LOOK SOME WHERE ELSE. walking my dog in the neighborhood I passed by this grooming place. As I stood outside with my dog I was completely shocked when I heard yelling. I walked into the store unannounced to hear /​see the groomer yelling and pulling on this little yorkie’s back leg to make it turn on the table. She not only was being harsh with the poor dog, but was just as rude to me with a what do you want, do you have an appointment? I just froze with shock and said no, and I can’t believe how your treating that dog. He won’t sit, she says. I can’t speak for the other reviewers or if that was the normal women that takes care of the pets but just please be cautious with leaving your pet there. Makes me think how well they are really being treated behind closed doors when the pets owners are not around. After all our pets can’t tell us what happens!

I don’t have a dog, but the owner has taken care of my cats on several occasions when I’ve been away. She provided exceptional care, which included notes to update me, as well as giving my cat medication when she was sick. Thanks to her great care, I’ve been able to go on vacation worry free.
In addition, I am currently fundraising to run the NY marathon in honor of the ASPCA, and I am very grateful for her generous donation.
The owner’s kindness, as well as compassionate and genuine care of animals is wonderful to have in the Sunnyside community.

Such a sweet owner and very knowledgeable. I will be returning for grooming services in the near future!

Make sure your dog is small, not over 20lbs– I think she may have dropped my dog. I should have known. When I went to pick up my dog, she just kept saying how heavy she is (she’s 27lbs).

I took my 8 month old Maltese to this place for a basic grooming and was absolutely mortified when I picked him up. I asked the lady to provide a trim, as my dog has lush full hair. Basically she shaved his entire body? When I went to pick him up I honestly didn’t even know he was my dog. Very dissapointed and will not return. Oh and the worst part was my dog (Speedy) received a cut as a result of this place using a machine as opposed to a scissor.

Yeah, the Canine Club lady is a little eccentric, but she’s kind and does a lot of work for strays and homeless pets. I bring my cat there regularly to get her nails clipped and the groomer always does a great job, handling kitty with expert care. I also see the neighborhood folks going in and out, getting their dogs groomed and bathed. The groomer seems to have a relationship with each animal and their owners seem happy, as I am happy visiting an off beat place which is a neighborhood institution.

I’ve been to this place about four times and I think it is an okay place to go to, the lady is pleasant and very flexible. I like that she is very quick at what she does. I’m use to taking my dog to places and he end up being there for 3 – 4 hours. The first time I took my shih tzu/​Cavalier mix dog there she had him cleaned in a hour. Also this place is a lot cheaper than some other places I have been to in the past.

So glad to see someone else that likes this place! I know the appearence of the shop is a bit dated but the service is great. My little yorkie poo is a horror everytime I try to even brush him. I am not sure how she manages to make him look good everytime having no helper, being that my dog is a groomer’s nightmare!
I have not seen any other reviews on this shop and hope to see more in the future. It is important to keep good mom and pop shops like this going in the neighborhood!
