Hope Of The Valley Rescue Mission Donation Center

I am truly AMAZED at the advanced facilities that have been created here by the Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission. ON SITE — there is a full industrial kitchen and warm food served daily — the ingredients/“menu” of which, are provided by generous donations and cooked by volunteers. There are several full-​sized bathrooms (I believe 4 or 5) that provide about 40 much appreciated showers per day. There are mental health/​counseling/​addiction services/​therapies. Additionally, there is a full computer lab that will soon be providing some basic computer classes such as resume writing to help get someone who may be down on their luck, back in the «game» of life. Everything is kept extremely clean and orderly — rules are followed to the T– creating a calm, productive, predictable environment that helps all parties involved.
I came with my co-​workers on a Friday to serve lunch and was amazed at how smoothly the entire process went! After everything was finished with the meal, the director of the location took us on a tour and explained all of the services that they provide as well as who they partner with (which help facilitate much of the above) and what they plan on providing in the future — it is all REALISTIC and NECCESARY. I could tell right away that they have their ear to the street and understand the needs of the homeless/​poverty stricken and are creating a path forward into real homes, etc. She told us about hospitals «dumping» homeless patients back onto the streets — gown/​hospital bracelets and all! (TERRIBLE!) They have an interim location where the homeless patient can recuperate and then transition into a more permanent housing — also provided by them and their partners — and then, ideally, into their own homes. This is something that I truly want to be apart of and plan on donating more (time, money, goods/​materials, etc.) here because I know it will get to the RIGHT people in the RIGHT manner. …and you should too! Check is out when you have the chance — the passion they have for us fellow human beings is unsurpassed and the intelligent way in which they are going about helping the problem is an inspiration. Hope of the valley rescue mission is one of the most blessed non profit organization’s around, they have several thrift store locations in the San Fernando Valley now including the Santa Clarita Valley, you can drop off new or lightly used clothing, shoes, dishes, small furniture, old records, bike. With every tax free purchase you are helping to feed the needy, clothed and provide shelter.

Ken Craft the founder & his Staff are very committed to following the Biblical admonition of our responsibility to care for the Homeless & the Hurting! Whenever you donate goods or shop @ the Thrift stores in Sun valley or Granada Hills you are sharing in their worthy endeavor!

My mom and I stumbled upon this Donation Center on our way to Target which is right off of the 118. It is located within the Granada Hills Community Church. Essentially it’s a storage unit that is probably hauled off once it’s full.
There was a lovely man working when we arrived. He seemed to be enjoying the nice, quiet, and slow day by reading his book. When he saw us he stopped what he was doing and helped us unload a good 10 bags/​boxes of donations from our car. He wrote us a tax write up and we were on our way.
