Dry overcooked brisket. Inedible without sauce. This was at early lunch– clearly reheated leftover from previous day. The tucked-away location is not optimal, but people will find you if you have a good product at a good price. This is neither.

Perfectly acceptable barbecue. Ordered the two meat plate. Meat portions were small for the price, but the sides were huge.

It’s probably not going to matter because a place like this is like a hydra, with 400 heads to replace this one, but value for dollar is terrible and the food is nothing notable. I’ve tried a few times, ordered a few different items on visits to their store, but the last experience is the final experience with Dickey’s. I last ordered via Doordash for lunch at work. I got a half rack of ribs a la carte(since prior experience had shown me that Dickey’s charges per pound, I really didn’t want a rib dinner consisting of 2 ribs) and then added 2 sides. $ 28 dollars later, I had lunch on the way. 6 ribs showed up along the two sides. I was not ecstatic. Doordash is capable and generally gets to you on time or even sooner, so I have no qualms with them. The food, on the other hand, left a lot to be desired. The fried okra I had ordered for a side was fine, if not great. But, it’s hard to screw something up that comes in a pouch that you throw in the fryer for a set time. The green beans I ordered were okay, if over salted. Nothing much to either recommend or discuss. Again, since it’s probably a pouch that’s reheated, not much can be done. The six ribs I received for my money were parchment dry, fall off the bone(despite what most morons tell you, this is not the target of barbecue, nor a good thing), flavorless and *gasp* did not have any hint of a smoke ring or any indicator the ribs had been anywhere near smoke in their existence. I say flavorless, but that’s actually wrong. They just didn’t have any flavor other than salt. These ribs were saaaaaalty. I realize all of Dickey’s food must come prepared in pouches or some other container for service. I’m actually okay with that if it were something that was talked about truthfully. Most chain restaurants cut corners by having par-cooked items and pre-measured and pre-fabricated things on the menu. I just get a little irritated when a place like Dickey’s lies to you on their bags with the statement that all their meats are smoked on site. If the ribs I had were smoked on site I’m the president. For the dollar cost versus what is offered, I can’t see ever going back to Dickey’s.

I am always excited to try new thing, new location. I have been to Dickey’s in Fremont. So I am kind of confident to try this one near my location. Well, the place was okay. But the food served there were cold. We ordered 3 meat(pull-pork, brisket and Polish sausage) plate and a quarter plate(ribs), with sides of mac and cheese, roll and a fountain drink. All the meats were wrapped with plastic when I saw they took out from an appliance, not sure what kind of machine(fridge?). Portions were not that big and cold, seasoned well but just too cold to eat at night. I added an original BBQ sauce on the counter but the BBQ sauce was lukewarm and dry inside the container, not quite appealing to me. And the ridiculous little portion of 2 pieces of onion rings and 3 pieces of pickles that did not make sense to me. Mac and cheese were very dense with cheese sauce and macaroni were okay. I had enough of this location and cost me too much to experience one more time.

Came here for some dank BBQ and left very disappointed. The onion straws were first on our list. They looked like a perfectly delicious pile of crisped up onions but that first bite was an EXPLOSION of salt. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE salt, but WOAH… I couldn’t even eat a second bite. I ordered the half rack of ribs(the pulled pork was out) and they were Meh. The meat did fall off the bone but the flavor was lackluster to say the least. My boyfriend and I even wondered if they had seasoning at all, very disappointing. The only perk was the free ice cream cone. Most likely not coming back :(

Food was good. The kids loved the mashed potatoes and mac & cheese. Guy taking our order was pretty slow. There weren’t too many people, which was nice. The lady that rung up our order was very nice. Amount of meat we got wasn’t as much as the Dickey’s in Fremont. Kids eat free Sundays = AMAZING! Not sure i’ll come back to this particular location.

Every time I come here, it’s always consistent. The food, the service, the cleanliness. I love this location! The employees are always super nice & patient if you aren’t quite ready to decide. The food is delicious– Their chicken(smokehouse salad… yum!) and bbq sauce is the best! In addition to their regular seating, they have some outdoor seating. Oh & free soft serve ice cream! Def recommend.

I thought we would never find southern hospitality in the Bay Area we are accustomed to after moving here from Dallas. But we found it! Service was great. Staff was conversational. Even though they messed up my online order they immediately offered me a refund or to personally drive to my house to give me the brisket they forgot to put in my bag. Wow. I’m impressed and we will be back. What a relief — we finally found some good ol’ customer service around here!

I had the three meat plate with brisket, Polish sausage and pulled pork. I like the meats in that order. The brisket was flavorful and moist. The sausage was tasty without being too salty or spicy. The pulled pork was a little dry for me. Maybe it was just a bad cut or had been in the re-heater. The waffle fires were delicious. The baked beans were sweet. My son gobbled up the mac and cheese which is not bad for a 3 year old. The 3 meat plate and kids meal came to $ 21. It’s not cheap but it is real meat I’m stuffed. Free ice cream! +1 Star for Customer Service: The customer service is quite outstanding. They were quick and accommodating. As I’m sitting here eating, I saw the cashier give away a small side, when the customer was short on cash. «Just pay us back next time».

Better than it should be – I didn’t expect much from such a big chain, and was pleasantly surprised. I’ve had a few different meats(they’re the stars here, obviously) and all were very good to great — tender and flavorful pulled pork, smoky moist chicken, and thick slices of fine brisket. The dine-in orders are served on a metal tray with a piece of waxed paper on it, but I guess that’s actually common in the BBQ world. The included roll was small and cold, but the sides were impressive — very crispy and delicious cole slaw, and slightly mushy but still great macaroni and cheese. Lots of extras at the side bar, including unlimited amounts of sauces that are actually kept very warm: the spicy BBQ was actually really spicy! There are a few better independent BBQ places, but I bet that, for consistency, they can’t match Dickey’s, who seem to have their system down to a science. I might take a chance on new BBQ joints as I see them, but if I want great BBQ I can depend on, I will come back here.

Daniel and Reva were great to work with and did an outstanding job of catering our event for 175 guests! The food was great and the full service they provided was top notch. They delivered on every aspect we discussed and they went above and beyond taking the leftovers back to their restaurant until we could pick it up a few hours later! Ray T

Horrible. Its like fast food commercial barbecue. Bland. No flavor or seasoning. Even the sides and rolls were just plain. Not homemade at all. Never again. I order the XL family mea. 3 meat pound each and 4 sides. Not even worth desrcibing. Just dont.

First time I had Dickey’s was in Austin, TX few months ago. Really liked it. The beef brisket is moist, tasty and falls apart, a sign of slow cooked meat(this is good!) the turkey is the same, and the smokey taste is well balanced, not strong. Their BBQ beans is smokey and sweet, and the cole slow is crunchy and fresh, I got 2 tubs! Pork ribs are yummy with the meat falls off the bone. Really good and honest BBQ for a Friday winding down dinner.

If you are from any area that has good classic BBQ(Texas, North Carolina, Kansas, anywhere in Midwest/South), think twice before eating. Not sure if freshly cooked pit BBQ can be found in the Bay Area but there’s a a great selection of Asian restaurants nearby. I ordered the 2 meat plate(comes with 2 sides, pickle/onion) for $ 14(!). Two tiny slices of brisket, four slices of turkey and I left the meal still feeling hungry. I’m from Texas and this is definitely unacceptable for BBQ. It was a telling sign when the only employee on staff pulled out the meats from a refrigerator and undid the saran wrap. I gave this review an extra star for having free soft serve ice cream(which was worse than McDonald’s). Get your fix somewhere else! My party of 5 regretted not turning around in the parking lot after seeing the empty restaurant at a 7:00 pm weekend.

Here’s a picture of the«two meat» plate for $ 13.00. Yes. That’s 1 and *½* a rib. Of all the«BBQ» joints I have been to, I’ve *never* received such a measly portion of rib. I say *rib* because it’s not even up to plural yet. This place claims to be from Texas. Texas better come revoke their license. This is embarrassing. It’s Armadillo Willies from now on.

Give it a 3.5. Probably some of the best bbq in sunnyvale area. Problem is that doesn’t mean much. Had the brisket and pulled pork, potato salad and beans. Brisket was chopped unto like little rectangles, kind of odd but not horrible. The pulled pork was closer to standard style of being ripped. This was the better of the two meats. The potato salad was bland and tasteless. The beans were pretty tasty with a little spice to them. Will be back due to lack of options. Kals and Butlers have both been horrible, at least this one is edible. It is true they have free soft serve ice cream. Three kinds of bbq sauce available that the chain makes. Sweet one was great.

This place recently opened up and, after driving by several times, I decided to stop by one day and grab some lunch. Upon entering, you’ll notice that it’s a relatively small joint. I went there on a weekday at around 12:30pm and it wasn’t crowded, yet it wasn’t empty either. Some facts: * They offer free soft serve ice cream. * Kids eat free on Sundays. * Their menu is very similar to Armadillo Willy’s. In fact, I would argue that the whole concept and niche of this restaurant are both very similar to Armadillo Willy’s. * They have many options for sides. Pros: + Everybody seemed really friendly. We could definitely use a lot more of that in our society. + I was in and out in no more than 10 minutes. + My food was, for the most part, pretty good. Cons: — They’re not completely pricey, but you can find the same quality BBQ food at other BBQ places for cheaper than their prices. — One of the meats I ordered(ham) was a bit tough. — The sides menu is in a completely different area than the regular menu, so you have to awkwardly walk back and forth to look at both menus. Overall, I give them three stars. The shopping center that it’s in is in a somewhat derelict condition and is in need of a serious remodel. A number of businesses that have been in this shopping center before have not lasted very long. As for the restaurant itself, it was just okay. If I come back again and I have a particularly good or bad experience, then I’ll update this review. Until then, they get three stars. 3 stars

Ok, let me premise this by saying that I am a really big BBQ fan. I have reviewed a bunch of BBQ joints in the Bay Area and so I was pretty pumped to try Dickey’s BBQ for the first time. Overall I would say that I like the food, the BBQ was good but I feel like the service and the portion detracted from the complete experience. I came in on a weeknight with my family for a quick and easy meal, we were looking for some comfort food and so BBQ it was. Dickey’s had just recently opened and I have heard good things about their location in Sacramento. I stood in line behind two other customers, the girl working the meat block didn’t bother to say anything for several minutes… normally you might get a greeting or a quick«We’ll be with you shortly.» As I waited I attempted to get my order straight being my first time there. It took me a few minutes to figure out the menu, you come to find that the sides aren’t listed on the menu until you make your way passed the initial ordering of your meat/sandwich etc. After each customer was helped several minutes would pass before the girl working the counter would address the next person in line, I sort of felt like I was waiting at the dentist… unsure when I would get to finally order plus I could only see half the menu so I didn’t even know what I was going to get. There were no shortage of employees behind the counter and so I guess I expected to be able to order quickly… honestly I can’t imagine how long it would take if there were a bunch of people in line. Obviously this will be a non issue now that I am familiar with the menu but I really felt like the service was pretty weak. Ordered fries for the kid, they had to make them and told me to go ahead and sit and they would bring them out. I ended up having to go ask for them after about 10 minutes having finished half the meal. Portions were pretty weak and I only comment on that fact because the plates are in the $ 10 – 14 price range. You would hope for more meat, the sides were decent size. The BBQ sauce was good, the meat was cooked right and had a great flavor. But bottom line the portion was a little disappointing, meh. Free Ice Cream. That’s cool, I am sure that kids love that. I left the meal wondering how easy it would be to build a smoker in my backyard. I will likely be back but hope to have a better experience. I will update my review if I am in again and this meal happened to be the exception not the norm.
