I wish they would re-open. I used to live in noho area and would always have delivery with them. This was real good Mediterranean food.

Sadly this recently closed down. I only gave this one star because it’s gone… This was one of my favorite local lunch spots. Back to Zankou for me.

DARBINZISCLOSINGDOWNTODAY. It is with great sadness that Darbinz is closing down business for good as of today 6÷16÷2015. We stopped in for lunch as we do monthly and the very friendly server informed us, as we are semi-regulars, that this was their last day. Such a shame, but the owner is apparently helping the staff move on to new prospects, possibly with the new owner who will most likely change it into another type of restaurant. Anyway, it was a shock that we just happened to come on their final day in business, as most times when we find a great place like this, we drive up one day and it’s already shuttered. So at least we had one final meal here, and the service as always was beyond friendly, and the food was great and plentiful. Thanks to all those who worked here and the owner, too, of course. Good luck to all of you on your future endeavors. We’ll all miss your food and service, but I guess nothing really good lasts forever.

Ok. Let’s start by saying the employees are very nice and sweet!!! The times I call to place order to pick up. My food was never ready! I call ahead of time for a reason!!! The times I ate there the food is ok. Not so great is just warm… small portions! The lentil soup is good. But just warm and cold on the bottom. :(*the times I ate there* My super favorite will always be PITACHICKEN on van nuys and Ventura. 3 *stars for employees and clean location!

The two stars is for the service and price. I got the Veggie combo plate to go and was kind of disappointed by the paper thin pita bread and the lack of flavor in most of the sides. The falafel was dry and tasted not very fresh. Overall, I give one star for the seemingly nice people who worked there and another star for the prices.

We ordered Shawarma because we were watching the Avengers. Delivery took 85 minutes, so we barely remembered the scene by the time it arrived. The Chicken Shawarma was cold. Even adjusting for that, the Sharma was unappetizing. The sauce packs were tiny and not tasty. The chicken was grissly and gross. Despite our ravenous hunger from having to wait 85 minutes for delivery, three of the four diners in the group refused to eat after the first couple of bites. The fourth only finished because of aforementioned hunger. Not a great experience. Suspicious of Unilocal’s rating. Update: the proprietor contacted me and explained that they are researching the delivery problem, and offered a redo on the order. I declined the offer, but I will visit the location since it’s a short walk(not 85 minutes!) and update the rating if the food is better. Maybe the driver ate our shawarma and went elsewhere to get replacements — but I won’t know: we won’t retry delivery.

Incredibly cheap, super good. Chicken plate is awesome and it’s a ton of food. Parking kind of sucks though — but it’s worth it.

Came here on a Tues night and sat on the patio. They start out with complimentary lentil soup which was very good and had an unexpected little kick to it. I would have licked the bowl if no one was looking. Then I had the veggie plate, as well as some yogurt dip(like what other places call tsatsiki) Plenty of food, and everything was very good. Service was very friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. Glad to have discovered this little neighborhood spot– I expect to return.

The saving grace of the meal was kerop. Kerop was so nice and honest. He even brought us out a soup which was actually delicious. The lentil soup which had a kick to it was very good. So we were looking forward to the rest of our meal. Then things went down. Next we were brought out our salad. The salad which was fresh so that was good just didn’t have much flavor to me. The salad dressing is heavy sumac which I like but still just didnt have much taste. Then came our main course. 3 meat combo platter which we ordered steak, chicken breast and chicken shwarma. Our chicken breast was still not cooked and very chewy. The steak had a burnt taste to it and the shwarma was pretty good. So needless to say we were not happy with our meal. The hummus unfortunately which tasted fresh and looked like it was house made was not very good. The tahini was liquid. Like water liquid. The garlic sauce was a heavy garlic which some places make it like that I have no problem with that sauce. The only reason we didn’t complain is because was on a lunch break and he was honestly so nice. In fact the whole staff was very nice. But the food missed the mark pretty bad.

Great, fresh Food! Loved it. Had the shawarma plate. Delicious! Huge Portions too. Included rice, salad, hummus and bread! It also came with 4 sauces. It would be helpful if they told you what they were. I was here at lunch time and it was not crowded. Sat on the patio. Very nice!

Absolutely love this place! Really fresh, great tasting food. The portions definitely have you leaving nice and full. The service is wonderful, they are really attentive and care about your experience. We sat on the outdoor patio which was really nice. Great vibe and great tunes playing. We got the Chicken Kabob plate and the Chicken Shawarma. The rice was especially delicious. THEBAKLAVAIS A MUSTHAVE! To Die For! I’ll definitely be back :)

Very tasty lamb chops and yogurt dip. Great lunch spot that was walking distance to my project location. Their bread and tarragon soda was a pretty neat, different approach to what you normally receive.

Damn. That was good. All of it. So good. The breading on the chicken schnitzel had amazing flavor and texture. As my friend pointed out, it was reminiscent to falafel. In the ideal scenario, they would use dishes and silverware, rather than styrofoam and plasticware. Better for the environment and it would better match their pleasant décor and romantic lighting.

This place rocked my socks off! Dang! I really can’t wait to go back! So I LOVE this type of food! Literally, I dream about Hummus, Lentil Soup, Baba Ganouj, etc. I have been to many restaurants this style and have to say this one just shot way up on my list! I came here after seeing reviews on their lentil soup, and was immediately given a decent sized sample to try out while I was looking over the menu. FRICKENCOOL! And the Lentil soup was FANTASTIC! Gonna run that by ya one more time — FREAKINGAWESOMELENTILSOUP! The lentils were still intact but very soft, and the spices were ONPOINT! A lot of times lentil soup is golden and all the same consistency, but this stuff was different and amazing! I wanna watch them make this stuff to get the scoop! Kerop was working at the front when we went and was super nice and helpful. I asked him what his favorite thing to eat was and he told me the beef shish. I was surprised because usually people will refer you to the schwarma, but I got the Beef Shish and it was so good! The food is all so fresh and I was very surprised with the portions, huge! I’m a big dude and definitely left feeling satisfied. The quality of the beef was way better than you will find anywhere else too, very impressed. We also had a veggie platter, and the falafel, grape leaves, eggplant salad, and everything else was tasty town. They also let me sub out rice for baba ganouj which was CLUTCH! This place is the bomb and you need to check it out. I am very happy that I live with so close. My plan is to one day talk them into letting me hang out in the kitchen all day and watch them cook haha, need to learn their recipes :) Do yourself a favor and go here for an affordable, super fresh, DELICIOUS meal and tell Kerop I said what up! …Oh and that Baklava though! Yumtown!

I went through the online ordering option which was due to end in 5 minutes. I think the restaurant was closing 20 minutes later which makes this review special. I’ve never been to this restaurant so I didn’t know what to expect and knew I was taking a chance on quality and timing so I was mentally prepared. I had delivery of the lamb chops plate as well as beef/lamb & chicken swarma’s. The portions were large enough for me to try all three orders. My preference was the fantastic seasoning and tenderness of the lamb chops. I also really liked the freshness of the side salad.

Yummy! I’m a fan of persian/middle eastern food because it’s so flavorful(and who doesn’t love hummus?) Came here on a Saturday night around 7:45pm. FOOD: –chicken shawarma plate — HUGE portions! And very tasty! Came with basmati rice, chicken, veggies, hummus and pita. They gave us complimentary bowls of lentil soup as well! Yum! SERVICE: Super friendly and nice! Brought our soup and food out to us, refilled my water cup and brought me a box for my leftovers. VENUE/PARKING: Place has patio seating as well, homey and clean. The bathroom is through the kitchen so ask them about it. It’s also very clean! I parked about 3 blocks away so it wasn’t too bad.

Had a craving for Shish Kebab. Drove from Farmers Market in Mid-Wilshire about 20 minutes. Highly rated, not disappointed. We ordered the Meat plate with Beef Shish and Chicken. Lots of food, we split the order and were both full. They brought us comp Lentil soup, pretty good. Out meat plate came packed to the edges., The beef and chicken came on a bed of balsamic rice with cucumber salad and Hummus. The beef was tender, perfect to be wrapped in lavish bread and chowed down. Rice was buttery and warm with flavors of beef and chicken laid on top. Cucumber salad was crunchy and tasty. Hummus was a good dip and condiment. I’ll be back.

Another good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern Option in Valley Village We are truly blessed with sooooo many good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern options in this area. Went for the beef kebab combo plate, good stuff. The rice, hummus, and salad that was on the side was also on point. In addition, I enjoyed the free lentil soup they hooked it up with. They have inside and outside seating, so that’s a plus on a nice day. Will be back if walking Ventura Blvd.
