This is a great place for seniors. There are activities during the day and its a place where seniors can make friends and socialize. The community center also provides very affordable healthy lunches. All of the volunteers and people who work here are extremely friendly which provides a great atmosphere. They have bingo here daily and they take it very seriously. On Thursdays there is usually a DJ set up to entertain the seniors. So if you know any seniors who are home alone all day this is a great place to suggest for them to check out.

I think this place is great for seniors in the community. This place offers a lot of options and they charge very little or nothing at all I think it depends on your income. They offer a daily lunch for those who attend(seniors) and if you aren’t able to come they also offer delivery services. I also seen three vans outside that they used to pick up the seniors if they aren’t able to come on their own. All of the staff I have dealt with have been super nice and treat the seniors with respect. I’m very glad we have such a great organization in our neighborhood.

I recently stopped by Sunnyside Community Services to check out the Queens County Market. My friend and I arrived right after it began due to the fact that we allowed ourselves extra time, even though this place is ridiculously easy to get to via the 7 train. Once we were inside, we were directed to the main area. Seeing as this is a senior citizen center, the main area actually appeared to be their lunchrooms of sorts. The space they used was a bit small, however, it was large enough for all of the vendors as well as a spiffy Unilocal table run by Jando S. The space was full of local Queens vendors, selling food, condiments, and sweets. There was a ton of food for everyone! I had an awesome vegan chocolate Twinkie, a funfetti doughnut, and brought some spicy ketchup home with me. So good! The only real downside was the fact that 1) it was hot as balls inside and 2) there were only 3 tables for eating. Do not host a food-related event and not provide seating! Still a cute place to have a little get-together, of sorts.

Horrible service. I call in to volunteer my time because it’s in my neighborhood and I would really like to help out. Instead, I get a rude lady on the phone, whose first question is «Why?» Getting past that, she asks me when I’m available, I tell her«two days, evenings during the weekdays and morning during weekends.» The rude lady: «Do you work?» Me: «Yes.» Her: «Will you have time during the day?» Me: No, that’s why I said evening.(conversation continues). I stop her and tell her I’m sorry that I called and say goodbye. I’m now looking for another organization.
