I found this shop on Unilocal.Im from california and I hate going to barbershops because I have a wierd head and they make it look weirder. But I saw this had very good reviews and I decided to try it out. I got my haircut by mama. I was extremely pleased by the haircut!(Like I said I have a wierd head) most barbers make it look even weirder and I was surprised Mama noticed and modified my haicut and trim the sides a little shorter to make it look normal. I was extremely surprised and pleased. Definitely should come here for a haircut.

My long time Barber just had to stop cutting hair, so I was nervous to try someone new. The owner was who cut my hair and she did a fantastic job. She was courteous, friendly, and talkative. She treated me like I was one of her own children. The price was great, cheaper than I used to pay. It was 17 $. I went on Friday morning and it was empty. I liked that she used a straight razor to clean up the ears and neck. I would recommend this Barber.

I am quite surprised to see the positive reviews below. I came in one day and had a guy cut my hair(I believe his name was Buddy). No greetings of course and barley asked what I wanted to get done. Apart from ignoring my question about his day, when I politely asked to cut my hair shorter, he went completely nuts ! He responded in a very rude and childish way that this is not a beauty salon, whatever that means. The lady working in the shop tried to calm him down and apologized for his behavior. I was ready to literally punch him in the face but then I thought to myself he was probably mad about the choices he made in his life that ended him working there. Don’t get me wrong, people that cut hair for a living are generally hard working people and those that know how to deal with customers have my respect. In the end, I decided to let it go. Bottom line is, take your business elsewhere.

(Posted by Shane) After going to a local salon for several years, I decided to look for a ‘real’ barbershop that could do more than just use clippers; the hairstyle I was going for needed to be blended properly and be styled using scissors, though the salon couldn’t seem to get it just right. I found Dickey’s Barbershop on Unilocal, and thanks to the satisfying reviews it got, I decided to give it a try. When I got there, the shop is rather small with only three barber chairs; this is normal for a barbershop, however. The barbers there,(two men and one woman) were all extremely welcoming and very pleasing to talk to. When it was my time to get my haircut(after waiting approx. 5−10mins) I was somewhat apprehensive about letting a woman cut my hair due to the fact I have always gotten my hair cut by a man. Come to find out, she was the owner of the shop and she explained that her father was the one who owned the shop and that she had been there since 1988. Immediately after hearing this, my worries were gone. During the haircut, she explained the natural patterns of my hair and how my hair should be cut(in contrast to the person who last cut my hair), and where I had cowlicks. She also suggested that I comb my hair a certain direction/way and to use certain hair products due to my wavy hair. All of this information seems rather trivial, but for someone who was seeking this information for years, I sure loved it. All in all, my experience was great. I am definitely going back!

I am from New York and have been looking for a good barber in town. I have been to a few that were all O.K. but Dickies was awesome. MaMa(Jeannie) is the best! She was so funny and by far the most southern woman I’ve met since Ive been here. Heavy accent, great storys, hilarious phrases. Not many people were as «Texan» as I thought theyd be before I moved here… she is the real southern deal. She talks to you the whole time and asks you questions, there is no awkward silences. I was the only one there when I walked in and she took extra care. Men’s Cuts are $ 17(check or cash, no credit/debit cards) which is a little more than most shops by a couple bucks, but definitely worth it. Very skillful, very good haircut! Great customer service! When I left i felt like I had been going there for years. Loved it! Thanks MaMa!!!

Id Like to begin this review thanking MaMa & Brandon for Once I get Southern Treatment and an above average haircut. Being my Birthday today, I wanted a haircut and A new Outlook in texas, woke up blessed and happy to meet these nice folks since I left Super Fresh & loved. I surprisingly got the shop before any other barber and Waited for Brandon since he’s their GoTo Guy there. An Hour later, I met Brandon and asked to skip his set appountment and cut mine due to the Time I needed to get to work today, he Accepted and Did as promised. I then carried on valuable conversations with The OG of the shop MaMa’ and she was quite nice and loving to me and everyone. I couldn’t have asked for anything more. I’ll make time before leaving for a second cut. Thanks

Terrible customer service. I came in on a Friday afternoon about 45 minutes before they were scheduled to close. The waiting area was pretty full but I decided to wait as I had gotten a haircut here before and liked the results. The barbers, instead of greeting me as a customer or even saying politely that they are not taking any more people for the day(which I would completely understand as this was a friday afternoon), simply said, «We open at 7 in the morning.» As much as I would like to support this local business, I will be taking my money to a company that knows the meaning of customer service.

Ms. Jeanie and the boys have been serving up inexpensive quality haircuts for years. I’ve been going to them for the last 16 years. I’ll never go anywhere else.

Still good… Just too expensive. I can get a good cut for ½ the price down the road.

I have been getting my hair cut at Dickey’s for over 10 years and have always been very satisfied. Ms. Jeannie, Buddy and Brandon are ALL excellent and professional barbers. I hope they stay in business for 20 years! As long as I live in the Sugar Land area, I will ALWAYS get my hair cut at Dickey’s. Thanks guys! Tacos on the way! :-)

You didn’t come here for a perm. You didn’t come here for a some high fashion pompadour. You came for a haircut, and that is exactly what you are going to get here. A damn fine haircut at a damn fine price. Buddy, Brandon or Jeannie will give you a great haircut and a great conversation. A hot lather shave around the back of your neck and ears, and attention to detail you just don’t get at you local mall. Not sure what happened to put Bob C. off so badly on this place but I have never had a bad experience, certainly not to that level. Once when they did seem to cut it a little off, simply came back the next afternoon and they fixed me up for free. Have been coming here off and on since the early 90’s. If you come on a Friday afternoon or Saturday, get comfy with a magazine or your phone, and strike up a conversation. be prepared to wait, with three barbers you can only cut hair so fast. bring your cash, no cards. I highly recommend Dickey’s, If you want a classic haircut and shave from and ‘old fashioned’ barber this is for you. If you want some snooty hipster to coif your bouffant, First Colony Mall is probably more your speed.

Worst haircut I can remember, in fact I had to go directly to another barber and try to fix what I had just paid for. I don’t understand how they stay in business. They are very unfriendly barbers. I felt uncomfortable from time I entered when the lady owner thought it necessary to make a snide comment for my requesting one of the two male barbers instead of her. They wont see me again.

As their name implies, Dickey’s is an old time barber shop complete with three classic chairs, competent staff and fair prices. Included in the $ 15 dollar price for a men’s cut is a hot lather straight edge razor shave. No shampooing, no hair products forced upon the customer and no appointment necessary. Pure and simple, just as it should be. Visit Buddy, Jeannie or Brandon– you will not be disappointed.
