Everything is fresh. Only down side is it can get crowded and the service slows up. They are even good heated in a microwave a few days later

A queens gem, I have been coming here for many years. I always order the broccoli & cheese and beef empanada. The taste remains the same, I have to try the other options since they have other empanadas choices as well. Always do take out since they only have about 5 stools to sit at.

LOVE!!! I don’t know If I just got the best of the empanadas they had but the food was amazing! The corn was crispy and the flour versions were flakey. The ingredients super flavorful and authentic. I shared them with my Brazilian friend and he was surprised how great they were as well. All the empanadas are hand made nothing is pre-made. Really great food! Fried or baked to order. Veggie if you like. Oh yea, the price!!! WHAT? how do they do it? The best!!! I live in manhattan and I will travel to Queens for more!

Must try spot ! We visited New York and googled empanadas this popped up. It was a great choice not a place to sit down and eat but it has a couple of stools to sit on. Great food

Had a quick bite here before going to karaōke shout across the street. Prices were cheap and they had a substantial menu. They cook the empanadas as you order — and people trying to be healthy can have it baked instead of fried. My friend said her chicken parm empanada was good.

The empanadas are great. The workers not so much. I came here on Sunday and ordered about 14 empanadas. Got home and realized we were missing a few. Also the girl in the front counts every single sauce that is given. She will not give you any extra since its 2 empanadas per sauce. Next time they should make sure I have all of my order instead of worrying about how many sauces I’m allowed to have.

Cheap delicious and something for everyone! Vegans can order rice and beans(corn) or vegetable(yum!) Drinks from Latin country’s to full meals!

I love Mama’s Empanadas, of course empanadas are one of my favorite food, I specially recommend the oven baked cheese burger empanada, it’s like haven on every bite, and if you smother it in some of the green spicy sauce is even better. The chorizo empanada and the pepperoni pizza empanadas are amazing as well. The reason I’m giving only 4 Stars is because it feels really cheap to get only 1 sauce for every 2 empanadas, they use to have them out before in squeezable bottles(or something) now they give you half full small containers with the sauces; for someone like me who loves to smother the empanadas that’s very disappointing.

Pretty good, but not awesome. I’ve had both the corn and wheat empanadas and only the wheat are good. The corn are bad. There is so much corn shell and it is sweet and kind of tough. That sounds good but it isn’t. The wheat are fine, because the wheat shell is not that overpowering and crispier and are nice every now and then. And its great that they are pretty cheap. However, I’ve had better empanadas — namely cesar’s empanadas brooklyn, near atlantic ave. Cesars empanadas were much jucier and tastier.

These empanadas were really good and slightly larger than the ones I’ve had at Empanadas Café near Corona, Queens. Had a few chairs to sit, but we took ours across the street at the park nearby. Around the 2 dollar range for each empanada, the seafood one was delicious. Will return.

I’ve tried the cheese, beef and chicken empanadas. They’re always good. I would have given them a higher score except the seating area doubles as storage room, and the service is really slow. I wonder if it would kill the cashier to say hello or thank you.

$ 4.03 is an obnoxious amount when you’re cash only(with a broken ATM) and you don’t feel it appropriate to mention it’s 10 cents extra for baked empanadas when asking which type the customer wants, but the elvis and pernil(once finally called out) were enjoyed on the benches across the street with their excellent green sauce. I’d suggest placing your order and occupying yourself elsewhere, because with 1 person in front of me it still took 17 minutes to get my food.

I’ve been coming to this place since I was young. I always ordered the beef or chicken empanadas which were great. Then I’ve tried the pernil and the breakfast one too. Delicious. I finally decided to try the dessert one. Guava and cheese. Strange I know. But what a great pair. It was sweet and salty but so awesome!

Okay, the location itself isn’t amazing but the food is cheap and relatively delish! I would call ahead and grab to-go. The Mac and cheese empanda is always a staple item on the menu, but with the prices being so cheap… I often excitement and grab other orders. The pizza empanada is good. My girlfriend loves the meat/potatoes empanada.

Quick service and cheap. Good take out food. I usually order the USA which contains apples. I really like the broccoli and cheese empanadas. Locations helps build a following and repeat customers. The eating area looks plain. Décor lacks any spark. Very plain looking. During the weekdays I see many young people come to this place after they go clubbing. It comes across as a drunken food place when I see that. The convenience pays off.

I could have sworn I wrote a review for this place. I have been here 1001 times and still love the fact that it’s delicious food with no frills. Sometimes they will have supplies left outside in the sitting area. I assume that is how small the place is. I assume the food is fried or baked on the spot being it takes an extra minute to get food when you order there. Delivery takes forever and sometimes the empanadas are cold, well not cold but room temperature and it’s not as good warm. I even admit though I like this place so much, they messed up one of our orders and didn’t include all we ordered, it’s right on the receipt. They did not correct themselves. Shame on them for being such good customers. But then again, everytime I go there’s someone different at the ordering station, so those are hired staff that some do not care. But often enough they are friendly. The Steinway location is closer and even cleaner/brighter for it’s newness. But this one came first as a «local» to me and with it’s dated feel, it feels more original or homely to me. I have tried every one. One of my favorite is pizza. Pizza is on the Wheat Menu and taste like a Hot Pocket but better x10. But if the preference is to use their awesome green sauce, then pizza is not the choice because who puts green sauce on pizza, choose the Chorizo on the Corn Menu. Cheesesteak is not too bad and Greek and is good. Mac and Cheese is bland and could be better. At about $ 2 each, a few of them adds up in order to fill one up. They also have steak but it appears to be ghetto flank steak.

I love their sweet empanadas. I have tried the savory ones and I don’t like them at all, the dough has no flavor whatsoever. Now to the dessert empanadas, I love the guava and cheese and the caramel and cheese. Both are delicious and I could eat like 10.

Pretty solid good take-out food, not so much fast. But their empanadas are tasty and they have a nice variety of wheat, corn, savory and sweet. Also they have some regular dishes like carne asada, tamales, etc. good munchie & party foods. They come in appetizer size as well. Mmm.

Yum yum yum! Try the Hawaiian! THEBEST. I do like this place. My fiancé and I will get random cravings for these empanadas a few times a year. I think the actual space is small and usually packed with soda boxes and the cashiers are usually terrible. However, I can look past that because the empanadas are huge and cost under $ 2. Make sure you get an Inca Cola on the side. Thank me later.

Not to be confused with Empanada Mama( ), Mama’s Empanadas is a solid spot to score one of the borough’s most celebrated Latin hot pockets. This location of the Mama’s chain is a small one, but is the only eatery open on the block open past 10pm. All empanadas are best fresh and Mama’s is no different. A cash only spot, one thing all locations do well is feature interesting combos that go beyond the usual cheese or meat stuffings. I’ve had Greek(spinach + feta) empanadas before, as well as pizza(mozzarella + marinara) and even mac and cheese. They have new flavors all the time, I’m still waiting for PB&J or even a tuna melt. Ever eat those mozza-repas at the NY street fairs? Get em here. Nothing should cost $ 2 or more, with exception to the platters, which go for roughly $ 7 or so. A few empanadas is enough to fill any belly, and sharing is kind of an issue when it comes to these babies. Speaking of groups, there is hardly enough seating in here for more than a few people at a time. Minus the late night owls with the munchies and the teens coming in from school, there isn’t a whole lot of people traffic here. I still wish they were 24 hours, but the fact they’re open till midnight is good enough I s’pose. There is always the taco carts just a few blocks down the street for late night grub, but then again, they don’t sell mac and cheese empanadas.
