What a great idea! Here in Vegas, anything you find in the grocery stores was ripened ‘off the vine’. I ordered my first organic basket and I can’t get over how good the apples smell simply sitting in a fruit bowl in my kitchen. Next time I’m ordering a conventional basket as well. They looked pretty good when I went to pick up. Low prices, and healthy ripe produce. Not to mention the pickup location was five minutes from my house. You get a lot of produce for the money you spend and I can’t believe how great the quality was. One quick stop on a Saturday morning and you are set for the next week and a half. I also like the fact that buying food this way gives money directly back to the growers. Members are encouraged to volunteer, which to me seems like a great way to make new friends in your community. Win-win!

Ok where to begin? First the people are so friendly and helpful and the website is really easy to navigate. Second you definitely get the bang for your buck… This weeks basket was great and the family is so excited about mangos and plums! Healthy eating at its best Supporting local co-ops is great and a surprise basket each week, it just is great all around. You just have to be able to find a location willing to drive to as none near me and early morning pickups at places might go.

I have gotten 4 baskets now and am just in LOVE with this program. Different items every week has really given me chances to try new things. Plus if you LIKE them on facebook, other participants share tips on how they’re using certain items. Lots of fun. I volunteered once so far, and it was very efficient and well organized. Nice people too, that always helps! This program has really gotten my son and I into eating healthier, plus it saves us money vs the grocery store :)

We picked up our first basket today and I am very impressed! For 19.00(new buyer) we got a ton of fresh food. Carrots, tomatoes, onions, bananas, apricots, bell peppers, blackberries, lemons and pears. The only bad thing is parking and the drive to sun valley. We were in and out pretty quick! They also only do the baskets every other Saturday. Check them out!
