The place was packed which is always a sign that the food is awesome and it was! The waiters were quick and the service was fantastic. I had the chicken fajitas and I loved it! Definitely a go to place

We’ve been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in Sunnyvale for years and finally found this jewel thanks to my colleagues. The first thing we noticed was the very colorful decorations throughout the place, it brings a certain happy ambience. People were talking loudly and smiling. The plates on their tables were huge! There is a small bar on the far side that is also colorfully decorated. The service was great. We had multiple servers who helped us get seated, take our order, and bring us our food. They were all friendly, polite, and efficient. We sat at a both that was directly in the center so we were able to look around and take in the positive atmosphere. I ordered the chicken enchilada verde with rice and beans and hubby ordered the grand burrito, wet, with chile verde. Hubby believes that the tortilla and verde sauce were made fresh at the restaurant. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The taste of everything was authentic with not too much salt. Hubby also had the margarita on the rocks and he said it was really good. We both enjoyed the chips and two types of salsa before our meal. Since we liked the food so much, we decided to order a half-dozen pork tamales to take home. When we looked in the bag, they had also included a large container of hot, fresh made sauce and another separate container with mixed, shredded cheese. We are definitely fans and will be returning regularly when we want Mexican food. If the experience continues to be good then we will upgrade to 5-stars.

The workers here are quite funny and seemed to appreciate when people order the menudo. Not sure if it is not ordered much by others but the guy helping us seemed to be quite excited to share this dish with us. The atmosphere is fun and bustling here. Good food and fast service!

I was a bit apprehensive to come here as I thought they were part of the Casa Lupe chain in Mountain View. They very well may be but the ambiance and food is much better than that spot in Mountain View. Their menu says their other location is in Cupertino. Anyways… It was crowded due to the commercial celebration called Cinco de Mayo! We waited about 20 mins which wasn’t too bad. After being seated, our drink orders were taken and fulfilled. Then we had to wait far longer than expected for our server to take our order. Was it because of Cinco or was he just normally slow? Who knows? The food we ordered(chicken quesadilla, shrimp enchilada, and chicken mole) were okay. My wife really liked my dish because it was sweet. I, on the other hand, thought it was a bit too sweet and prevented me from tasting the other spices. As far as the complimentary chips and salsa go, the chips were ok. I like the ones produced and sold by Safeway better. They give you salsa fresca and a spicy sauce/salsa. Man, was it a bit too spicy for me! We will probably not be coming back as Mountain View has other spots that we’d like to check out.

We have been here before and this time of the night was busy with it being Friday. Service was good and friendly server that took our order. The food was hot and very tasty with every bight. The taco salad was bigger than I thought it would be, it just didn’t come with the taco salad but extras. I know there was music playing but with everyone talking inside, you could just make out the music. No problem with that at least we were able to talk and hear each other.

I was born and raised in San Diego, so I know Mexican food. Casa Lupe is as good or better than anything I’ve had down there. The food is great and the service is fast and friendly. It’s family-friendly, though it can get loud sometimes(which might offend sensitive little ears). Pro tip #1 — Get some tamales to go! Pro tip #2 — Specify shredded beef in your taco instead of the standard ground beef.

The Mexicali Chicken plate looked good to me, with it’s flame broiled chicken breast, beans, and rice. It’s like the waitress said, one of the more healthy things on the menu. The chicken was very good! The rice was on the plate(small grains of rice) and the whole pinto beans were in a bowl on the plate. They should have been combined with cheese melted on top of the beans, like all other meals at CS#2. The original Casa Lupe is owned by family members, but it’s a totally different restaurant. #2 has been around for years, and friends tell me it is essentially a Sunnyvale institution.

Excellent and quick service. We were seated immediately and our server was friendly and quick in attending to us and all of his tables. It felt like everyone who worked there was the same. It was busy, but in a lively and good way. The mango margarita was excellent! So refreshing! They offer chips, salsa(spicy and delicious) and pico de gallo upon sitting. The food was delicious and hot. And, the portions were great! I would definitely return.

Fantastic Service from Luis, lovely outdoor sitting with comfy chairs, large umbrellas, and a fire pit with room for your wine glass. If you come on a Tuesday you even get free soup! We had a chunky minestrone that was delicious and we were served amazing chocolate covered coffee beans from Hawaii paired with a Cab. Great way to spend a Birthday!

I had the 1 item with Chile Relleno, rice & refried beans. The beans tasted like they were out of a can, the chile Relleno had a white sauce that tasted like cream of chicken soup. The rice was ok! I am Mexican-American and I say that if you go to a restaurant with a certain ethnicity, if you see that ethnic group there, it’s good! Guess what? Very small percentage of Mexican-Americans! I had a Margarita, hardly any Tequila! I had to ask for more Tequila! Hubby had the chile Relleno and Chicken Enchilada with Salsa Verde(green sauce) — was tasteless! We had to try this restaurant cause it was across from my appointment across the street. Won’t be going thee again. One plus? The service was good!

First, the food was bland. I needed to add a lot of extra sauce to have a taste. Second, they over charge my check and my friend check. There is a a 18% tip if you are 6 or more but we only have 5 and they charged 25% tips. I had to take to my bank and file a dispute. So, remember to keep your receipt and check your bank account after you go here.

I love having their Mango Margarita and steak fajitas. Their free tortilla chips and salsa are the bomb.

My wife and I ate here around 6pm on New Year’s Eve as part of a large group celebrating the birthday of a friend. We arrived at 5:30 pm and the restaurant was fairly empty; that would change as the evening progressed and the tables filled up. For our large group, they put many tables together in the center of the dining room beyond the bar; the aisles were narrow but it worked. We started with drinks at the bar while we were waiting for the rest of our group. My wife ordered a cranberry margarita; she really enjoyed it as it was infused with the taste of cranberries, in a slush style. I had an «ordinary» margarita, served on the rocks. Both drinks were served in jars and chips and salsa were provided without charge. The tortilla chips were crisp, but a bit salty. The salsa was a mildly spiced thin red liquid. Pico de Gallo(tomatoes, onions, chilies, and spices) was also provided; it was very spicy and very tasty. The restaurant is located in a shopping center with parking in front. The décor looked basic Mexican restaurant: nice and appropriate for the setting. There is a good sized bar with bar stool seating. The bar has many, many types of Tequila on display for sale. The only down side is that there are large TV screens visible everywhere; that to me is a distraction from the ambiance of a good restaurant. Our large group strained the servers on a busy night, but they coped very well and did a good job. The food was delivered in batches with a few minutes between each batch. The servers had no idea who ordered what, so they just shouted out the name of the dish and waited for people to claim them. My wife and I each had fajitas. She had Mahi Mahi as the main ingredient and I had steak. Both were served with a choice of corn or flour tortillas and came with rice, guacamole, sour cream, and beans. Mine was very filling and the meat was very good. My wife enjoyed hers, but said that she thought that the amount of fish was small. I also tried a side cup of the Mole sauce to use with my rice, beans, and tortillas since I was undecided about ordering Pollo Mole or the Fajitas. The waiter offered to bring the Mole sauce in addition to the fajitas; that was the perfect way to satisfy both my cravings! I felt that the Mole sauce was too sweet; I have had much better Mole sauce at other restaurants. Overall, it was a good experience with tasty food. A good time was had by all.

We really loved the lively atmosphere. Super busy and lots of people enjoying themselves! We enjoyed the loud vibe because with 3 kids we also are quite loud. Not so keen on the spot, I was pu right in the middle of the very busy walkway. So I’ve had my hair brushed a few times! Overall I great dinner spot, just next time I will ask to placed in a different area! Loved our server and the food! Husband loved the drinks. Would of given it a 5 star if I hadn’t been placed right in the aisle way and the end price tag. 3 kids and 2 adults, with 2 alcohol beverages over $ 80…so now you know!

$ 18 for fajitas? I won’t make that mistake again! We went early evening for a family dinner with the kids. Getting there early was a good idea as this place is popular with the locals. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was OK. I didn’t like the chips as they were too thick and hard. Be warned; the salsa is kinda spicy! I hate TV’s in restaurants but realize it’s common in this type of establishment. But my kids loved this place so I’m sure we’ll be back at some point…

Oh, Casa Lupe, why have you forsaken me? I’ve been eating here since the 1990s. It’s always been super good food, great portions, great service. Well, as Meatloaf sang, «Two out of three ain’t bad.» They still have the super tasty food and excellent service. I usually get take out on a Friday evening to treat myself. They always make sure to give me some chips and a couple of containers of salsa. Great stuff. But the last two times the portions have been so tiny! The last time, it was like someone took a big spoon, dipped it in the chile verde and quickly slinged it into the container. I usually have enough for two good meals. No longer. For the price tag, it’s just not worth it anymore. Goodbye, old friend. «Now I gotta turn my back on you.» –Paulie [Goodfellas]

I have no words. Simply delicious! It was a late night dinner but the waiter was very nice. Chips and salsa for free then some margaritas. The food and drinks were just beyond delicious. Next time I’m in California I will definitely go back to this restaurant.

We had planned on a different restaurant for dinner… but the street was blocked off and we couldn’t get where we’d planned to go. And that was awesome, as it turned out. We decided on Casa Lupe, very near where we once lived. What an awesome experience! We were greeted immediately and shown to a table. People were friendly… service top notch. With Mexican food, I have two criteria that really matter most: the salsa, and the beans. And as it turned out, it was not one, but two salsas. One was more fresca, a bit like a pico de gallo(but better!) and the other was a nicely spiced, steam-out-your-ears if you eat it too fast bit of deliciousness. That’s right, two salsas with the VERYFRESH chips, both superb. As for the beans, they were perfect; not watery, not too thick, very nice flavor and texture. Waiter was attentive but not hovering… Wednesday evening, the place was packed, and now we know why, Totally exceeded our expectations. This restaurant is clean, busy, and the food is utterly delicious. I’m not a big beef eater, but had a craving, so ordered the Enchiladas California with beef. I was not disappointed. I just wish I had more room. Hubby is an aficionado of chile verde, and he ate the whole thing. Except for the bites I stole from his plate. It was exquisite. And the presentation of the food was very nice. Casa Lupe is DEFINITELY on my «I’d happily eat there again» list. And that means I’m willing to pay bridge tolls and drive across the bay to go back. Really. I would give more than five stars if I could.

Ah, Casa Lupe — or I like to call it: «Pregnancy Simulator Restaurant». You’ll know what I mean when you come here and devour your entire(fairly large) dish and create a little enchilada baby inside your stomach. But seriously, the food is delicious and whats even better is that the service is some of the best in the area. It seems like everyone who works here has a permanent smile on their face and are genuinely happy to see you. To me, this is a rare thing these days, and that alone is worth at least a few stars. Portions are hearty — I recommend the Enchiladas California. The red sauce is perfect with the enchiladas. Also, the chips and salsa are plentiful and tasty as well. Great place to bring your significant other or family!

This is probably the most wonderful smelling Mexican restaurant I’ve been into. I don’t really smell anything going into taquerias or Mexican restaurants but the fragrance in this place was lovely. I have to ask what they’re using… The restaurant is really dark at night. That’s fine because it gives it a mood for romance. However, there was no privacy with all the tables being so tightly packed together so I wasn’t sure where that was going with that. The complimentary chips comes with 2 types of salsa. I couldn’t taste the difference. They were both spicy. The vegetable quesadilla was a 4 slices of cheese quesadilla that was quickly stuffed with some fajitas. Even with the scoop of sour cream and guac in the middle, the plate looked unappetizing and the slices were not a pretty sight. It looked like they didn’t give enough time for the tortilla wrap to melt into the cheese. It didn’t taste good either. The plate was also extremely hot. I know the employees warned us but no one thought it would be at a boiling temperature for the entire meal. It burned my boyfriend’s hand at the beginning of the meal, mine during the middle, and the waitress’ at the end. Safety hazard, anyone?
