Exactly what we were looking for in a Sunday afternoon; chicken and biscuits, sweet tea, friendly servers.

We decided to give this place another shot, knowing it may be disastrous and actually looking forward to being able to have another good story. We were pleasantly surprised. We had a new waitress who was attentive and kind. We were seated and served promptly. Not crazy about the food(though my husband thinks its great), but you can’t beat the prices. We’ll be back!

Such a shame we did not get a good number here. We were looking for a locals breakfast joint and I think we fond just that. I see other’s reviews and thought twice about it but breakfast is one of the easiest meals out there and hard to mess up. First it was the coldest day of the year so far so we got in and every time the door opened we got a cold blast. Not sure how to fix that but what could be fixed is the door would not shut all the way. Some cute kid kept getting up and closing the door every time someone entered or departed. We ordered the Western Omelette and home fries. My wife said no peppers please! The waiter acknowledged this and off she went. So far so good(other than the cold blasts we kept getting). We waited, and waited, and waited. Weird because there was a rush of people behind us but really not many there when we arrived. Not sure why it took so long but it did. And not much attention from the waitress. Not that many people were getting their orders ahead of us. Just slow kitchen. We finally got our meal which we would have sent back due to the abundance of peppers on my wife’s omelette but decided against since we had already waited a while. The home fries were possibly one of the worst batches I have had. Not good potatoes. Just kind of dry and not good form. What a great location and this place has huge potential. But it was not this day. Kind of a waste of a morning. Glad the Shopping scene was much better in that area.

Was just discussing Eva’s with family and friends at a dinner party — my last one here plus other Unilocal reviews about them asking someone to move because a «regular» came in and the review about a woman experiencing African American prejudice and not getting good service and everyone laughed and said«no one gets good service at this place». Apparently most of my family has once been here and the service was lazy, unfriendly, slow, and their food served cold! I don’t feel at all bad that my friends and I were shoo’ed away that one time.

Kids French toast was one little piece no drink and was $ 6. It would have been a better value to get the adult portion. My BLT had all tomato ends on it(green tomatoes should be fried not on a BLT). I miss the old Eva’s. Won’t be back.

I was NOT a fan of Eva’s. We went there after the Sweet Tea Half Marathon because it was right by the finish line. I ordered biscuits and gravy with an egg on the side. The gravy was super watery(gravy needs to be moderately thick in my opinion, at least thicker than water) and the egg was so salty I almost couldn’t eat it(I was half marathon famished, so I powered through it with some interesting faces). Additionally, we never received refills on water or other beverages and it wasn’t overly busy in the restaurant. We had obviously ran the race(we were still wearing our medals/bibs) so refills would have been QUITE nice… The 2 people I was with both ordered specific ingredient omelet and neither omelet came out with the correct ingredients, despite them thinking they had just accidentally switched plates with each other. I definitely wish I would have picked somewhere else this time.

Food is ok. Service is very slow. Its like they are all in the kitchen at the same time. This was the third and final time we will eat at the place. You are better off going to waffle house or IHOP.

I was told they were closed then they locked the door. It was 11:40, they don’t close until 2:00.

While I’m sure their food is great, I never had the chance to try it. We walked in at 11:45am, usually the ideal time to get brunch, and were rudely scolded at as they yelled across the restaurant, «CLOSED! WERECLOSED!» Now, I don’t mind if a restaurant closes early, especially on a Sunday but it was their tone that really got me. As they scooted us out they immediately locked the door behind us as if we were street trash kids or something. As a customer service professional I was disgusted by their service. I hope they can improve their customer service to new customers in the future, or close at the time their Unilocal profile says(which is 2:00PM, by the way).

I’ve been to the OLD Eva’s more times than I can count, and the food was always hot, delicious, and generous portions. The service was always professional, no nonsense, with no flirting going on halfway across the restaurant. But this NEW Eva’s today? The ONLY reason I’m giving a 2 star rating is because of the huge and wonderful biscuit, the likes of which I’d never tasted before. It was excellent. Other than that, the chicken and rice daily special was utterly cold and was exactly what it said… miniscule pieces of chicken with brown rice. Nothing else. No gravy, no mushrooms, no flavoring… nothing. The beans for the Hoppin’ John were only half cooked… and when reported, we were told, «You’re the third or fourth person to say that today»…, the fried green tomatoes were hot, but they had nearly no coating on them. The sweet potato soufflé was stringy and cold. The Buttery Squash was nothing more than a pile of mush. The whole thing was truly a disaster, and I hated that, because(1) I REALLY wanted to continue going to this restaurant, even though Miss Eva is now gone. And(2) I took someone to lunch that had NEVERBEEN to Eva’s before. She had always heard such wonderful things! What a TERRIBLE disappointment… for both of us. We won’t be back.

Great home cooked breakfast. They are true to their word, Nothing Fancy, Nothing Fast… but they are delicious, best biscuits and gravy I’ve had in years.

Southern down home cooking. Nothing fancy. Waitresses were all so funny and friendly. Food was outstanding. All 4 of us had the fried chicken. Add some sides of hand cut fries, fresh green beans and the most impressive biscuits. Save room for dessert. Carrot cake will be in my dreams for years to come. Banana pudding was worthy of a church picnic. Homemade ice cream was creamy and rich. Place has been there for years. Don’t miss this gem.

Down home country cooking at it’s best. Not microwaved. And if your lucky, you will arrive on a homemade banana pudding day. It can get quite packed. You might have to wait for your food. But good food is worth the wait. The big draw to this place is the 1 meat 3 sides, of your choice. Somebody in the kitchen, knows how to cook fried chicken. This is a no frills place, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Relaxed atmosphere. They do take credit cards.

Well I have eaten breakfast here multiple times and each time I am underwhelmed. The food itself is fine… not great not bad… just fine The service is so slow. The folks are nice enough but man it is sooo slooow. Keep in mind this review is based on breakfast only. In the end I would probably give it 2 stars but out of respect the longevity of the place I gave it 3

Summerville is growing explosively. Let’s hope the temptation for newer and bigger passes by stalwarts like Eva’s. Overlooking the town square, Eva’s is simple, direct, and authentic. This is honest cooking which doesn’t need a falsely branded image or steep prices to coax us into liking it. We went in this morning in something of a rush and our server, who was genuinely cheerful and welcoming, put our order in and – voila! – before we knew it, there were the two omelettes and stone ground grits, right before us. The omelettes were hot, plump, and with fresh ingredients, tasty. We’ll definitely be putting Eva’s on our short list of where to eat, this is the sort of business which makes you feel at home and not simply at yet another faceless chain store.

Heard good reviews and wanted to eat local, but I have to say this place was horrible. Microwaved pancakes, frozen tiny biscuits and way over priced for such small portions. Never would recommend this place or give it another try. Money wasted.

Very disappointing. We were directed to Eva’s by another restaurant owner, because we wanted breakfast. Unfortunately, we arrived at 10;45 and breakfast was no longer being served. Major bummer. We stayed though and had the Blt with fries. The Blt was mediocre, and the bread was stale. The fries were however hot and delicious. The service was okay, but not great. The place smelled old and stale. I’m assuming breakfast is the big deal there, and am sorry we missed it.

I gave Eva’s five stars, because as far as ‘meat and 3′ southern style restaurants go, it just does not get any better. Meat choices are simple enough with Fried Chicken, Beef Stew and Liver and onions. This is not the permanent menu, as meat options do change, yet the other side of the menu with burgers and sandwiches, are permanent. The prices are very fair and the meals are filling, plates served up with large portions of dense and deep fried delights. Vegetarians probably will not find much to their liking, as I noticed that even the okra and tomatoes side, contained a few hunks of ham. Breakfast is a eggs, hash, bacon, pancakes grits and spread out the paper, inexpensive meal out. Clearly a staple and a frequent local gathering spot, located right in the heart of Summerville. Bring cash as the plastic is not accepted.
