As mentioned closed… Look for Bistro20 Sky Restaurant in Sudbury Closing; Bistro 20 to Open in Its Place A family-friendly restaurant in Sudbury that has been serving American fare for 13 years is getting ready to close its doors, and a new family-style dining spot will be moving into the space. According to the Milford Daily News, Sky Restaurant on Route 20 is looking to close by the end of June, with Bistro 20 possibly opening later in the summer. Sky, which first opened in 1997, has featured mostly American fare, including clam chowder, a lobster club sandwich, burgers, baby back ribs, grilled swordfish, and London broil, as well as several pasta dishes. The Daily News article mentions that Bistro 20, which will have a different owner from Sky, is going to take some of the current dishes on Sky’s menu and have them on their menu in addition to some of their own dishes. The owner of Bistro 20 is also the person behind Bellino’s Trattoria on Lowell Street in Wakefield, according to the article.

Sky has gone downhill in recent years. Food is now below average, and in my experience not always cooked to specifications. I like most of my veggies well-cooked, but on several occasions recently when I have specified that, apparently the message didn’t get through. I also think the food is overpriced for what you get, and it would be nice if they could vary their menu some from time to time. As a 25-year resident of Sudbury, I really would no longer recommend Sky to anyone wanting to eat in the town.

I went to the Comedy Night in January, and it was FANTASTIC. I laughed my ass off for over an hour, and the buffet-style food was surprisingly good. Actually, it was delicious. I’m definitely going to their next comedy night. $ 50 for salad(Which was not too great, but not too bad), entrée(chicken, salmon — yum! — pasta, veg and… something I forgot), and dessert. Quite tasty. And then an hour(and a half?) of great entertainment. Joe Wong, the 3rd entertainer, made me laugh til I had tears in my eyes. Including gratuity and tax? What a GREAT evening. Thanks, guys!

Hasn’t been good food for a long time and still isn’t, as I recently, foolishly found out, again. The food is stale and tossed together according to some list by workers who are only following instructions. Avoid this place. But, if you want to drink, this is the place to go, as there is a lively bar with lots of TVs.

Just ate dinner there tonight. The wine(Matua Sauvignon Blanc) is the best I’ve tated at the price: $ 8.00 per glass. We ordered 2 appetizers, baked brie with pears and chicken tenders with blue cheese and cucumber. We planned on ordering a dinner after the appetizers, but the appetizers were so satisfying, we didn’t need to order any more food. The only wrinkle: I ordered the chicken tenders with the hot sauce on the side, but that didn’t happen. The chicken arrived covered in hot sauce and had to be sent back. That took a while. All in all, very nice meal. Sky has improved immeasurably over the last couple of years.

Alas Sky, you make me blue! On the positive side, it’s a nice bar with good draught beers. The Southwestern Eggrolls are awesome! But, the past few visits we have noticed a STRONG odor. I am a man and I know what that smell is. It’s a urinal puck deodorant! Not a good smell when one is eating. Whatever stench you were trying to cover up must have been pretty bad! Sorry Sky. Fumigate, deodorize, vaporize yourself, but I’m not setting foot back in there!!!

My fiancé took me to Sky because we were in the mood for a nice, fancy-ish dinner. This was our first visit. Overall, it was just okay and we were disappointed. We went around 9PM on a Saturday night and the place was pretty dead. Our waitress was very nice so I must complement her! She was attentive and sweet. What we found disappointing was the food. We ordered 1 appetizer(chicken satay sticks) which were actually very good. Based on that, we were excited for dinner. However, dinner was the disappointment. We both ordered off the specials menu(maybe that was our mistake?). I got the chicken florentine pasta and my fiancé got the citrus mahi mahi special. The chicken pasta was overwhelmed by the taste of bacon and the sauce was bland and pretty tasteless. I added salt to the dish which improved it slightly, but not much. For the other, they were out of mahi mahi so substituted salmon(they did warn us ahead of time). The salmon was quite fishy tasting and was pretty boring. The almond rice was pretty good and it came with grilled plums and peaches. Overall it was just boring. I’ve cooked better at home. For the price of the dinner, the food was a big let down. Note: the service was fine and we did not notice any unpleasant smell that other reviewers have mentioned. We just didn’t like the food. Definitely will not be going back.

I had been to Sky a few times and was never impressed by the food very much. Then Thanksgiving rolled around, and since it’s pretty much the only bar in Sudbury it’s where everyone goes to get together with old friends they haven’t seen in years. Well Sky decided that they were only going to accept Massachusetts licenses or military ID’s to let people into the bar. I am 25 years old and in graduate school but because I had a Maryland license I could not get into the local bar in my hometown. I about blew up at the manager… it was the most ridiculous thing I could have heard. I hope he realizes to this day how much money he lost by turning everyone with an out-of-state license away…

shortly before being assaulted by a mob of shrieking jewish children, i went to sky for a plate of nachos and a slice of cake large enough to feed a family of twelve. i was photographing a baht mitzvah nearby and had some time, and this is the tube in which i decided to flush my money down. the nachos were nice. mmk. the cake was just f*ing big. i’m serious. it was absolutely shocking. it was the size of a human head. a dry, mediocre, chocolate human head, with some pitiful little cherry thingies floating uselessly around the base. for once in my life i wasn’t drinking, because one does not consume alcohol before dealing with screaming jewish children at baht mitzvahs. no. one does not. one orders nachos and big-ass cake and leaves the building sick to their stomach like a frickin iddiot. so for no drink, a plate of nachos, and a slice of admittedly gigantic dry cake– 30 dollars. … maybe not so much? and WHEN am i going to start carrying stretchy pants in my purse?

You know that neighborhood place you go to, and every time you go you say you’re not going back? The place that looks good, the menu is good, and in your mind it’s good… but when you go the service stinks, the food is assembled by monkeys, the seasonings are all off, and in the end you regret spending all that money and not just going to Friendly’s? You know that place? In Sudbury, this is that place.

Sky is the only restaurant at which I’ve ever gotten into a legitimate(yet civil) argument with the manager over the difference between ‘piccata’ and ‘marsala.‘ By the end, I just accepted the fact that their version of Chicken Piccata consisted of a Marsala wine sauce and no lemon. I would’ve been interested to taste the Chicken Marsala. But I digress. The food here isn’t very good, but it isn’t all that bad, either. The salads are pretty good, the burgers are pretty good, the pasta looks like it was collected from the bottom of a storm drain. The service is generally reliable, and the bar is actually a fun place to grab a Bud Light and watch the game on one of the 4 plasma screens… or 2 CRTs leftover from the 80’s. Couldn’t afford to replace them all at the same time? Don’t ask me. If you’re going to go at all, go for lunch, keep it basic, then go to Papa Gino’s next door and eat a Number One Grande to your face for dessert.

This is what I had written in Jan 2008: The food here is really quite good, but usually not spectacular. I can’t remember ever getting anything that was either disappointing or outstanding, so I’d say that for this price range it’s about 3.5 stars on average. But as usual it will depend on what you order, and who’s cooking, and how they’re feeling that day. Overall one of the better places in the area for a business lunch, or a pleasant dinner. Service is usually prompt and attentive, better than most. Update in June 2008: Sadly, this is a restaurant that has steadliy trended downwards, and is no longer one that I would recommend. The last few times I’ve been there I’ve been quite disappointed — the food has been just mediocre. Seek better places, there are many in the area.

You know, I’m always leery of a place that is perpetually advertising for help. Food is mostly okay, and not worth the money. The décor is hideous; straight out of the Nineties, and SO pretentious. Service has sucked, mostly. There’ s plenty of better places nearby.

I work across the street, so I went here with my boss for a quick meal mid-day. It was really quiet at 3pm, but we got served really quickly at the bar. The food wasn’t amazing but it was alright. I got a chicken pesto pizza… nothing special, but it was quick and easy.

I revisited it twice after they changed some things around and I actually enjoy it now. I love their drinks and their breadsticks are amazing!!! I get their steak(I find their seafood portions too be too small) The portion size is very hit or miss. Their appetizers are usually pretty big. I miss their Triple Crème Brulee dessert tho! It’s pretty easy to get seats on a Weekend since it’s so big… Updated: April 82007
