 9 is pushing it as far as price goes, but I think they’re well worth it. Considering the amount of fresh ingredients, the adorable location, etc, it’s reasonable.

Sandwich Heaven! I would say that I eat sandwiches about 4 – 5 time a week. Now that my fellow Unilocalers have shown me the light I will be devoted to Lou Lou for my sandwich cravings. The décor was a «Cinema» type of setting with limited seating. The sandwiches are about $ 6 – 8 but so frackin LARGE that you’ll have one half for lunch then the other for dinner. I had the«Rebel without a cause» which was nothing like I have tasted before. The ingredients were definitely fresh and the bread was awesome too. What really caught my eye was the wide selection of micro brews and wine, definite A+ in my book. I love the Stewart’s cream soda here. Oh yeah they have NATHAN’s hot dogs here too! If you are ever planning a picnic this is an excellent spot to grab some grub and drinks for the gourmet picnic feel. My only con’s for this place is the limited seating and horrible parking.

Sandwich places are sometimes a dime a dozen(think ToGo’s or Lee’s if your in SF)…Lou Lou’s is a bit different. First off, if your a fan of cinema you’ll love the menu selections. Second, they seem like they are family owned(aka not a chain or franchise place). I’m a huge chicken salad sandwich fan… as I’m writing this I’m munching on a «To Kill a Mockingbird» with extra veggies… delightful and there must be a ½ chicken in this thing. I also really like their Dr. Zhivago when I’m in a mood for vegetarian. So old school — Family owned — fun menu and great food. Check it out if you love a good sandwich… its worth the extra buck over a chain place!

I love sandwiches. They use some high quality stuff here to make some great sandwiches. It’s all made right when you order it, even the sausages are cooked when you order it so you know when you get it, it’s fresh. It’s a hole in the wall and a little hard to fine. But once you do, you’ll definitely be rewarded. Not only by the food, but by the people who work here. They’re nice, always open, and let a few cents slide here and there. Saving a few cents is always a plus I think. I’ve had a couple sandwiches here, the 7 Year Itch, and the Raging Bull. Both were absolutely huge, and awesome. I’m telling you, best sandwiches. The knock, they’re still just sandwiches, and it’s not the cheapest place. It’s $ 6-$ 8 for a sandwich depending on what you get.

if you love sandwiches, you have to check out lou lou’s! i asked lou lou what was good and she said«the godfather» which is a hot pastrami sandwich. i ended up getting that and sat at my table eagerly awaiting the godfather that was as big as my arm! the bread was delicious and fresh from le boulanger! they grill the bread first to make the crust crunchy but not«cut the roof of your mouth» crunchy! the boar’s head meat(which they also sell by the pound) was delicious! this is the only place i have been to that sells boar’s head. the fixins were also good and lou lou said almost all the produce is organic! winner! my godfather was probably the best hot pastrami sandwich i have ever had! i can’t wait to come back and try the other ones that sounded yummy! lou lou(the owner) is really nice and helpful making this place a good spot to hit up for lunch! they also sell cold beer here! there were a few imported ones that i had never tried before so i’ll have to come back here on my day off! my sandwich and iced tea was about $ 11. i could have taken my other half home but decided it was too good to eat later. another great thing about this deli is that they donate to the breast cancer foundation! that is so awesome! lou lou’s is my new favorite sandwich place!

I like sandwiches. I like them a lot. I like Vietnamese sandwiches, club sandwiches, and breakfast sandwiches. Sandwiches isn’t all I like. I enjoy Thai, BBQ, breakfast, french fries, beer, macaroni and cheese, good happy hour food, tapas, cheeses, raw vegetables and fruit. Lou Lou’s is a memorable place for 3 reasons: 1) Nice people make good recommendations 2) Cold beer(diverse selection) is an afternoon treat on Friday after a long work-week. 3) Old style deli with clean, modern, sharp look and a relaxed friendly atmosphere. 4) Top notch ingredients. They’ve got something going for them, I’m going to see if they’ll deliver.

Will keep this review short. Couple of vegetarian choices. Moulin Rouge: Really good. Nice toasted bread, sufficient(but not overbearing) Mozarella, Balsamic, Basil, Tomatoes, Garlic and Olive Oil. Served on a french(like) bread Doctor Zhivago: Quite good, but didn’t like it that much. I prefer Erik’s Deli Café’s Farmer’s market over this. Parking is tough during peak lunch hours, limited seating.

This is a nice small place right in Sunnyvale downtown. I went to visit this place with my brother and we both got 2 vegetarian sandwiches. The sandwiches are named after classic movie/actor names. We got: — Dr. Zhivago — a gorgonzola, fig, avocado sandwich — quite delicious, and expectedly a little sweet. This was packed with the ingredients on a wheat-like bread. — Moulin Rouge — Mozarella, basil tomato, onion sandwich — I liked this a little bit more than Dr. Z(as they call it). The place has 3 – 4 tables, and a couple outside which are perfect for a sunny afternoon. You go up and order at the counter and they bring the sandwiches out to you. We got lucky and had bottled water on the house :). Surely worth a visit especially if you are in the mood for a nice sandwich which does not taste corporate-y.

This place has huge sandwiches. I think Freshly baked eatery is still probably a better healthy sandwich but if you want something a lil more fattening that taste good and are mucho hungry then give this place a try. The people there are super friendly.

Exactly like the other reviews. Fresh. Wonderful. HUGE. This is value at its best. The lady there is so sweet too. Thanks for the Grapes of Wrath on wheat with no mayo! My buddy got the«The Seven Year Itch’ which is about 3 times bigger and 30 times tastier than Subway’s Foot Long BMT.

Their sandwiches are HUGE and full of meat(if you get a meat sandwich). I had to take meat out of the sandwich because there was just way too much. They also have some pretty sandwich materials and they are very decently priced(considering the amount of stuff they put in). BUT, the best perk is that they sell some prettttyyy great bottled beer and wines.

Yes… food wise it is like Boulanger but the portions are twice as big… and facility wise it is the opposite: a mom and pop sort of look with about as much indoor space as your average Manhattan deli. They don’t even charge you until you finish eating, which is kind of novel because you order at the counter. We got a bunch of(massive) fresh sandwiches and they were all fantastic. They are mostly given cheesy movie pun names I can’t remember, but the one that is basically a reuben is a winner. Definitely want to come back to try more of the menu. UPDATE: Holy cow, try the Scarface. It is like 2 pounds of BBQ pork, ham, two kinds of cheese, BBQ sauce, mayo, and mustard. Only eat half of it if you want to not hate life afterwards. BEST X AARON’S EVERHADWINNER: For sandwiches: the Scarface

The only negative thing I can say is that they opened this WONDERFUL establishment exactly one week before we moved our office … we used to be walking distance to go their for DELICIOUS sandwiches for lunch, and now with the parking situation in downtown Sunnyvale we(sadly) will eat there no more. BUT … if you are there anyway, this place is YUMMY!

I ate here with Lily R.(see the First to Review) to support World Refugee Day(Lou Lou’s donated 15% of their proceeds! They also support the National Breast Cancer Foundation). Lou Lou’s is a tiny deli with gigantic sandwiches! I would recommend sharing your sandwich with a friend and splitting the cost, to save money and avoid having leftovers that you will probably throw away! I ordered the«Doctor Zhivago»(fresh avocado, gorgonzola, dried figs, cucumbers, tomatoes, sprouts, & baby greens in balsamic and olive oil, for $ 7). The highlight was the dried figs! This is a superb vegetarian sandwich. My bf had the«Scarface»(Cuban-style sandwich with in-house slow-roasted pork, slice of Boars Head brand smoked ham, swiss cheese, pickle for $ 9). I thought it was good, but he thought it was too greasy! Lou Lou’s also has a pretty extensive beverage menu for a small deli. You can get a mimosa, peach bellini, or sangria, as well as a variety of sparkling wines, white wines, red wines, beers, energy drinks, and iced teas! I’ll definitely eat here again and try their sangria when I don’t have to go back to work afterwards.

We came here on World Refugee day because Lou’s was dontating a portion of proceeds to the International Rescue Committee Regional Offices in San Jose and San Francisco. I was pleasantly surprised! The sandwiches are HUGE. Everything is fresh and made to order. I tried the Grapes of Wrath which has tons(and I mean TONS) of turkey, swiss, fresh greens and aioli spread. VERY good. I will leave it up to my fellow Unilocalers that joined me to review the sandwich they had! It’s a tad tricky. you order your food, they make it, you go outside and grab a table, eat it, THEN pay. Very trusting owners! I helped make the world a better place one«Lou’s» sandwich at a time!
