I have eaten here one time, and don’t really intend on returning. Their phở was good, the broth had a good flavor/complexity to it, but their spring rolls scarred me. I love a good spring roll and the lettuce in their rolls seemed old, but that’s not what got to me. Some Vietnamese restaurants will put pork in their shrimp spring rolls… which is fine. I prefer to not have the pork. but it has never been a turn off. This place put some kind of oscar meyer quality, rancid, turkey meat in their shrimp spring rolls. In conclusion, I would definitely suggest this place for phở, just DONOT order the shrimp spring rolls.

When I visit a phở restaurant, I tend to automatically go for the house special so that I can have a fair comparison point. Phở tan loc did not disappoint with their large bowl of the house special beef phở filled with a lovely amount of tendon, brisket, flank, and other assorted cuts of meat. This soup is only available in the large size, but at about $ 7, the food is well worth the cost. One of the chefs/owner informed me that the broth is simmered for about 8 hours each day, and you can definitely taste that slow-cooked beef flavor. To be completely honest, the broth was a little salty for my taste, but still quite good. I also tried the Vietnamese iced coffee, and was pretty impressed by the flavors in the generally simple beverage. My companion/mum has severe allergic reactions to MSG, so she informed the waitress of this. Our sweet waitress was unable to answer, so the chef came and offered some options of MSG-less meals. My mum decided on the chicken spring rolls as an appetizer, and a dish served with fried rice and medium beef tips tossed with bell peppers, onions, and light seasoning. It was perfectly cooked, the flavor was quite tasty. I thought that the customer service here was pretty superb. The chef came to chat with us for a few minutes, and even explained some other meals without msg for the next time we visit. I am just happy that I now have a phở place close to my new house.

They cook their Phở for 8+ hrs. and you can tell because it is SO flavorful. Best Phở I have ever had. The Bahn MI is a bargain at $ 3.75! owners are really nice and friendly. They were very welcoming. Will definitely make this one of my go-to neighborhood spots!

My boyfriend, mother and I stopped in because they both said on their last visit the food was good. They weren’t lying about that. My bun bo hue(spicy beef & pork) bowl was great. The server kind of forgot our appetizer but that’s ok. Later that night we all experienced an upset stomach. It was a coincidence but came to the conclusion that it was the food. Not sure if their safe food handling was implemented. We all tried to take a nap to get over the feeling and took antacid.

I ordered beep cude fire with fire rice. It was disgusting. Meat weren’t enough at all. Fire rice wasn’t good. Everything was horrible. I’ll never come back.

Got some chicken phở to go while the boys were getting pizza at Papa Murphy’s next door. I liked how they packed everything separately(even the cilantro and onions, which a lot of places will mix with the chicken). There was a lot of chicken, sliced very thinly, but it did not give the impression of being overly fresh. The broth was okay, but not a lot of taste and a little oily. The place was convenient, the staff was friendly, and the phở okay… but there are definitely better places to get Vietnamese food in Sugar Land.

I got a banh mi here and a lemongrass rice dish. I thought at first they forgot to put the meat in the banh mi but then I realized there was just so little I didn’t notice. Too much mayo too and not enough(or just no) butter. The lemongrass dish was not very appetizing either. We were hoping for a good viet place around the area but this was not it.

My first impression when I walked in was that the place was very clean. I had an order of Phở to go. The staff was very friendly and the prices were fair. When I got home to eat it I was in heaven. It reminded me of the phở I used to get in Austin. I will be returning for more!

Grabbed lunch here around 3:30PM on a Saturday and decided I was going to try the Phở Tai Nam. Here’s the run down of my food experience: ** The phở came out really fast(yay) but the broth was a little disappointing. I had to add hoisin sauce and a mixture of salt and pepper to perfect the flavor. I’m not sure if it’s the new management but yeah, just a heads up for any folks wanting to try phở here. The customer service was up to par, they were very nice and fast with our order. Might give this another try in the future.

We get take out here all the time, we live nearby. We get beef phở(the uncooked) and we are picky about the different vegetables and sauces on the side. They always get it right. It’s good, fast, and inexpensive. The staff is nice.

It seems like a hole in the wall here but they had a good number of tables here on a late Thursday lunch. I got the grilled pork with rice. Nothing special. I wish it was marinated a bit better. If I come back, I may try something different.

I’ve been a customer for a few months now, and I will say that the service is great and their food is good, if you know what to order. Their food actually reminds me of a lot of my Vietnamese friend’s home cooking, in a good way. Like the combination fried rice. They have a beef stew dish that comes with bread or noodle and my boyfriend who recently visited Vietnam said that it did taste authentic. When I tried it for myself it really was good and even the day after the flavor was there. Their café sua da is also one of my favorites and if you ask for them to put more or less milk they will happily do it for you. I understand how others would find the phở to be average, but then again many, many other places are average as well and they charge the same if not more. It does have a minty flavor that isn’t my favorite, so I just order other things. Price wise, I would say it was about average as well. Not too expensive and not too cheap. But if you are in the area and really would like a quick Vietnamese food fix, this is not a bad place to go. I do like supporting family run restaurants and wish them well.

The new owners have ruined a good thing! The phở is not nearly as good as it used to be. It was perfect before. Now it’s too hot and very bland. I also used to love the iced tea here and now it’s something else, might be jasmine. I’m not sure exactly what kind it is now, but it tastes like perfume(although I don’t make a habit of drinking perfume). Don’t know if I’ll come back anymore. :(

I picked up some phở the other day. The meat was NOT fresh at all. The noodle was hard even after I warmed it up. I cant come back.

Two stars for the good service. They’re nice, speedy with drinks, and their food doesn’t take long to get out either. That being said, their food is just average. I don’t remember the name of my dish, but it was tofu and vegetables drenched in some awful sauce with a plate of rice. Everything about it was average — avg rice and tofu. Couldve been better without that sauce! Definitely will not be coming back here.

They have kind employees, but their food is ok. I’ve only been here once, and I haven’t tried all their dishes. I’m willing to give it another chance. Their food is prepared pretty well. It can be pricy, Just dont pick the expensive stuff ;3.

!!!Open til 10pm!!! Yummy phở, wife loves their Bo Kho(beef stew). Missed their mudbugs this year *truly saddened* service is always courteous and polite. Overall my opinions on Phở Tan Loc is that it is reasonably priced, food is definitely solid, and friendly service… Why wouldn’t people want to spend their money here!!!

I’m vietnamese. I know good phở. Unfortunately that also means I would know what bad phở taste like. This is it. I gave this place 3 chances out of convenience(location wise) and I know I’ll never eat here again. This place FEELS dirty when you walk in. It’s also very dead so you know the meat for the banh mi has been sitting out. The food is terrible. Save your money and go further down hwy 6 to Phở Ben.

Starting from late February, this place serves boiled crawfish! The Vietnamese-style crawfish is very flavorful, in good sizes, reasonably priced at $ 5.99 per lb, and most important of all, fresh & yummy! Honestly, some of those crawfish that I had tonight were still small and a couple of them not as fresh, but i’m sure the quality of the crustaceans would get better when crawfish season is in full swing! Anyways, flavor was good, and the lemon and lime in the boil gave it a refreshing, tangy kick that both the boyfriend and I did enjoy!

This is a small place and its not as consistent as I would love it to be. First time I went here I ordered the Phở and rice dish with pork and it was delicious but after coming here for so many times, I realized the phở is not that well flavored, they are skimpy on the meat, and their large size looks like a small compared to other restaurants. I tired their crawfish the other month and lets say I tasted nothing but seasoning powder on them. Also, they were small, which made me very unhappy. Because of all that, I don’t think I will ever come back and I don’t recommend this place to any others either.
