Nice Mex atmosphere. Small, cozy. We both had burritos and margaritas. Very good, big plates so a lot to eat. Very reasonable price. Should be a regular stop. A definite recommend.

I can honestly say, the taco I had tonight(a steak taco that was the special taco for the day) was the best I’ve ever had. The salsa and guacamole was very good, and my girls loved the duck fajita. We will be going back before we head back home. This time I may not stop at one taco!

The good news? Arguably the best Tex-Mex joint in Stowe. The bad news? That’s a pretty low standard. The chips are probably Tostitos straight from the bag. I think the salsa is Wal-Mart’s house brand(Mild flavor). The rice side-dish may be the blandest«Spanish rice» I’ve ever tasted. But the pinto beans on the side are tasty, and my entrée(Tres Cerdo burrito) was pretty good. The thing I was most disappointed by was they are(locally) famous for smoking their own foods.(The do have an impressive smoker on site. I’ve seen it in action!) So I expected a lot of flavor in the dishes. Didn’t get it. They have a *huge* Tequila list, and I imagine that is what’s keeping this place popular and busy in every season. I’m a Tex-Mex aficionado; I’ll enjoy everything from street tacos in the barrio to Taco Bell at the mall. Service was GREAT and friendly. Alfresco dining in the garden was a pleasure. But Cactus Café will improve their Mex-cred when they spice up the food a little. Or, more than a little.

Started off with the Chimichangas which were… very meh to say the least. Margaritas were strong and well mixed, favorite dish of the night were the Chicken Mole Enchiladas which were pretty exceptional. Reminded me of my friends home cooked Mexican meals in California. Great ambiance, good times. My advice… Skip the chimis and enjoy their well prepared fare.
