Well worth the drive off of 81! Very friendly, attentive owner and staff. Great atmosphere and a large selection on the menu. Highly recommend the Tostones!!!

Attracted by the historic venue, we stopped for a late lunch. We got the pulled pork sandwich, one w/fries, the other onion rings. The best part was the pork itself — locally smoked but not by them, according to our waitress. They came as just the pork on hamburger buns. As the cook delivered someone else’s meal, I asked him where the North Carolina barbecue sauce we ordered was.(The choice was Texas or North Carolina sauce). He brought out two sides of some basic bottled thick sauce. He also apologized that there was no cole slaw, saying they hadn’t made it yet(this was at 2 in the afternoon). Clearly this cook is new as the fries — which other reviewers raved about — were burnt, greasy and soggy. The onion rings, however, were done just right, go figure. Maybe if you are a history buff it’s worth going there, but I found the meal itself average.

When driving through the Shenandoah Valley, one desires a comfortable, restful spot that embraces the body as well as the surrounding mountains embrace the soul. The Old Mill Grill fits this niche perfectly. The food is made with love, the drinks are served with heart, and the atmosphere is as warm and welcoming as the hills are old. So many thanks to Abe, who is the most impeccable of hosts.

Stopped in for a late lunch today with my son on the way back home from Bryce Resort in Basye, Va. It was a wonderful find! Absolutely charming place with ambiance. As soon as I stepped in I sensed the presence of spirits! More on that later! I wanted the OMG Fish & Chips which featured fried Haddock, a favorite fish of mine. My son ordered the Club Sandwich. unfortunately the waitress returned and said they were out of Haddock. I didn’t like this at all but I asked her about the North Carolina Pork BBQ and what the sauce was like. I almost died because I know NC pork Bbq and I have never heard of a «white sauce» on this delicacy! It either vinegar and peppers or a tomato based sauce. Luckily when I got my order it was indeed authentic Eastern NCBBQ with vinegar! I was delighted! I asked her if they made it there and she said no. I immediately recognized it as a BBQ I have bought in a tub from my local grocery store! Not complaining because it was really good and I was hungry. The accompanying fries and sliced tomatoes I requested were very good too. price $ 9.95. Not unreasonable at all! My son’s club sandwich was also tasty and reasonable. Had we been there for dinner I might have tried other fancier items! Nevertheless the place is a piece of Virginia history and deserves support! Ok, the ghosts! In the Shenandoah Valley many old places are haunted. Felt them as soon as I walked in! Fortunately I don’t see them! 2 ghosts here! A little girl and a Civil War soldier! Go experience this yourself unless you’re chicken! It’s worth it!

Traveling from Canada back home to Texas.(We eat at a lot of places). We stopped here because of great reviews on multiple sites. It was all that! Great atmosphere. Way to repurpose an old mill. Food was superior and a great value. Will eat here again.

The Old Mill Grill is a restaurant, situated in an actual historic old mill that survived the Civil War. When you walk in, the wooden floorboards are creaking with every step, and the place itself is dimly-lit with random artifacts and lights. We were given a pleasant greeting by the owner(who also seemed to be the chef). The menu offers Southern/Caribbean/Mexican, with daily specials as well as a breakfast menu that was recently added. The hubs and I tried the coconut shrimp(which came with a nice amount of crisply-fried shrimp with a crunchy and crispy coconut exterior — this came with a side of pineapple sauce(but, that was a bit too watered down); the shrimp were find on its own); some onion rings(crisply-fried, these were definitely hot and ‘juicy’ — I think the oil might be changed, as there were some dark remnants on the plates; a bone-in porkchop latter(thinly-cut pork chop that were pretty good), coming with a side of mashed potatoes & gravy(yum!) and a side of steamed green beans; and, a Philly Cheesesteak(the toast was lovely and crispy; however, I just wasn’t a fan of the filling, with the large slices of meat and the already-mixed onion/red pepper/green pepper; there was some cheese(I’m thinking it was just white American) and mayo) — this came with a side of hand-cut fries that were pretty okay. There is a little stage up at the front, where there seemed to be live musical performances, and I’ve heard that the locals come here during the evenings for HH and other restaurant-organized events. Our server was friendly, and she checked up on us occasionally. We were the only two dining in there, but I did see some people coming in after us. Just a note: the bathrooms are super clean! +restaurant in an old mill(Civil War era) +also opened for breakfast +friendly owner: D +clean bathrooms! +plenty of parking in their private lot

The owner’s personality and extensive menu made up for the lack of ambiance. Where else can you order mofongo, a classic Puerto Rican dish, and pulled pork bbq in one sitting? The portions were very generous, food cooked really well, and company excellent.

On a whim, we pulled into the Old Mill Grill on a road trip through VA. What a cool place! The building itself is really neat, it is well over 100 years old. The history of the mill is told in a series of posters on the wall. But enough about the building, on to the food. The brisket was tender, moist and yummy. The wings were meaty. The fries were crunch, just how I like them! And the service was great! Definitely recommend checking it out.

A full liquor cabinet, a selection of menu items straight from the tropics and an affable owner — that some might deem as overly friendly: all ingredients that make me hope this restaurant is here to stay.

Abraham and his staff are enthusiastic about building a great, personal restaurant located in an old, very old mill just on the edge of Strasburg. His is a work in progress, but these are works that are so fun to be part of. Abraham is so proud, quite skilled, always happy, and eager to please. What more can you ask for? He is experimenting with a larger menu than necessary or expected, but there is delight in being able to order typical Valley food, and having authentic Caribbean options as well! Be sure to stop in for live music on Fridays and Saturdays … Very good guitar with a wide selection of country and folk music. Prices are extremely reasonable and the ambience is worth experiencing!

I really wanted to like this place and read all the reviews but alas, I was completely unimpressed. We ordered mozzarella sticks to start and they were fine. Side salads were nothing more than iceberg lettuce. When the meals came I was completely disappointed. Fish and chips. While the fries were homemade the uniform fish planks were terrible and so obviously previously frozen. A place that focuses on homemade ketchup should really consider focusing on the food instead. My husband received onion rings with his order… frozen too. My sons $ 16 steak was horribly fatty. My other sons kids pizza… soggy. The bathrooms needed a cleaning. Like I said, I really wanted to post a great review. We were so excited to have a great meal.

This place needs work. They were out of everything,(4 different items just for when we were placing our order), it was a stretch to find anything that seemed homemade, and the delivery of the food was poor to medium. When I think 4 stars, I think a real 4 stars. I knew something was going to be wrong when they brought the off brand generic ketchup to he table. We should have went with our gut and left after it was a stretch just to find a meal where we weren’t told they were out if something.

This is good homemade food at super reasonable prices. The enchilada, pork chops, and cheese sticks weren’t blow-you-away delicious, but they are all quality and very tasty. Chocolate cake was awesome. The service was good too. It’s a quaint place to check out right on the end of 66!

This place was great. The food is good, nothing too fancy. But everything is homemade(including the ketchup). The owner is friendly and helpful, as is all the staff. The ambiance is fabulous. Small town home-cooked food!

Amazing service, great homemade food and super low prices. You can choose from traditional American comfort or several Caribbean dishes. This would seem rather random, but the owner is from Puerto Rico and has experience with both types of cuisine. This is a place I plan on returning to whenever in town.

The food was delicious! Everything really tasty and homemade: fries, burguers, desserts… Even the Ketchup!!!(I am not a big fun of ketchup but I have to say that we bought a container to bring home. Best ketchup ever!). The owner, Abraham, was really nice with us; he was even playing with our three little kids. I totally recommend the place: quality food at a very low price!!! We’ll be back for sure!

The food here was pretty good. The atmosphere is laid back and the décor is pretty cool. The only reason I am giving them four start is because the service was not that great but I believe it was just the waitress we had.

What a nice surprise to find authentic Caribbean food here in Strasburg. Abraham, the owner, seems to have a good following of customers who carried over from his former café. But the Old Mill Grill stands on it’s own as a wonderful new spot to get real deal Spanish and Caribbean inspired dishes at a very reasonable price. We visited on a Sunday night and there were a few other tables of diners, but I was able to overhear that most ordered standard American dishes. Old Mill does offer sandwiches and BBQ, if that’s what you’re in the mood for. But I was there specifically to get my fix of plantains and horchata. I ended up ordering the shrimp mofongo, a «bowl» formed from fried plantains, filled with shrimp and covered in a delicious tomato and garlic based sauce with lots of veggies. Towards the end of our meal Abraham came to the table to ask how our food tasted and shared that I was the first person to order the mofongo since the restaurant opened two months ago. «When I saw your order I figured you were either familiar with this type of food, or ready to try something different!» What a shame that most have not quite warmed to what was the main draw for us, the authentic cuisine that Abraham creates himself. Whether you’re passing through or you’re a local, if you are dying for something different in the area, definitely give it a shot. The food is fresh and authentic, the prices are just right, and the service is friendly and accessible.
