Food Dynasty is the worst grocery store I’ve ever been to. Half of the stock isn’t labeled(the more expensive half) and some items don’t even have a price when you use the scanner. Nothing is ever cheap here, even on sale, and a lot of the stock just isn’t very good quality. I’ve been ripped off multiple times shopping here. They have ambiguous signs for sales, and when I’ve complained that I was overcharged, the manager went back, probably ripped the sign down, and told me I bought the wrong thing. This happened with a sale on bread a couple months ago, and today with a 5 for $ 5 pasta deal. Anticipating that they would try to rip me off, I told the cashier to make sure the pasta rings up as 5 for $ 5, and when I told her that it was ringing up at $ 1.99 a box, she said she would fix it at the end. She didn’t. I went back and asked about the problem, and the response I got was«That deal never applies to lasagna.» I mentioned that the sign ONLY says«16 oz. boxes of pasta, assorted varieties.» After being told they don’t usually do anything about problems like this but that they’ll make an exception, I got $ 7 back. The only reason I shop here is because it’s about a block and a half away, and it’s relatively on the way back from the subway. But I’m going to have to check into the other local groceries. Everything at this store is a design to rip you off. I don’t want to have to be paranoid about grocery shopping. Let’s hope the dynasty crumbles soon.

*The scene is a hazy Saturday afternoon. Our Young Heroine is attempting to collect ingredients for a simple fish dinner* Our Young Heroine: Excuse me, sir. Do you know where I can find the Old Bay seasoning? I have looked all over the store and cannot find it. Food Dynasty(/Key Food) Employee: No. *Looks around spices* I have never heard of that. aaaaaaand SCENE. How can a grocery store not have simple things that everyone needs. Things like this are very depressing.

So yea the place isn’t too clean, products are seldom labeled with prices, the staff are mute, and it could smell better. but it’s open 24/7, and sometimes sells great European chocolate inc. British chocolate sometimes. Although I see they’ve raised the prices on all these. :/ The worst experience I had with this place though, is that when one of the usually mute staff said she would love some chocolate I was buying.(Lindt or something) I opened it especially for her and gave her about ¼ of it– she didn’t even say thank you!!! I may need therepy now.

First off, warning: pinch your nose when you walk by the dairy section. Here, I warned you. Most people who works there are very friendly, though. If there are items that you’d want them to carry, ask them, and they are pretty open to new products. Like Applegate organic turkey breast, which they recently started to carry, for a premium. I go there because of the convenience. But this place is so filthy, and it smells. I have found packages of cookies and chocolates«losing corners.» Oh yes, let me tell you what this: I used to work in a rat-infested office and I would find cookie and chocolate packages got corners munched off. You get the picture. Maybe they are waiting for their grand expansion scheme to actually happen, maybe that’s why they don’t do anything about the filthiness of the store.

24⁄7 grocery shopping on a newbies salary… This place rocks. If sunnyside is just a stop off point to before moving into manhattan then this place will work fine. Nothing beats shopping at 4:00am with a buzz on anway.
